I think she must have been a fashion designer. She had three sewing machines, tons and tons of patterns, sewing notions... And all the clothes I’ve seen have tags, so it’s doesn’t seem like she was making a lot of clothes for herself! I really wonder who this lady was!!

From what you showed of the just the high-end coats, he could make back his original investment with the sale of just 25 - 30 coats of the best coats. My grandma was a pretty major hoarder of bed sheets and linens. Not house-filling or anything, but pretty much every cabinet in her house was jam-packed with linens when she died. I think she only ever used the same two sets of anything, but she’d just keep on forgetting that she already had them when she bought more. Or maybe she thought they’d be nice to have around when her grandchildren came to visit and stay over (even though she lived just down the street from us and there weren’t any other cousins who would ever be staying with her). It’s hard to tell what’s actually happening in peoples’ lives and we can only speculate based on what’s left behind.

I would think one or more graduate students may be interested in the clothing to document for a program thesis or study. The quantity and quality of the clothing may be unlikely or impossible to ever find as a group like this again.
