Hu this is so weird for me I was born in Spain and my dad's Spanish and when we make them it's with white sauce aioli never seen this red sauce before hahaha

@@punchinpupun yeah my Spanish is rusty so I'll write in English sorry but I'm from mataro and yes I was mistaken my father just always made them with aioli he never made them with the red sauce but yes that's the original

Wouldn't it be papas bravas? I thought the Spanish world for potato is "papas"

papas is potato in most spanish speaking countries but spain (where this dish is from) is one of the few countries where it’s patatas!

I live in Spain and we mostly call it patatas, very few people call it papas but I always supposed they do to mess around since there is a huge latino comunity in here 😄

"papas" is more of a latin descending spanish and "patatas" Is more of a castilian spanish thing

Papas in latinamerica, patatas in Europe. The spanish found "papas" (🥔potatoes) and "batatas" (🍠 sweet potatoes) in América and brought them to Europe but mistook one for the other and pronounced them wrong too, so they mispronounced "batata" saying "patata" and instead of transporting the batatas 🍠 they brought the potatoes 🥔
