Hi, I have one too in combination with a piggyback engine tuning kit. Both can be altered through Bluetooth. RaceChip from Europe. I like the throttle control a lot. Dropping acceleration down surely has a positive influence on fuel consumption. Though my main buying motive is driving with a heavy trailer. Where I need to drag a large and heavy BBQ onto private gardens. Low aggression and 4WD avoids damage to their precious grass. If you'd like to see my setup search for #PuraLeña But equally it will help a lot to avoid digging yourself in when in sandy terrain. My throttle set has a simple dail setting. And I use it quite a lot. Bluetooth I only use for power module. To operate power setting remotely, I use a cheap mini phone as a remote. And autostart the Android application. Using your normal phone is impractical. And not always works perfect. As it is normally also in use for audio etc. So you always need to change to the correct program etc. Which apart from being illegal is just a hassle for city driving.

Good review and comparison. I understand they are only changing the pedal response sequences, do you think that interferes with the Terrain Management. Sense part of the TM system alters the response for throttle control? Thanks for the upload as always.

Thanks Alex, no change to the TM systems although I generally turn the tuner right down for off road technical stuff otherwise the car thinks you are stabbing it everywhere, most useful for on road.

Explain to me why you would want a throttle controller, when the throttle parameters are changed by the factory terrain mode options????

How does it compare to the sports mode on the raptor? What are differences between that driving mode and the unit?

The throttle tuner amplifies the throttle input, that way you can have a snappy throttle response without having the car run high RPM or hold gears for longer. I don't really use sports mode ever anymore.

That’s about right mate, allows you to dial in how responsive your pedal is.

Thanks mate. Are you still happy with the ranger ? I’ve traded my 2017 for a Hilux- there was a few things I didn’t like about the ranger and I had a few problems once it got a few kms on it

@@highlander752 Im still enjoying the the ute, my only real gripe with it is the spring rate is a little soft for full loads to go camping and would be nice to have a set of vents for the rear seats for the kids.

@@RoundTheFire Same here. Ventilation in rear isn't perfect. But as my rear window heating mess has a failure from the beginning I want to see if I can get the window replaced for a USA version with sliding window. Though it will take some convincing.

Hi, i am thinking about buying a throttle controller (not the IDrive because this i can not have shipped to Europe) but some other device i found on the internet. I would love to hear your opinion about installing a throttle controller in a Ranger Raptor. Is this a good idea and is it necessary since we do have 5 different driving modes anyway. Last question: is there any downside like risking to damage the gear box oder even the engine? tx mate.

G’day mate, it’s certainly not necessary to install a throttle controller as you mentioned the 6 drive modes do adjust the driving characteristics already. The benefits I find for having the controller is I don’t like the high RPM driving style of modes like Sport and Baja. The throttle controller gives a more smoother and greater performance in normal so much so that I never use sport anymore. There is no risk of engine/drive line damage from the controller as it’s primary function is amplifying the throttle timing 👍🏻 if you have problems getting one shipped I have shipped a lot of them to Europe already from my website www.roundthefire.store

You can notice the setting changes, have a play around with it for half a day and you can get it fairly well dialed in to the sweet spot to suit your individual driving style.

Mines going good mate, I have heard there can be a oil pressure issue that was fixed with a software update on the Pre 2020 models.

@@RoundTheFire ok so I don't have any transmission issues, but my rear differential main seal has to be replaced. It was leaking so bad the entire rear diff is soaked in gear oil. Haven't taken the truck off road at all and it only has 13,000 miles on it, never towed anything either. Ford Philippines doesn't have the part in stock so they told me it's going to take a month since the part is coming from Thailand. They are going to fix it under warranty but it still a shitty situation.

@@GALANTXVR4 That is a shitty situation mate, especially taking a month! surely its not that long to get a single part in...thankfully under warranty. Its the first Ive heard of this issue thanks for letting me know. hopefully they can get it fixed faster and get you back on the road.

i doubt this would be any major difference between an idrive, probably 4x the price of an idrive as well.

I think they are about $100 more than an Idrive...main difference may be Idrive is made in China and pedal box is made in Germany.
