Pastor Troy is a down-south rap legend! The Atlanta native helped change the sound of music in Atlanta in 1999 when he released his debut album "We Ready, I Declare War".
We recently caught up with Pastor Troy for an in-depth conversation about his career & current projects. In part 1, PT explains how he has stayed relevant for over 20 years in the rap game now, he talks about owning his recording masters for the majority of his music, he talks about recording his classic song “No Mo Play In GA” the very first time he went to a music studio, he speaks on going back to making his own beats recently cause he can’t find anyone else that is making the sound he wants, he explains why he decided to go at Master P & No Limit Records on the phone call intro to “No Mo Play In GA”, he talks about writing his debut album while sitting in church, he explains how that album opened up the doors for gangsta rap in Atlanta, he talks about not getting his credit & respect for opening those doors, he also challenges rappers to put more effort into their raps and speak on the consequences to the street life and so much more. I Ain't Use To Like Pastor Troy Because I Was A Big No Limit Fan But I Respect Him He Grew Up He A Legend That Don't Get Enough Respect
You can tell how passionate and invested Pastor Troy is about his craft. And the impact his music has had on commercial music is so Deep. He's changed the genre completely. He represents the Deep South culture.

I'd see Pastor Troy everywhere in Atlanta. Not just at a mall shopping but at the corner store, the game stop, I mean everywhere. You may even be in the hole in the wall strip club and looked next to you and Troy was there. Was always miggling with the people.

Me and my crew had the privilege of opening up for Pastor Troy's first performance in the east side in 1999 at the Atrium...shit was crazy...the crowd was like the sea....everybody lit aAF! Then we opened up for C-Murder at the Warehouse a few months later...he walked in that bitch solo-dolo, thru the crowd...killed that shit! hopped off stage, walked thru the crowd and out the front door like boss! Everybody got out of his way....our producer was the DJ that night...as soon as C-Murder hopped off stage he played No More Play In GA lol....
