That’s something Tommy Shelby would say if he was trying to get a role himself. He knew what Knight was looking for and that he was preceived the wrong way so he reminded him what he can do in such a short and powerful way. Man played Tommy Shelby before he could be Tommy Shelby.

Joe Cole was right. This is Cillian's show. There are no Peaky Blinders without Tommy. I love Jason but he would have been the wrong choice for the role. I was never really a fan of Cillian until Peaky Blinders. Now, I literally want to boink him 24/7 and bear his 20 children. If Cillian leaves the show, they should end it because nobody can play Tommy beside him and the show dies if they try to do it without Tommy. One of the reasons this show rocks is because they are no hollyweirdos butchering the Brummie accent. I love that all cast members are British/Irish and so there was no need to fake an accent. I also love that they cast because of the story not because of identity political BS. Each character works and is in line with the story. The story is epic and I love that you just don't know what will happen next. Brilliant show!

I just watched the first season for the first time, and am 2 episodes into the second. I am truly speechless with their performance. An unlikely pair, casting director struck gold.

The casting is brilliant. I absolutely love Arthur. When he says “by the order of the Peaky f$&{king Blinders!” it just sounds so cool. Arthur and John both have so much swagger walking around taking care of business for Tommy. Cillian is such a boss, he’s got charisma and mystique at the same time.

The accents are all pretty bad but it’s forgiven because the acting, the strength of the characters, the story lines and the sets more than make up for it. I feel qualified to say that because I’m a Brummie… My grandad worked for a back street illegal betting shop in Small Heath, Birmingham during the 1920’s..

Jason Statham doesn't have the range to play Tommy, he's very one-dimensional. Cillian has so much depth as an actor, his intelligence really shines through, that's why Tommy is so believable as a complicated, super-smart 'tough guy' who cares, but who is also selfish and toxic. And yet somehow we all still love and root for him.

Can't even imagine this show without Cillian, without any of the actors really. The are amazing

I love the cast and what they bring to the show but most of them struck gold with legit no background experience in acting. That is proof that you should still take shots and risks because you just might get the role, even if it’s a slight chance. So go chase your dreams.

Thomas Shelby is supposed to have his brains and looks to get what he wants. I'm not saying Statham is not good looking but come on those blue eye? That perfectly sculpted face? He is the epitome of danger and beauty put together. So yea, Cillian is perfect for Thomas.

to be very honest,the show wont be getting the recognition as right now if tommy was portrayed by another actor. Cillian added huge impact into the show with his strong personality. thats how the he managed to carry the show perfectly.

Cillian Murphy is definitely one of the most talented and versatile actor in the last 25 years.

I am huge fan of Jason but NO ONE could have done it better than Cilian

To think Finn wasn't even an actor and now he has some of the most powerful scenes? That's pure talent💯

I believe he's said his style of acting taking a massive toll on him physically and emotionally. So, when he goes home to his family, he really goes back to the true introvert he is and has to sort of recover from all that intensity.

Yeah he’s the main reason I even watched peaky blinders because I Love Cillian Murphy I love how they said he was good for a huge male and female audience lol

I always glazed over when Ada was on-screen, but there was this one scene that I'll never forget that changed my mind about her and even got me crushing. That scene in the pub and she's like "Next time make sure you have ice. This pub's come to our attention for it's lack of ice", then she went over to the corner table, said nothing, and the guy got shook and vacated the seats.

Cillian Murphy: "Remember, I'm an actor." Finn Cole: "I'm not an actor."

Helen McCrory would have been spoken in the same breath as Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, she was that good in all her various roles, especially on the stage. A sad loss

My favorite characters are Tommy and Polly, done magnificently by Cillian and Helen and we gonna miss aunt Polly 💔 Also, Arthur's, Alfie's and Luca Changretta's roles are super good and actors did it perfectly!

Cillian murphy is the reason why I'm watching the show... no one cpyld have played thomas shelby's character better than him...

Paul Anderson was perfect for Arthur’s character. He was my favorite character in the series. His ability to be a Shelby and handle business, while having to cope with his PTSD alone since no one takes that part of him serious, really sets the tone for a person who faces that in real life. His acting is absolutely superb. Loved everyone but Arthur MUST get his flowers.

The "make or break" for drama series like Peaky Blinders is whether or not you "like" the main character. He can be a really bad person in terms of what he does in life (like Walter White and Tony Soprano), but we have to develop a liking for the character in order to continue to want to watch him - - and the show. If the Tommy Shelby actor would have been more "unlikeable" that Cillian Murphy, the show might have failed during the first season. I loved the series. I'm watching it from start to finish for the 2nd time now (just completed Season 4).
