    The envelopes all have green inside. So no matter how they are placed, the green one will always be right. The red one was swapped under the table. The ones that Peter opens himself are slight of hand. He doesn't really take something out of the envelopes, he is already holding the right cloth inside his hand before opening. Those he gets previously. I think: one from the table and one at 5:17. One hand will simultaneously hold the envelope and the extra cloth. The extra cloth is also packaged tight, so that he can make the illusion of it coming out of the envelope.

    @@sanderschat lol I'm not a magician and there's not one single move I didn't caught him doing, you can even see him placing his hands in his pocket, the right one sitting there for quite a while, and then just the obvious palming and covering his hand the whole time after that. Yeah I couldn't do it, it requires years of practise, but its a pretty easy trick and if I can spot all the trades he did, any magician can see how the trick is done fairly easy.

  • @Fatvod

    @Fatvod

    @@vinhix Not palming, he's using thumb tips. You notice each time he tears open the envelope he jams his right thumb inside, then he squeezes the outside of the envelope to take off the thumb tip and then reaches in to take out the scarf. He's really good at hiding the thumb tip during his movements but there's a few spots that if you pause you can see it. That's also why Penn gave the code word "tip of our tongue" he's referencing a thumb tip.

    Normally, yes. But on Fool Us the magicians often do that as misdirection to put Penn & Teller down the wrong path. Remember, P&T only get one guess, several people have won, NOT by doing a trick that they can't figure out but by providing them with clues that make them think it is more likely to be done by one way than a second one that they would have said. It is actually the only thing I don't like about the show is when they win like that. I'm genuinely more entertained when P&T have no idea how they do it and not by the magician winning on a technicality.

    ** Spoiler Alert** (Not for the faint hearted- I mean you, Serena) What I hope Penn would say: All envelopes in beginning had green. 1st one was an obvious change to red before handing over to Alison. Then green handed to Alison. Other 2 envelopes in control with magician. Puts hands in pockets/under table both times, saves up yellow and blue cloth in fake thumb/fingers etc. And that’s the trick. What Penn actually says: Subtle.. Sherlock Homes...mystery.. Me: huh?

    There's gotta be a way to do it without the obvious switch and the guest holds all the envelopes. The magician hands the envelops in a particular direction. "hold right here. Now tear the bottom off with your other hand." the orientation of the envelops determines what pocket gets opened and it's contents spilt.

    Every envelop has green in it. Before he hands her the "red" envelop, he switches it under the table. For yellow and blue, he's palming a scrunched up piece of fabric (which he loaded into his hands out of his pockets when he stuck his hands into his pockets while talking). When he tears his envelops open, he leaves the wadded up green inside the envelops and displays the palmed appropriate colors.

    Not palming, he's using thumb tips.

    I don't think that would work. I think the envelopes all have green inside.
