Part 1 - Introduction/ Unboxing/ Overview - Casiotone CT-S1000V In Depth Review
Музыка
Casio Chaos Theory takes a very deep dive and examines this recently released Casiotone keyboard that appears to have all the charm and quirks of those vintage and much loved Casiotones from decades ago. Plus a whole heap of other powerful features and sounds to boot.
In this Part 1 of a series of CT-S1000V review videos, we get introduced to the S1000V, unbox it, and also take a close look at its design and features. The subsequent parts of this series will examine in depth all of the many features it has to offer, with many demonstrations showing what this keyboard can do. Each episode will also discuss and critique the features, and also highlight the S1000V's strengths and weaknesses.
Part 1 and Part 2 (The Tones) will be uploaded simultaneously, with subsequent episodes being release approximately on a weekly basis. All episodes will end up as part of a CT-S1000V Review playlist making it easy to locate a specific feature.

All raw audio from the CT-S1000V was recorded directly from its line-out sockets into a Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD sound interface, and then directly into a DAW (Mixcraft Pro Studio 9). No VSTs/ effects were used on the CT-S1000V raw audio, other than a Limiter to prevent any clipping.

The only one video that explains the use of the tiny black plastic round pieces, thank you so much
OMG! Why didn’t I find your channel earlier!! What an useful channel. I am a singer, not a professional keyboard player. I love Casio and currently playing one.

I love your work; I recently purchased a CT-S500, and I’m sure your series will help me (😢) with it’s many features…

Alien baby meets Digitalus baby.
HA!! HA! Dropping hints eh?! It IS fun to play with no? I am still on the fence due to the lack of 5 pin din midi in and out(mainly lack of midi IN). But hey, they may make a midi based version someday that I can trigger the Casio and voices section with my Yamaha RM1X hardware midi sequencer like I wanted. But until then I will enjoy vicariously through you lovely youtubers lol.

You can use the Kenton USB Midi Host to add 5 pin DIN midi for an all-hardware setup.

Yes, it's very fun indeed and also has some great sounds and features onboard. As for the lack of 5 pin DIN MIDI, this is a trend not unique only to Casio as other keyboards in this price category also tend to not have it and only come with USB MIDI. A shame, but a sign of the times I guess. Plus I guess that Casio deemed the majority of users would not use 5 pin DIN MIDI and would be more likely to use USB MIDI with a DAW and a computer. Still, as Cubik303 pointed out, you can get standalone hosts such as the Kenton that will allow the S1000V to work with an all hardware set up, so all is not lost.
Just tries out a cts500 in store, just wondering if the scroll wheel is somewhat stiff on your unit?

The data entry/ jog wheel on my S1000V is not at all stiff. It's clicky because it rotates in steps, but it is otherwise light and smooth in action. The K1, K2 Volume, pitch bend and modulation wheels are also all smooth when you turn them. Sounds to me that the S500 you tried might have something wrong with the jog wheel. Maybe see if they have another S500/ S1000 that you could try?

I added a lineout to my external sound card, but still hear sound from the keyboard speakers. How do you manage to do this?

I use a 3.5mm jack to jack lead, plug one end into the S1000V's headphone socket and the other end not connected to anything. That cuts off the speakers. You can use any 3.5mm jack to do this, though if you use the 3.5mm jack from a set of headphones you might still hear some sound coming out of the headphones themselves.

You can also switch off the speakers by going into the settings via the menus. I just found it quicker and easier to plug in a 3.5mm jack!
