    This episode took place exactly 20 years to the day before Dick Shawn's death onstage of a heart attack. It took the audience quite a while to realize that it wasn't part of his act.

    Connie Stevens kept berating herself. I never saw her as “ stupid,” but someone along the way told her she was, and not just that jerk who wrote that letter to her. That’s sad. I wish someone had affirmed her sometime.

    C.S. was probably remembering the words written in the "Entertainment" rags found near the check-out stands at Grocery Stores and Drug Stores / Gas Stations. Many women HATE a woman who is cute and has a nice figure. {On the other hand, those same whiners/complainers/insulters liked that moo-moo wearing, unattractive, 300-pound woman who was on the TV program "Hee-Haw" about the same time period. Ugh.} Many women get/got insanely jealous because Connie Stevens got a Movie or TV part and they did not, so they run their yaps to the various Show-biz gossip columnists (now, trash mags like "People" Magazine) and other rags and "blog" sites.

    I watched Password when it first came on TV in the early sixties as a 1st and 2nd grader as my mom was folding laundry and ironing clothes in the afternoons. Fast forward to now and the re-runs here on You Tube --- (( thanks for posting the show Page Admin / Host ! 🙂 )) Neither Allen Ludden nor half of the guests or contestants could spell very well. I would have thunk that after all those Que cards and scripts that they read over the years for Movie, Stage, and TV roles they would have learnt better English spelling/language skills. Last night I watched an episode, and the P-W was "Pail" (a bucket), and some ignorant contestant thought it meant "white". 🤕 Argh! Pale as in: Behold, a Pale Horse. Pail is in put water in the Pail. "You can SEE the sea if you are standing on the beach." Two different words. Sheer as in see-thru / very thin. Shear is something you do to a sheep to get its wool using a pair of Shears. I wonder how often the Dr. of the Dictionary man (the off-camera guy with the buzzer) cringed hearing A.L. and the others foul up the English language. As for the word "Nightcap" - just shows how many alkies were on stage and in the audience --- they kept thinking about booze. A "Nightcap" was something worn on your head at nighttime when houses / cabins / castles / hotels / shacks were heated by fireplaces at nighttime. They kept your head warm, while the blanket kept your body / feet warm. Nowadays most folks have central heating and air conditioning ducts and vents in their bedrooms.

    Am I the only person that thinks Dick Shawn looks like a twin to Alec Baldwin? I thought Dick was Alec when I first turned on a different episode/rerun of that weeks lineup.Couldn't figure why Ludden kept calling him Dick.

    They could be related. Several folks in show-biz land are related. They often change a surname to avoid confusion by casting directors. Cousins / Half-siblings, {Examples: James Arness --> Marshall Matt Dillon on "Gunsmoke". His brother Peter Arness changed his screenname to his Mom's maiden name (Graves) so he would not be confused with his brother. Peter Graves was on "Mission Impossible" at the same time his brother was on "Gunsmoke". P.S. Both shows can be seen on re-runs now. 🙂}

    Blame the contestants on this episode. They are some of the worst I have ever seen on Password. I am no fan of Dick Shawn ((he was too much like loudmouth Jerry Lewis)) but the contestants on this episode seemed clueless. They probably got in the wrong TV show building. They were probably trying to be on "The Price is Right" or "Let's Make a Deal". No brainwork needed for those shows.
