Great review. Great presentation. Lot of good information. Looks like a bomber piece of kit. However, I think I’d go for the DAS Parka as I would like to be “as warm as possible” on a break, or in an emergency. Also, I think I’d size down as I’d like to have the DAS under my waterproof layer. I know this is not how it’s intended to be used,. But, if it’s really coming down, I’d not take any chances on the DAS getting soaked. Where I live,it often rains sideways, and up in the mountains it can get really nasty. As I’m getting older, I freeze more easily. So the more dry I can keep myself and my kit, the better I’m off. Great logic behind the dry bag. I do just the same 👍🏻🇳🇴

Hi, nice review! I ordered the DAS light hoody and although I knew it would be thin fabric, I'm a little concerned now that I've seen it in person - it seems paper-thin. How would you say it holds up to daily abrasion (especially from backpack straps)? I won't go climbing in it, it's just for 'casual' use.

We have been very impressed with the durability. It may be thin but abrasion wise it is very good. PleSe remember it is built for small pack size and great warmth to weight ratio. I still think you will be surprised and impressed.

Looks like the one to replace my old Rab Xenon. The new Xenon isn't the same thing at all. Since it's Patagucci I'd better start saving up a bit first! Good run through of the Das Light.

Hey James, how tall are you? I just want to know to judge what size I should get. I am a leggy 6ft 3 and about 85kg.

I find that type of jacket can make me sweat under the arms more than a separate fleece and shell on top. How does this one in terms of underarm sweat. Would a zippered vent under the arm be useful?

Sorry for slow reply here, not currently logged in as Outside. The whole point of the Das light is to trap as much air and heat in as possible. Its trying not to be breathable on purpose to keep you warm. Its what's called static insulation. You may prefer active insulation such as the Nano air or Arcteryx proton. These breath better and layer better but are not as warm for their weight. I hope this helps, sorry again for slow reply

Which one would you recommend das or das light?

The das is warmer but not nearly as packable, I would choose the das light as I'm much more like to actually take it with me and it is very warm for its weight
