Lyrics:
Oh the trouble with the truth
Is it's always the same old thing
So hard to forget, so impossible for me to change
Every time I try to fight it
I know I'll be left to blame
Oh the trouble with the truth
Is it's always the same old thing
And the trouble with the truth
Is it's just what I need to hear
Ringing so right, deep down inside my ear
And it's everything I want
And it's everything I fear
Oh the trouble with the truth
Is it's just what I need to hear
It had ruined the taste of the sweetest lies
Burned through my best alibis
Every sin that I deny
Keeps hanging round my door
Oh the trouble with the truth
Is it always begs for more
That's the trouble, trouble with the truth
That's the trouble, trouble with the truth
And the trouble with the truth
Is it just won't let me rest
I run and hide, but there's always another test
And I know that it won't let me be
'Till I've given it my best
The trouble with the truth
Is it just won't let me rest
That's the trouble, trouble with the truth [Repeat: x3]

This has always been an incredible song.
She's GORGEOUS in this video! She's always got such a classy vibe. Gosh, this whole album was literally my childhood. Was obsessed. I was 12-13 when this song was released, now I'm the same age Patty was in the video and that makes me wanna cry. Lol. One of my favorites. Btw Vince would've been so good on this song.

@AIvey I did see that. Vince said at the Opry a couple months ago that the main reason he cried during that was hearing Patty's voice. When she started singing, he immediately starts crying. He has always said she was like his sister. Can't get any better than those two.
Love ya Patty.
Also how was this not a #1 hit? Completely knocked me over when i got this cd.
This song now resonate with me, a life of lies that I have done, and I have been trying to get back with my life and family. Now, in counseling and dealing With truth......
Patty is my favorite county singer
🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️…beautiful, sad song by the incomparable Patty Loveless…for everyone that has been in a ‘relationship’ with a narcissist…❤❤❤
Good Lord, your voice owns my days. ❤️
What a talent.
I worked at a grocery store in the summer of 1997 where this entire album was part of the music shuffle they had on the store radio. Good memories and a great song! Takes me back to those days.

This song will get me on the dance floor.......I love this 🎵 song it's when country music was country 👌 🎶
Thank you for staying country now that the real country might not be cool too some . I love you music and i still love your songs you go Young lady.
Wow what a beautiful woman..
I was in middle school when this came out. If i remember correctly, and i know it varies... but the early 90s had some pretty fantastic country tunes. My sisters and i spent that entire decade playing CMT all day and Nick at Night every evening while we made up silly little games like kids do. As we got older we took everything seriously....like kids do. Any time i hear these songs i wish i could go back and smack my younger self upside the head and say "LIGHTEN UP!!! Don't worry so much!! It'll all be okay!!" Well, since i can't do that i just go around telling my own kids and the kids i meet along the way to lighten up, It'll be okay!! 😊
Thank you for your country voice and who you are as country
Fantastic, all around. The lean instrumentation and the tiny drum kit! It reminds me and is on the level of Don Henley.
Another great song I used to hear on the radio all the time during the spring and summer of 1997! This entire album is one of her best, imo.

Is she not in the hall of fame ,I figured for sure she would be
One of her best song. Such a great groove and I love the lyrics. I think this album was Patty at her vocal peak.
Wow! Haven't heard this forever. Such a beautiful and classy woman
Thanx
It looks like Patty Loveless got her haircut in this video. It looks great.
She's got it all and despite her being drop dead gorgeous, she isn't tacky and she's definitely the sort of girl most guys dream of dating!
I can agree with this song. Sometimes I freaking hate the truth when it's bad. When somebody don't sugarcoat the truth I get so pissed off
Love her albums
Sadly, most people can't handle the truth, even when it's the thing they need to hear the most. And yeah, that often includes me....

Another good older song/video! Excellent! :-)
That lime green and black and blue stripes are very Courtney Cox in scream and neve Campbell in the craft. Man I miss the 90s😢
I thought she was so hot in the late 80s and through the 90s
Love the song, don't care too much for the line green suit.
DAMN
I always loved this video, great to see it again on here.
The trouble with the truth is... People think you have to remain in that truth all of your life with NO NEW ADDITIONAL TRUTHS TO BE ADDED .
They like death and darkness
🧡
The trouble too is, with each onlooker it changes, anger turns it uglier
Got it mmmmmmmmmm
The trouble with the truth is, no one wants to believe.
The country music hall of Fame is a joke. I assumed for years that many artists were members, only to discover they are not. Patty Loveless, K.T. Oslin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, Lorrie Morgan and Tanya Tucker to name a few who have been terribly disrespected by CMHOF. I'm very selective about the music I like and spans over many genres. Broadway, rock, pop, rap, gospel, bluegrass and country....it's all in there. What is not in there is much of today's country music. Thank heavens for satellite radio where I can drive and not worry about changing the dial every other song. I can't listen to commercial country radio of today. It all sounds the same and they only let you hear what they want you to hear. Sorry for the rant! This is one of my fav. Patty songs. It drives the bitter realities involved with life right home to ya. And she does it perfectly! Recommend the entire album!
Galveston
This is an unnecessary comment but I'll make it anyhow. I play this song with the writer Gary Nicholson. It bugs the crap out of me that Emory Gordy made the 2 and the 1 chord no third. The 2 being a minor 7th chord and 1 being a strong major makes this whole song. There I said it. Now go about your business. Still a great song and Patty is the best.
This song jut fit in with the Democrat these days 😂😂. Beautiful PL as always wish she makes more songs like this .
