    My cousin worked for Karl back in the late seventies. He remembers when Randy Rhoads came in with Kevin DuBrow to order the guitar, and how he wanted little bowties for the inlays.

    Karl is a legend and to be quite honest I was shocked to see only $4,500 , I mean after all it’s Karl Sandoval who in my opinion made the most epic guitar , the polka dot Flying V for again in my opinion the greatest guitarist to ever live Randy Rhoads...     My cousin used to work for Karl Sandoval, when he was in the La Puente/Hacienda Heights area (I think). Cousin Tracy remembers Kevin DuBrow and Randy Rhodes walking in to check out the Polka Dotted Flying V.

    Makes me think of Randy Rhoads and his Jackson flying V. One of the best metal guitar players ever whose life was tragically cut short. Didn't know these were gibson/fender blends...i wonder if he did this before the famous EVH Frankenstrats.

    Cool that this V has the same strap I bought for my 60's Les Paul. Definitely a Gibson body. I have an '83 Gibson V I had customized that was built on my birthday per chance. Great one to stumble onto.

    The irony is: Gibson typically used a "tremolo" on the original guitar model itself. It was a Vibrola Maestro unit. Not a great system as it would go out of tune easily if you tried dive bombs, but all vibrato units would do this regardless, especially the Fender unit seen here. They were initially for tapping and creating a "tremolo" effect, hence the name. Guys like Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Clapton and Blackmore used them far more aggressively and along came Eddie Van Halen who became a dive bomb specialist. That ushered in a guitarist name Floyd Rose to patent the first locking tremolo and the rest is history

    He's pointing at the bridge sayign gitaurists of the time would do these crazy things with a tremolo - meaning a floating bridge like a Floyd Rose, and you needed a thick guitar so you could cut the cavity to have this. This guitar does not have one... Even though he's pointing at it.

    I don’t know what it is but the verifier at 2:52: “Can you hold this for one second?” *Proceeds to put on eyeglasses* “I’m blind.” That cracks me up every time. I know I shouldn’t laugh but that’s the sense of humour my old man always gives me every time he has to put on his eyeglasses too. XD

    The original owner was in the Latest Guitar World magazine and Stated that the guy who he originally sold it to said the guitar Got stolen from him in the early 90's in NYC. and here it is on Pawn Stars

    I would have lowered the price. There was no historical/collectible value mentioned. Brand new is $7K....and this guitar is very old and worn.

    This is a new and higher level of "let me call an expert on the matter", nothing less than the builder himself... Nice. Is funny tho that when he is leaving, he says to the customer "beautiful guitar", like a compliment to someone else´s item and not his own.
