This movie was so disturbing. Not because it was gruesome, but Mia Goth's acting is so good that every time she started to scream or have a mental breakdown it gave me so much anxiety.

The family dinner and confrontation with Mittsy both made my blood run cold, those scenes were so well crafted and really immersed you in the film I feel like. The actual killing in the movie was anxiety inducing, but the dread of the characters interacting was where the real horror lied IMO. Mia killed it in this, pun maybe intended.

i personally love it when romantic/upbeat songs are used in horror movies, and having "i want to be loved by you" as the song choice for this one really elevated the trailer for me. the retro feel, the acting. it all just works.
@urbanharmon3471

Honestly to me, there's something about said romantic/upbeat being used in horror movies, either for trailers or end credits, that just adds to the whole creepiness of horror... I.E Hereditary's end credits with Both Sides Now, and I now associate that song with that movie.

Mia Goth will give us such an amazing performance, that Oscars will definitely ignore her and snub her next year. Just like Toni Collete(Hereditary) , Florence Pugh(Midsommar) and Lupita Nyongo(Us). This randomly became one of my favorite films. I just watched this film without knowing that it was a prequel and, I have to say, it stands incredibly well on its own. You really aren't required to watch "X" before watching "Pearl." Though, I will definitely watch "X" after seeing this masterpiece! The story and characters (especially Pearl herself) are excellent and very well written. The titular character is a perfect embodiment of dangerous ambition and delusion of grandeur while also demanding some form of compassion from the audience, as Pearl's hopes, dreams and wants are relatable enough to invoke empathy. Even though that empathy flies right out the window the moment she impales another poor soul with a pitchfork, haha. The acting performances of Mia Goth are nothing but surreal! I've never seen her on screen before, but I will definitely keep her on my radar as she's a force to be reckoned with, an absolute marvel to watch explode (you'll know what I mean after seeing this). @@dhungryarchitect I agree, that she is so clearly overacting in several places. The long monologue scene, while written beautifully and gets to the core of her character, I would never believe that her character would spontaneously come up with all that. And very nice of Mitsy to let Pearl finish her "Oscar bait speech". And the smile at the end that people keep raving about, just doesn't fit at all. Yes, it's creepy, but it is also so clearly overacted it becomes laughable. I think Mia Goth still did a great job with many scenes in the movie, and she is a talented actress, but she clearly tried too hard at times. That said, I think it was still a good movie. But yeah if you didn't see the ending, and still found her annoying, you would find that even more cringe.

@@eriksoneerie8870 seen the end part and fast tracked it. yup too cringy. if people like it whatever. i think partyl coz they just like that she would go nude and do sexy scenes in the movie. cheap tactics... Now Eddie Redmayne in the movie The Good Nurse. that was good acting.
I love the retro vibe. It's like an old movie that's digitally restored.
Mia Goth is so good at... I dunno how else to say it... uncomfortable roles. I felt the same way watching her in Suspiria and A Cure for Wellness. She undertakes some of the most nerve wracking and disturbing roles, I almost know what kind of movie I'm in for when I see her name. And that's a compliment! She is dedicated to her craft and an exceptionally talented actress. Her movies just send a chill down my spine. She has this uncanny ability to master a childlike innocence and/or a deranged psychopath almost TOO well. Mad respect though and I look forward to this film
Finally watched it last night and it was great. Goth is a great actress for sure.

Just brilliant acting by Mia Goth. Never for a moment in the movie it felt like she was acting. Damn good movie!
Aku udah liat filmnya.
