I feel China has a vocal resonance as her mom, but a voice that is all her own! Love how much she sounds like Grace!

was just gonna say that... and for what it's worth Paul has a great singing voice but it's always in the background in the songs, gets lost.

I really liked Paul & China Kantner and their deliveries. They made relevant points and answered questions. China is hot and smart. Paul is honest and brilliant.

+plant1deep4u2 YES! I love both of them (as well as the Zappas). I remember China guest starring on a Home Improvement episode as Wilson's hippie niece... totally beautiful woman and seems really cool personally too.

From what I read Gail Zappa gave her younger two children controlling interest over Frank Zappa's estate in her will, and now the older kids (Moon & Dweezil) hate the younger ones (Ahmet & Diva). I'd probably favor the Kantners over the Zappas in the family values arena.

The moment, about 4:00 in, when Gail quotes Frank Zappa's advice to his kids - "Don't be a jerk unless someone is paying you a lot of money," and THEN the camera cuts to Bill's great big smile....is GOLD.

China Kantner apparently didn't win the musical gene lottery even though her odds were so high, but she has a really cool personality. She should have done a lot more show hosting. I don't know what she is doing now, but it is probably still something for her to consider.

San Francisco took down the beautiful portrait of Paul Kantner on the south side of the intersection of Grant across from the Café. WHY? The News 'obit' was a blink of an eye & a lasting insult to his contribution to the Bay Area. Pathetic- 'Oh, btw...'

China was in a very good low budget comedy movie called "The Stoned Age", set in the mid-70s. Much better and more realistic than "Dazed and Confused". It was like Creem magazine to Rolling Stone.

But out of all the good things to come out of my childhood, becoming a christian was thee best, hands down....i still play baxter's, and crown of creation all of the time!! and red octopus

The real rebels nowadays are people in their 50ties and 60ties, yes the ones that rebelled when they weren young and still rebel! So indeed, the young generation of today is dead!!

I've heard there was a mid 80s MTV segment where China actually interviewed her dad Paul as a guest VJ, and I always wanted to see it. I wonder if anyone has it? Seriously how cool would it be to have liberal musician hippies for parents?

+JPMcFly1985Two Yes he was indeed a hippie, but his politics (along with the rest of the Airplane's) seemed to be either libertarian or anarchist. For an example of this, listen to Grace Slick's "shrimp rant" at their May 7, 1970 show. It's on youtube.
