Thank you. I did the firmware upgrade on my CT-S1000V right before I found this video, and I followed that same article you have. It went smoothly with no problems, but I am so thankful for all the disclaimers you're including, because one cannot be too careful with these firmware updates. I had a laptop BIOS firmware update backfire on me badly a couple of years ago, through no fault of my own. The laptop works like a charm now, but it needed to be shipped to the repair depot, and it all took quite a while, and it needed a new motherboard (the mobo had some issues from the get-go, but the firmware update just sped up its demise, basically). Thankfully, it was under warranty. I really like the coverage of the features included in the update. I have several MIDI splitters at home, and I like pairing the CT-S1000V with my Roland Juno DS. It works like magic if I control the Roland from the Casio, but the other way has been problematic. I've been using the DOREMiDi USB MIDI host to connect the two keyboards, and that's been working great, so I suspected there might have been things in Casio's MIDI implementation that needed some improvement. Glad some of those things have been addressed in this update.

Love your precise work and love the brand. Good to know sharing lyrics is possibel now via stick and mail... It's such a good looking Keyboard, amazing... As i mentioned in an other comment, the price is unbeliveable down at the time and there's only a 10€ difference to the 500....why is that 🤔greetings again from a german fan👍😎

Thank you again, I'm glad to hear that my videos are helping people and I very much appreciate the compliment! Over here in the USA the S1000V is approx $73 more expensive than the S500, so some buyers may prefer to save some money with the S500 if they really don't want the Vocal Synthesis. In Europe it appears to make much more sense to go for the S1000V over the S500 if there's only 10 Euros difference. For sure, the S1000V is a good looking keyboard, its black and red colour scheme makes me think of Kraftwerk! And the S500 is also good looking, just a little more understated in its blue and silver colour scheme..

Would it be possible to save the lyrics directly to a stick on the smartphone and then load them via the USB interface on the Casio? I have sticks like this with two plugs, a normal USB and a micro USB! And what about samples? You can also load these via a USB stick, right? And can you also use this stick on Android and the Casio? Or are there formatting problems? Thank you very much for the informative videos about the two new keyboards! The day after tomorrow my CT-S 500 arrives and I'm really excited 😁

Page 253 of the S1000V User Guide shows what actions can be carried out using a USB flash drive. Lyrics are created using the mobile Lyric Creator App, and can then be transferred from the mobile App to the S1000V via its USB Micro B connector. You can also "share" the lyrics from the App by emailing the file to an external email address. This file can then be copied to a USB flash drive, and with the firmware update, can then be transferred from the flash drive to the S1000V. Yes, samples can be loaded in from a USB flash drive (either as WAV or in Casio's proprietary sample format), as long as they meet the S1000V's requirements. Note that the S1000V/ S500 USB micro B port is for connecting to a mobile device to communicate with the app, or to connect to a computer host for USB MIDI purposes. The full size USB port on the Casiotones is for loading/ saving data to a flash drive, or for using the Blue Tooth adapter. Just to clarify, you're getting an S500 but you are asking about lyrics? Remember that only the S1000V has the "Vocal Synthesis" feature that uses lyrics. The S500 has everything that the S1000V has EXCEPT the Vocal Synthesis feature. Hope this helps!

@@CasioChaosTheory Yes, I know that the CT-S 500 does not have speech synthesis. (unfortunately) But I was wondering whether it wouldn't be easier to drag the texts directly from the smartphone onto a stick and then into the keyboard! Without the detour via email. That was purely theoretical for me, and as a suggestion for other users. Thank you very much for the detailed answer! Happy Easter 🪺

Is your kitchen your studio, or is your studio set up like a kitchen? Either way, that's FLY!

It's not the first time that I've been asked if my studio is a kitchen! It's actually an upstairs bonus room, aka a "den", and the built in desk and cabinets that you see were installed by the previous owners as an office. The clue that it's actually an office and not a kitchen is the height of the work/ desk surfaces, as for a kitchen they'd need to be at standing height whereas mine are at sitting height. But with the granite work tops and the cabinets it does look rather like a kitchen! I think you've already seen my Conclusion episode, and for those interested I included some bonus "behind the scenes" bonus footage showing my studio set up. In that footage you can see the room that my studio is in, and it's just a single upstairs room with the built in cabinets and table tops. Maybe I should call it the "Kitchen Studios"!
