I like the way Patti is utter 1950's chic, and down-to-earth, all-American, at the exact same time. Love her.....
she's absolutely marvelous in her spontaneity, and the duet w Nat Cole is heart melting. So much to learn from them...
Omg, I Love Patti Page!!! I was born in the 70s. When I see her perform in the early 50s on KZread, it feels like I was there. I'm also a contralto like her.
I was born in 1950. As an adult in my thirties, I interviewed a new doctor.. the intake was an hour or so.. and she asked "what did you want to be when you were a little boy?" and my reply was "Patti Page".. she said "OH!.. started YOUNG!!" ha ha ha ha ha ha
I was lucky to be able to see Patti in concert and she came out while they were showing old tv clips on the screen. She was a great performer. My brother got to talk with her and got her signature on an album. It was from the page series she did in the fifties. Patti said that's an old one. She was one of the greats.
what a great era that was
Patti loved working with Nat and she liked music of all genres. When she left Mercury for Columbia she moved from being a highly successful pop singer to being an outstanding artist. Everyone who worked with her admired her talent, her professionalism and her generosity.
This is so cool, thanks for the upload.
God this is wonderful. Thank you for this vintage Americana.
Wonderful..strange that no one has mentioned Gene Krupa, Illinois J. and the others on this fantastic program. A class act all the way around!!

Patti mentions Gene Krupa right after they finish 'Fever" along with the other two performers. So nice to see these great jazz singers and musicians from the 50s.
Beautiful voice and lady. She had such good diction, very classy.
Originally telecast live on October 29, 1958. Patti's "OLDSMOBILE SHOW" appeared on ABC's Wednesday night schedule [right after "THE DONNA REED SHOW"] at 9:30pm(et) during the 1958-'59 season.
Wonderful! Thanks for posting this!
My stars thus is wonderfully refreshing. Thanks for sharing!
the rehearsal scenes at the end are special!
Excelente, é uma grande e notável cantora de todos os tempos. maneco - RGS - Brasil.
I think it was Lulie Jean Norman singing the high soprano line behind Nat Cole on the first ballad.

29:50- "Watch 'THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT FIGHTS'.....on ABC."
Here's a black and white TV show on your TV the size of your garage with a 10 inch screen! Oh, and don't forget to buy an Oldsmobile when this is over, because advertising! It's 1959, and everyone smokes all the time, TV has no color, cars have giant pointy fins, and records are the best way to listen to music!
On your end credits you have "Lovely Dimenticar" listed. The song's title is "Nom Dimenticar".
