Paul and Marco are rightfully acknowledged as being absolute masters of their chosen instruments, but I'd like to encourage everyone who sees this clip to check out Linus's solo records, especially Triangle,Your Favourite Record and Let Yourself Be Happy. Linus writes catchy, melodic songs full of great playing(mostly by himself),and has a voice similar in tone to that of Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze. Deserves to be much better known.

My nephew just stopped by and he is one to tell it like it is and he told me to look you up to listen to. I kinda said yeah ,sure I will . But I spaced your name out and kinda went, Yeah I always hear about the hottest players from friends so I take it with a grain of salt. About 20 min after he left I went to change my shirt and noticed a post it with your name on it . As I walked into the bathroom there was your name written in the mirror, several other post it's were found ,all with your name on it. So oooo short story long I sat down n typed your name into youtube and ,,,,,,, brother ,,let's just say I wasn't disappointed and I believe my nephew was right on the money about your guitar wizardry. I love it and I'm only 1/2 way thru one cut.. Hats Off ,Bravo and all that other groovy shit, You Smoke Brother Gilbert . ❤️🎶🎵🎸 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

He is super revered amongst guitar players who emphasize speed, aka most guitar players these days. It’s just that people tend to focus on different stuff as the years go on, as everyone in 00’s was talking about John Petrucci of Dream Theater, in the 80’s and 90’s Gilbert was talked about a loooot. I think his lack of actual good songs is what held him back. People were talking about Dimebag and Zakk Wylde more often. Randy Rhoads was still huge, deservedly so. People were already making fun of Metallica and Kirk Hammett though in the latter 90’s. It was understandable as long as they didn’t also trash their 80’s output which was amazing.

@@christiangasior4244 Lack of good songs, are you nuts? So many amazing songs from Racer X, Mr. Big and solo career. You forget a lot of what makes any career happen is luck and connections. Everybody who made it in the scene knew somebody--Gene Simmons discovered Van Halen; Jake E Lee was in Ratt before Ozzy; George Lynch was recommended to Don Dokken; etc. Paul Gilbert I think has been huge amongst guitar players from his days in MIT and of course the legendary VHS tapes. His shred metal band Racer X was relatively more underground but pretty big in 80s LA scene, but he became more mainstream and an international success with Mr. Big, which had more of a melodic hard rock sound, but they only had a handful of hits. They were mostly big in Japan in the early 90s.
