Hi ladies! Im back! Just wanted to make a body positive video about my weight loss and what worked for me. Please know I am not certified in nutrition, naturopathy , or a doctor, and I am simply giving you my story. I hope we all feel comfortable with our bodies enough to trust them and work with them instead of listening to fad diets. I encourage everyone to find a weight that is healthy for YOU and sustainable.

I find even when i eat high fats- so protein pancakes with coconut flour as an example, or nut butters, I get sleepy. I think the only things that dont make me bloated or sleepy are vegetables and protein. Even my gf bread with almond flour and psyllium husk makes me feel more sleepy and bloated. Maybe not to the degree I would if I ate french fries- but still takes a toll. I FEEL YOU! Exercise does help with energy levels but I still struggle.

It's so so refreshing to hear an anti diet, non shaming approach to eating for PCOS!!! I can't tell you the amount of trash and shaming I've experienced from trainers and even doctors who gave such extreme approaches telling me to cut all carbs and train for 45 mins every day? It felt so hard to follow and made my relationship with food a huge source of shame and guilt. Instant subscription!! Thanks so much for making this video ❤️

There is SOOO much contradictory information. and while I think its safe to say were all not the same human beings and we have to do find out what works for our bodies personally. i personally, could not do keto for the rest of my life that just seems very unrealistic, but some may so to each their own!

@@JessicaDiana yesss keto is not sustainable for me. There's no one size fits all. Everyone's body is uniquely different but I have found these things to be very inflammatory gluten, dairy, refined carbs, sugar, hydrogenated oils and processed foods. Stress and cortisol is huge too so self care, relaxation, self love, and stress relief is crucial. Lower impact exercise, HITT workouts, and strength training tend to be way better then high impact long cardio ; ). I'm on the journey to heal myself and its a lot of frustrating trial and error.

Jessica Diana yes keto is not actually meant to be used long term. It is sometimes prescribed for certain medical conditions such as seizure disorders because the benefits outweigh the risks but it should not be used long term as a weight loss/management program.

I was 105lbs to 182lb I was so active and eating healthy drinking water kept gaining. Then I was able to lose to 132lb last year then I put up another 20lbs. Like it’s hard to keep the weight off. Hey Vanessa that is so exciting !!! Yes I think whole 30 is one of those lifestyle changes that can benefit many people in the long run as it explains which foods are best for your body rather than being very restrictive like keto. I think the biggest thing with pcos is lowering your sugar intake which is key. Hope you are finding the journey ok xxx

Tired of hearing people say oh I shouldn't of eaten that so now I have to go walk 10 miles.

Hey Kathleen I absolutely agree with you! I think if you're doing it to start off to get an idea of portion sizes/ nutrition/ macros on things its a great idea. but to have it for your whole life for every meal becomes problematic for a lot of women as you begin seeing everything in numbers, not nutrition, as well as become obsessed with counting everything.

Hey Frances!!! Its actually a dress from a thrift store for $5!!! Yes have you checked out the FODMAP? It basically tries to eliminate bloating by laying out which foods you should/ shoudnt eat with each other. My naturopath suggested I try following it for a bit to see if it helps my bloating. Maybe give it a go?

I'm really glad to have found this video. My doctor told me that, because I have PCOS, I should really look into Keto & intermittent fasting. I don't think I'd mind incorporating fasts occasionally (I don't know that I want to do it every day) but I really really don't want to do keto (I don't even have a good reason, I just /don't/) and... idk. This was really encouraging, that it is possible to lose weight without being really restrictive. Thanks for your positivity ♥

Considering you pretty much have to eat like a diabetic with pcos I would be cautious. Watching your blood sugar is very important, as far as I know just managing your weight won't stop you from being at risk for insulin resistance. Of course eat whatever you feel your body reacts best to but I'd suggest eating regularly, 3 meals a day with snacks in between, whatever portions you want. A tip I heard that's actually great is to eat (no matter how big the plate is) 50% veggies, 20% complex carbs and 30% protein (animal and/or plant). You can tweak it according to your needs but it's a good guideline to go by. I hope nothing I said was confusing, I wish you the bestest of best of luck and a nice week.

Yes I totally agree with Alexia below ! The way I keep my weight low is to not restrict anything , to eat smaller meals throughout the day , and to stay lower on the processed sugars (basically everything I said in my video ) . Try this out first and perhaps for the first bit track how much sugar you’re in taking and see if there’s areas of your day where you can replace it with something else .

Omg YES YES YES!!! So glad its not just me that feel this way 😔 I’ve been struggling so much with my weight after my son was born, over 2 years ago.. no matter what I do I can’t seem to lose weight 😭 I was diagnosed with pcos around 7 years ago and I always had an issue with my weight.. BUT it was never like this. I went to the doctor the other day and she didnt take me seriously cause I still breastfeed my son.. so she was like “ohh that’s why” like wth! I just wanted to know if I still have pcos and if theres any medication that can help. I feel so bad.. and about the pill, I get so many mixed things! Its what helped me to get my periods back before in 2012 (when I found out about my pcos), but now everyone says its bad and its what makes you fat 😔 I just don’t know what to do. The doctor is not being helpful.. can you believe she kept saying about counting calories?😭 I’m so lost and I don’t know what to do.. Ps: just subbed. Loved your vibe and I hope I can feel confident in my body like you do one day again.

Hey my friend!!! That is very frustrating. But I would listen to your doctor, while you breastfeed youre burning TONS of calories meaning youll need to eat a ton too! Dont be too hard on yourself youre a new mom!!! Youre amazing!!! Dont feel bad about your body right now, you just performed the hardest thing in the world. My friends who had babies said the weight started going down after they stopped breast feeding so just give yourself time!! Also you dont get your real period on the pill, its a withdraw period so its fake. you dont ovulate on the pill at all.

I also happen to have a strong gluten sensitivity and am lactose intolerant. I have been miserable and stressing out! This video was what I really needed right now! As I am really new to the world of PCOS, are there any recommendations any of you would make? Getting a nutritionist or naturopath? Have you tried intermittent fasting and does it work?

I would totally recommend getting a dietician and a naturopath as they were SOOO valuable in helping me manage my symptoms. I would also get your hormone levels done by your doctor and bring them to your naturopath so they can cater the supplements to you!

And also when i was 16 my hair start falling out. Im save to say that i have lost half of my hair.. i also have noticable love handles, and is it really hard to stay on one weight for me. i had my hormones tested but they were Stable. I went to the gynecologist en did a echo (a outside echo, not a inside one) and the gynecologist couldnt see anything incorrect. When i search my symptons up all i see is ‘pcos’ but my doctor said that thats not possible because i still get my periode often. And also because the gynecologist couldnt find anything. Does anybody think that i have still PCOS? Because my doctor doesnt take me serious she didnt help me at all. What could i do next? What should i ask my doctor for? I hope someone anwsers, im really sad about al these symptons.. (sorry for my english it isnt my first language)

Girls! The reason why you struggle more than normal people is because your body doesn’t know how to process carbs and it just stores it as fat. For example my husband and I eat the same amount of food (actually I eat less) but let’s just say he is nothing but muscle, and I workout more than him, when we go to the gym he’s always sore after doing the same as me because he’s not used to it, yet I’m still a little heavier than him, because his body KNOWS what to do with carbs (use it as energy) and mine stores it as fat (that’s why many pcos women feel like don’t have energy most of the time). Exercise is Crutial for us, not an option! If you don’t want to feel terrible all the time you have to exercise and cut some carbs out of your diet, especially bread. Don’t completely cut them out since fruit is very good for you, but just limit them.

  • @JessicaDiana

I was just diagnosed with pcos. Im 16 and i have not had a period since july 2017. Now that i know i have pcos a lot of things are making since such as weight, facial hair, menstrual problems, etc. I have always wanted to know what the freak was going on with me and now that i know im trying to find out what i can do to help my situation. Before they took blood for my lab test which was monday (april 8th) they suspected pcos was what was going on. And they put me on birth control. Today (april 12) i was told that it was indeed pcos and that my levels for testosterone (i think) was like 149 and it was supposed to be at 70. Is there any tips you could give me to help? Outside of the ones in this video of course

_MysticBlue_ you can of course try birth control but the moment you come off of it, you‘ll probably see your symptoms again. But it can help you for the moment, with your irregular periods and hirsutism etc. I only took it for 1 month and decided to stop since I didn‘t want to take it to begin with. Since then, I get my period pretty regularly. I try to exercise 2-3 times a week. Do things that you like - if you like dancing then do dancing workouts or zumba. I like walking videos of Leslie something (sorry forgot her name). Often, I do 15-30 min videos of hers and then I‘ll add another cardio video. Many people say that working out with weights is better and shows faster results but I don’t have weights at home and the gym isn‘t really my cup of tea. And tbh you don’t even need the gym. Just exercise with the things you have at home and really do the things that are fun to you - don’t force yourself! Also, HIIT workouts are really effective, but I can‘t do them because they are so hard and I get out of breath and basically die😂 So to sum up my essay 😂: Don’t ever stress out. That‘s the worst thing for pcos. Since I got off the pill I noticed that I have to be more kind to myself. I didn‘t lose weight that much but I got my period back and my acne isn‘t bad anymore. As said in this video, don’t count calories, but try to enjoy more of the healthy foods. Don’t think you can‘t have sugary things ever again- allow yourself some sugary stuff here and there but not too much or too often. Oh and also, supplements can help of course. I like Omega 3 since it lowers your blood sugar (I am on the edge of being insulinresistant) and for me, it helped with my skin. Zinc is also good for the skin. If you have any questions I‘m here for you! Good luck on your journey, dear❤️

Hi babes!!! You have an amazing answer from Dilara!!! Your symptoms are going to be masked with the pill as its not fixing your pcos but relieving some of those stressors. i honestly didnt need any supplements or what not on the pill because I didnt have any symptoms. i do encourage exercise , and as mentioned on my channel weights has been scientifically proven to be the best for pcos/ hormone control, however I agree with Dilara in saying that anything is better than nothing and its important to do something that excites you! Even going on 30 minute walks every day is nice! Because youre on the pill now your testosterone will calm down and therefore so will your acne/ hair growth etc which will make you happy! let me know if you have any questions xxx

This is true, nobody I know understands what PCOS is, I've been called fat and needed to diet when I am already doing everything I can and hardly eating anything at all. My exBF literally criticised me and pointed out my distended belly which was more depressing than anything. he was a huge ahole. :( now I'm trying to find better ways to deal with PCOS without starving myself.

ughhh the being called fat and people needing to comment on every move is the worst. WOWWW im so happy hes your EX! That sounds like an awful person to have around. please dont starve yourself. its worth seeing a dietician or naturopath who can help you achieve goals in a healthy way.

You talk about your sugar still being up. You also mentioned keto is restrictive. But what if you are doing less damage buy cutting just changing some of those items. A friend of mine always said I can find a way to make that keto and she does. What if good clean fats and way of eating did actually even make things better for you?

Hey thanks for the informative response. My sugar levels are up to me, but they are no where near dangerous according to my doctor and naturopath. I honestly agree with you and think if I had a strict keto diet things would improve, but at the same time, I would be miserable and weak. Ive done keto style before and it did not agree with me. I love going out with my friends, training in the gym, and living a more balanced way. When I ate keto it was so hard to stick to, especially when travelling to exotic places (no ice cream in italy? no pasta or pizza?? no pastries in france?) so I think its really good for people who think they can commit to it for their whole lives but for me it doesnt fit my lifestyle. have you tried it?

Jessica Diana i have been doing keto. When traveling you can eat what is there. I know of some one who is keto and went over seas. She decided to eat whatever while there but go back to keto when home. Her sister goes on cruises. She will do keto the whole time other then for a day or two. It would be like doing a carb up. We have heard many say I can’t do keto because of this or that. There has been a group I’m apart of that has helped many get back to keto and find success with it.

I have PCOS without insulin resistence and I gained weight eating keto! I tortured myself for nothing, I even worked out more than usual. Keto and cardio increases Testosteron, so you won't lose weight with a keto diet.. I guess the solution is going gluten and dairy free to decrease inflammation and hormonal inbalance.

  • @JessicaDiana

    @JessicaDiana

Totally agree with everything you said! Keto is not for life, its a fad, and has a lot of conflicting/ negative research against it. With us its all about keeping our hormones calm and happy, and eating all that meat cant help that I assume? The biggest help Ive had with PCOS is lowering my processed sugar. your skin will clear up and youll drop weight. try that first! and yes its not so much gluten itself, but processed carbs spike insulin so if you lower your bread you'll spike your insulin less theoretically

Yes fruit is the best food in the world. It has everything in proportion, proteins, carbs and fats. Plus it has a high water ratio, so digestion will be smooth, and it does not spike your insulin unhealthily which is the most important. Dr Sebi explains the differences between man made foods and nature's foods also.
