Part 1: How to breed rabbits + telling the difference between bucks & does

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

I breed Silver Fox and Creme d’Argent rabbits for meat, breeding stock, and show. Rabbits are amazing little animals that have the ability to provide meat for even the smallest homestead, and I love helping people get started with them! Often times I’m asked questions about breeding, kindling, and raising rabbit kits (as well as choosing the best candidates from show or breeding stock). This is Part One of my 3-part series all about rabbit breeding & raising.

I appreciate your love for your rabbits, never be afraid to teach those that are just getting started with rabbits. There is a lot to learn about proper care for rabbits.Nothing beats being taught by someone that obviously loves their rabbits.Thank you for your videos and please don't hesitate to continue to be yourself!

Loved the music during the second set of rabbits breeding! 🎶 ❤️ I’m glad you showed the genders for those of learning, we can’t learn if it is blurred out. Also while you were showing the genders I couldn’t help thinking how sweet the bunny feet are on the bottom. They got cute feet!! I’m looking forward to your next video.

Me and my wife are neither rabbits. We've watched lots of videos and have been trying to figure out how to tell the difference between the boys and the girls are the bucks and the dose. This is the first video that actually helped explain it to where we can now definitely figure out which one is. Which last time we tried to figure it out? We ended up with a pregnant rabbitwhen we didn't want one and so now thanks to this video and thanks to your help. We can keep from having that problem again and hopefully we continue. Learning and moving forward with our new endeavor of raising rabbits

Truly enjoyed watching your video. Informative and well done. One of the best I have seen out of many I have watched. Wish I had found you first. Your handling of the rabbits encouraged me to engage more with my own. As I am just getting started (2 weeks in) and have a 9 mo old Satin doe who charges and bites. She has gotten much, much better but forces me to be slightly fearful and constantly on guard with her. We are both having to learn to trust one another which is developing slowly. I haven't attempted to hold any of my 6 other rabbits due to the experiences I have had with her. Thank you for sharing!

I have had Silver Fox Rabbits for 3 years. Best I have ever had. Been raising rabbits for 30 years and they have been the most docile, calm rabbits. I purchased 2 does 7 months old with pedigrees yesterday. The breeder said they are ready to breed but I told her I will wait 2 months. They seem very small to me. Dont have a scale to weigh them. Eyes and coat look healthy. I checked to be sure they were does b4 purchase. I am concerned about their small size.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have just bought 3 English Angoras (1buck 5 months old, 2 does 10 weeks old) and I’m trying to learn all I can about breeding them before they are old enough to start trying. I wish that I had a grown up 4 H program that would lead me and teach me. I want to be a good and responsible breeder. Ps. I also copied your hutch set up. KW cages and had some guys build the hutch to hold them. So much better than cleaning trays everyday. With the angora wool they absolutely need to be in wire bottom cages. Very helpful video!!

You did a great job preparing this this video. Had never heard of table breeding, but it makes perfect sense. I hear you about sad when some of the ones you raise up and they leave the rabbitry, Had a young NZW buck that I delivered yesterday that was just a sweet boy. I have a Lavender Rex boy that is going to make someone a great buck for foundation that I will really be sad to see go, but you have to do what you do. Thanks again. Many blessings.

You’re very welcome! It has been sad to see all of my starters leave, but I’m happy with where we’re heading 😊
