Rapid Prototyping and Antifragile Manufacturing Part 3
This is also a live demonstration of 'rapid prototyping' with an 'antifragile' approach - making a setup -in my case a lathe for making rings really fast from old steel pipe - simply and cheaply with readymade components, and evolving it with rapid trial and error towards maximum robustness and optimal efficiency. And having fun doing it - rapid prototyping requires fun and play, a no worries time in a state of manic flow... coffee (or tea) helps, as does mindfulness meditation - being in the moment. Plus a bit of heedlessness, Dionysian ecstasy and feeling rather than Apollonian abstract thinking. It also helps to have a shed and lots of found materials and bit and pieces. And a collection of battery powered drills, candles, spray oil, and self tapping woodscrews... Oh and preferably a bandsaw.
