Pat Travers - Live @ The Diamond 1990
10 Snortin' Whiskey
Born in Toronto on April 12 1954, Pat Travers was playing guitar before he reached his teens, but it was watching Jimi Hendrix live that first inspired him to become a rock guitarist. For several years he paid his music dues playing the rock Clubs around Quebec in such bands as 'Red Hot' and 'Merge'. It was during this period when he was spotted by 50s rock n roll legend Ronnie Hawkins who asked the young guitarist to join him on tour. Despite the difference in musical style, Travers used the experience to further develop his skills. After a year however he decided it was time to go for his dream and at the age of 20 he packed his bags and moved to London, England. A short demo tape lead to him being signed to Polydor and in April1976 he released his debut album 'Pat Travers'. Following an appearance at the Reading festival Pat continued to tour in front of huge audiences and released another two albums before heading to America.
The US took to Travers like ducks to water and he gained a massive following and much critical acclaim for both his live shows and his studio albums two of which, Live! Go For What You Know and Crash and Burn, entered the US top 30. The 80s established him as one off the most distinctive guitarists on the scene, combining heavy metal riffology with moments of musical genius. After bowing out of the studio for several years due to his disillusionment with the record industry he recorded School of Hard Knocks in 1990, an album that was to prove a huge success amongst his fans and win him many new admirers. This was followed by the album 'Boom Boom -- Live at the Diamond'. He continues to play live concerts today and has established a reputation of one of the very best hard rock guitarists in the world. Now for the first time ever, you can witness the living legend playing many of his best loved tunes to an ecstatic Toronto audience.

As an Amateur keyboardist I got to open for these guys back around 1990. He was amazing. Pat traverse also rocks the Hell out of keyboards. it was also the first and only time I got to play through a pro sound rig with pro sound people. It was the peak of my amateur band days :)

I’ve had the pleasure of talking to Pat Travers and his wife on Facebook! He told me the story of being in a hurricane! He said the day after his wife and him went out to check the damages when he heard the cries of kittens! They rescued them and raised them! I told him my love of cats and animals and of course his fantastic music! Anyway he wrote me back and thanked me for the info I shared. After that I Really appreciated the fact that he and his wife are truly down to earth and humbled me! Thanks Pat! With love Jan!

@klausschreyer7062 Before I actually met him and became friends, I'd always find a way to brush past him, as he always had the best texured clothes! He had a white Jerry Seinfeld puffy shirt, that was pretty open. Out in Cali with Peter, they are playing, and a girl was right in front of him, and when he bent over, she reached up, and snatched a handful of hair, and ripped it out of his chest! My momma bear kicked in, and went after her. Peter is clueless to what happened, so he is confused as to my actions. I only got a few feet, and the tour manager, the late, great Danny Pochedley, stops me, and deadass asks me what I think I can do about it. Put it back in? Poor Jerry's chest is bleeding, and he's a whiter shade of pale. I wanted ice packs for him, and again, Danny asks how I think he could hold an ice pack, while playing! Those were some days I hope to never forget! I hope Danny and Peter are lobster diving in their version of heaven.

I saw the Pat Travers Band at Tipatina's in New Orleans around 1986. He came out on stage and announced that he just had one of his favorite guitars stolen backstage and he was pissed he thought of canceling the show, but instead he play an awesome show. He's great live.

Yes he had his LP Jr stolen. When he was first starting he had a brand new Lespaul who his mother just sighed for stolen at the Chadiere in quebec. Ive been there many times.

People consistently underestimate how many great Canadian artists there are and not just Pat. Phillip Sayce is Canadian as is Colin James; and there are many others.
