Part 3: • Pastor Troy on C-Murde...
Part 1: • Pastor Troy Started Li...
--------
In this clip, Pastor Troy opened up about dropping his big hit "We Ready" in 1998, which he revealed was the first song he ever recorded in the studio. Pastor Troy went on to speak about his other hit "No Play in GA," which started out with a recreation of a phone call warning Master P and No Limit that he was coming through. He then clarified that he was never personally coming at Master P, and Pastor Troy stated that it was just about music. To hear more, including Pastor Troy feeling like he hasn't gotten the credit he deserves, hit the above clip.

If you from the south and grew up in the 90s you know how important PT is. His first album I declared war he produced the whole album and top of that he started that solider rap shit that brought us miracle and drama and many others. PT is 100% southern royalty. I named my project DSJB (Down South JerZey Boy) in honor of this man and what he did for the south. Bless up!

I remember in 98 (I was a Junior) went to my fam reunion in Toccoa, GA. HUGE ass block party. And "No Mo Play in GA" came on. WHOLE BLOCK from kids to aunts and uncles and EVERYBODY screamin WE READY! So me and my bro are like WTF is this song?!? Imagine hearind a crowd of 2-300 people all in unison and half screamin "WE READY" the other half "Fuck whatcha say, aint no mo play in GA". It was beautiful. That's when me and bro got turned on to it. OMG that is a moment I'll never forget. So we go back to NC, and the next year everyone starts finally bumpin that song and I'm like "Yall Late" lol. AH man the good ole days.

Great interview thus far. No lies detected. I’m from Macon, GA and was in High School when ‘We Ready’ dropped. I can confirm that ‘We Ready’ was a BONAFIDE HIT! The whole album too. As a teenager, Troy was literally my favorite rapper from 98 - 2001. I remember when I was working at JC Penny and Troy came in. He was really nice to me and bought hella UGA gear.

He has an Strong built up fan base just like Boosie,Tip, Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane etc. and I’m from Alabama we were over here bumping that No mo play in GA, that song is a straight Classic, like the rest of his music Specially that Vice Versa. PT ain’t just a Georgia Rap legend, he’s a Down South Rap Legend in general. He represented for all of us in the south just like the rest.
