Connie was so beautiful
There isn't enough of Dick Shawn on youtube.Today's episode showed him as quite the adlibber--and very funny.
Dick Shawn collapsed and died onstage, but no one in the audience moved very quickly. They thought it was part of his act. No joke.
Wow, Connie and that blonde female Jeannie, beautiful women.
I loved Shawn in It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World!

Check him out in the 1960 movie "Wake Me When It's Over."
To me, Shawn was a very talented guy...

I'll 🍻🥂 to That,! ...While 😂..
Amazed they didn't think of "host" as the opposite of "guest."
Connie Stevens! Oh, my!
I'm always fascinated by men like Dick Shawn who have a forehead that's only about two inches high before the hairline begins.
Dick Shawn was apparantly a REAL character, even for a movie actor, lol!

Dick Shawn was the voice of Snow Miser in "The Year Without A Santa Claus". You can't get much more of a character then that!
This show aired 1 day after my 7th birthday..
Apparently Connie Stevens was pregnant here. Her daughter Joely was born October 29, 1967.

I wonder if anyone ever told Dick Shawn, that the Grand Canyon is in Arizona, not Colorado.

Sure wish you had year after this. My mom was on with John Astin from the Addams Family.
The first clue for "guest" should have been "visitor".
🎤 was a tough one, I woulda said 📣, Mr Shawn shoulda used the clue silly for putty dontcha think? I realize they're under pressure in the lightening round but Connie shoulda said ounce for pound

Agree about "ounce" for "Pound". ( I kept saying that to Connie,,,, but she did not listen.🙃) Or "Ton". The young gal had no clue about British money.
Wow, their contestants weren't very bright on this episode. 😞

Wow you definitely got that right! One of the remarks in this comments thread wondered whether Dick Shawn ever realised that the Grand Canyon wasn’t in Colorado. But I really think we should cut him some slack, considering that the last woman contestant ‘Jeanette,’ now words fail me. I’ve seen blocks of wood display more mental acuity. Her performance in the two lightening rounds was astounding - that anyone could respond (or not) so unintelligently to great clues. Or maybe she was just very heavily sedated. For pound, Connie tried saying weight, didn’t work, ounce, nope. Connie: English. . . money Jeanette: Uncomprehending head shake. Connie, again: English. . . money Jeanette, another head shake, dollar? Yes Jeanette a dollar is an example of English money😐 But having finally twigged that the word in question might be about money or weight, did she put them together, along with Connie ‘pounding’ the desktop. Nope. Brilliant job there Jeanette. This English university major, and aspiring novelist has been given the clues ‘weight’, ‘ounce,’ ‘money,’ ‘English’ ‘money’ (twice). It all goes right over her head. One example of several fairly easy words in her two lightening rounds that she found impossible to work out. Still she managed to defeat her opponent Armistead twice, which tells you a lot about what a brilliant contestant he was. What a pair!😮

What are you talking about? Dick Shawn's first partner was incredible! And when Dick got "stalk" from "corn" and "hunt"--come on, you've got to be kidding me....
This being my second view, I just noticed that Jeannie looks alot like Diana Krall. What do you think? A last ditch clue for Lane would be Lois
Gun; pull; holster ~ Draw.
I wonder if Jeanette ever published her novel?

Connie's marriage to Eddie Fisher lasted all of two years. Would be her last.

I'm not familiar with the rules of the game, but were you allowed to give rhyming words as clues? I could think of a few instances where that would have been helpful.

Yes, rhyming words were allowed but Mr. Know-little (A.L.) did not like them, grumped about them and frowned on people doing it. Whatever works to win some money is A-OK with me, as long as it is legal.

@@gusloader123 problem is how do you let your partner know it's a sound alike and not a clue? That's why it doesn't work. It screws them up.

@@kurtmorris454 It often did work, especially if the regular clues were not working after 5 clues. Some players (contestants & celebrities) on PW did not think very well. I have no idea why they wanted to be contestants. {[ Before entering a Chess Tournament in a big city for cash, a person should first play chess with a neighbor or relative at home. It seems to me that several players got onto the PW show just to get their face on TV. some just stare at the celebrity like a deer in the headlights on a nighttime road.]}

Dick Shawn looks like Benny Hill and sounds like Robin Williams.
