*A lot of episode 1 is introducing the truck and telling it's story. We do get some work done in this episode though! I'm starting to think that it would've been easier to just go through the bottom with the gas tank, but the exhaust was very much in the way. Removing the bed was quite a bit of work. Looking for opinions on putting in the new one. Should we just try to cut off and/or move the exhaust and go through the bottom? It looks like most people install it that way. Episode 2 will be CRAZY!*

Your correct
Power wash all the exposed frame while you got the bed off and gas tank out. Will help identify if there are any other issues underneath.
Love seeing two brothers working on a rig together be thankful for your bro my man
When I first started extracting all the junk out of my dad's old car, it took me hours to go through it while reminiscing about the smallest details, like old receipts, coins from the 60s, articles of clothing, etc. It's exciting.
It's in really nice shape. Always liked this body style. Good luck with the bed. 🤘😎🇺🇸

@@Natd0gsef well it's in good enough shape that you probably wouldn't be wasting $ even if you had to put a motor in it. Small block ford crate motors are a good chunk of change but then you know what you have. And anything else is not a big deal.
I came to this video because I have a red 93 f150 as well that my dad has passed down to me from my father recently... when I heard yours was passed down from your dad who has passed I immediately became more connected. I feel your pain man.
Bro watch that shoulder, you need to take that stuff slow. You dont want an injury thatll lock that thing up in constant pain!
I just inherited a 1992 just like this, Red, short bed regular cab with 53k miles, 5 speed stick, can't wait to bring her back on the road!
I a newbie car guy myself, and I’m currently rebuilding a 1981 GMC Caballero, rebuilding the motor and all. Everyone starts somewhere. Keep up the great work, I’m loving the content.
Man I’m not even a full 3 minute in and my heart dropped. We have a very similar story/project. When my grandpa passed my dad inherited the 93 then years down the road I lost dad so the 93 became mine. I got a big project on my hands and with it being just me I know it will take some time but with people like yall out in the world making great videos, educational videos, & your stories the process might be a little less stressful haha. Seems like I’ve been searching forever for tips!!! Much appreciated!!!!
Bad bed that's like the cleanist bed I have ever seen on a truck of that year

Just got a rusty one for 500 w a cap on it the bed is pristine
Nice looking truck. Probably best to change all hoses and belts. Flush the cooling system, and there is a chance the rad and/or heater core may be partially plugged meaning more parts. Hopefully you have turned the engine by hand (not the starter) to make sure it’s not locked. While you have the plugs out it would be a good idea to put a bit of oil in each cylinder and roll the engine over to prime the oil system and wet the cylinder walls. Keep wrenching!
Drop the brackets for the fuel tank. The tank is place up through the bottom versus the top. The tank is removable from the top but not replaced through the top unfortunately.
I have a 93 f150 also! It sat for 10 years! I replaced the starter relay and it fired right up on 10 year old gas! Love the fuel injected 5.0L!!!
You know, that model of truck was a very good one, tough and reliable and easy to work on. Uggh, I can smell that varnished gas from here.
Man that's a clean truck! Love the idea of keeping a family hands-down alive and getting it back on the road. I hope it doesn't take much time from the Mustang, but I'd definitely love to see more!
Superb content and great to see you braced the bed whilst it's off the truck. First time we've seen you without your hat.
my dad was too busy selling fords at his dealership, and taking care of a wife and 7 kids to keep much! But, it is great to sea your grandfather left you guys so many projects to work on. It's a labor of love when you fix one up and drive it, knowing your dad, or grandfather once took so much pleasure in these vehicles, and driving you and your brother around town.
I really like that generation of truck. I picked up a Haynes manual for my project, they're pretty helpful. There's another company that makes them too called Chilton.
No rust, no dents. It’s in perfect shape and the dash isn’t even destroyed. I love it. Anyone in the rust belt with me is jealous.
Load that that tank from the bottom. I own the same truck and replaced mine a few years ago...You could have changed it without removing the bed....your learning..Hats off to you!
This is so cool! I just got a hold of my dad's 95 f150 identical to this one. I'm going to pick it up on the 4th of July 2024. Might even make my own video.
Junkyard Mook and Kevin, aka "Junkyard Digs" just resurrected her 89 F150, went through the same thing with tanks, fuel senders, tank switching valve, then the new lift pumps. Great trucks, lot's of parts when they die, especially fuel injection.
that truck is so worthy of a paint job ..thats a killer truck
Carry a spare fuel pump relay. I had that issue with my '92 F150 with the 5.0L. Had the trans and transfer case and rear end rebuilt and at about 80K. Put in a B&M shift improvement kit. Worked fantastic for 100k when I sold it to a friend. He had it for a few years. Take care of that shoulder. It will come back to haunt you if you don't.
A little advice. When buying parts and you are doing it ahead of time I always shop the typical local parts stores and compare them to online store prices esp. rockauto and ebay. Depending on the part you could save some pretty good money. You just may have to wait a week or two for shopping. Keep up the good work my friend.
Of course it will run. EDIT: Sorry about your dad. :( I bet he can see you working on the truck, and he's stoked about it.
Formiliar Site looking around your yard equipment parts everywhere my dad was in construction also good to see brothers working together👍
For that being a now 3rd generation farm truck, that is a clean ass truck.
My opinion one of the best body styles for the F-150 they're also really reliable if you just keep up with standard maintenance
it is fun to listen to person that is learning on the run, that f150 is in very good condition as far as rhe body i dd npt see any rusted wheel wells.the tailgate is not all bent up.a paint job will make new again
love the videos keep up the good work
Making memories, that’s what it’s all about :)
I love all old cars and trucks. I would like to own one myself sometime when I can afford it.
Faded paint is just a truck's version of grey hair, still think you should leave it! lol Love the roll of TP in the toolbox, always need an emergency roll in your truck

Keep up on the learning. Good deal on your brother helping too. I like both truck and Mustang rebuilds😁😁😁
Awesome truck! I've got one almost like it. 1993 great trucks
Bed looks pretty good. Glad for you. 👍👍
I live like 5 minutes from Bill Elliot, glad to see another fan. Awesome truck too!
Get them running guys your dad will be looking down feeling so proud of his son's👍
302 Windsor, AOD/T-5 trans/8.8 axles. One of the most rugged, reliable trucks ever made hands down. Basically will run for 300K miles and with a refresh/rebuild will run another 300K.
Its great to see someone on youtube that is close to where i live. I live in sevierville. The videos are great man😀
Keep going on the truck, I'm digging it.
Great content brother! Appreciate it.
That is a slick truck and a 4x4 to boot. Great truck! Get her going.
I like your videos clips, sorry to hear about your grandpa passing away and your dad, but you and your brother make a great team. Keep it up guys!!
The last of the good ford truck's right there I say

I'm gonna enjoy this restoration too!
Hey man, Danor the italian from Munich here :-) just fallen by coincidence on your video but very happy to have found it! First of all I am very sorry for your dad, I experienced the same when I was 24 :-( btw I am a car passionate but unfortunately don't know much on american car... But I am really looking forward to see your next episodes!
Awesome Bill from Dawsonville! Your Grandad had good taste. Great truck.
You seem to be off to a good start, keep working at it and you'll get there bro 👍🇺🇸
Keep it up guys ! You have a pretty awesome potential 💪
Continue bro you have an amazing channel mush love from canada 🇨🇦
I had a 95 I bought off of a friend of mine that sat for several years. Had moss growing on it. It had the 5.0 as well. Once I got the truck going, it ran like a scalded dog!
Great video .
Truck actually looks really solid for sitting out in the elements for that many yrs
Bill Elliot is the man for sure. I had the same plate on my 93 F150. But it was white and 2 wheel drive. 228000 miles on when I sold it.
Replace the rear shocks and paint the frame with rust encapsulator while the bed is off. Won't take that much longer. Good start so far.
HI Mate Good luck with the project, wouldnt be great ol Bill knew knew about the truck seeing your ol grandpa was such a fan,and helped our in restoring it
Love the Ford truck it is a good truck nice survivor.
666 The Number of the Beast! ..HellYeah! ...... id keep that truck bed liner if it just needs a good clean up!!!
Great truck😀🇳🇴
it's rare to see the dash pad not ripped or torn, also you may have the stamped FORD behind the aluminum on the tailgate. If your vacuum cannister looks to be developing rust holes, switch it out with a plastic one.
Well you guys wont be bored for a while, and new sub. here
You are saving yourself a whole lot of headaches by replacing the whole gas tank! Old gas and EFI doesn't play well together. When you get it running I would add some fuel system cleaner to the gas tank to help clean out the lines and the injectors. Remove and install the tank from the bottom! You may need to drop the exhaust to do it. Looks like it's got some flowmaster or flowmaster knock off mufflers on it. That is one solid truck!!
Look forward to this on, my everyday driver is a 95 f150. Wish I had the heavy equipment to move things.
The old truck is in good shape for sitting for all them years as far as the tank I would go from the top take the bottom straps off and it should go in
Take care of yourself buddy 👍
Nice! Good idea to change Tank and the other parts. POR -15 would be good for the frame etc. With bed off good time to rust proof the hard to get to places.
I'll bet dollars to donuts that it's the original 5.0 in there. Can't believe how those paint cans were stuck to that bedliner!! Dang, $6500 was a pretty penny for a 144,000 mile truck, although that is a pretty loaded short bed. I was kinda surprised you pulled the tank up out of the frame. It looks like you could remove the tailpipes off of the mufflers with some patience and persistence. I replaced the midship tank in my '77 F150, from underneath. I've never had the bed off, but I did do a cab swap.
That truck is nice.
i took out both tanks of my '80 f350 from below...new tanks, sending units, filler necks, straps and pads. took some wrangling, but they finally seated. you'll need to change out those straps...looking pretty rusted. also, get a couple fuel filters cause the same nasty fuel that was in the tank is also in the lines...you'll want to run fuel through them for a bit and then change out the filter. the brother is hilarious...can NOT be bothered with no youtube foolishness lol
I like the old trucks more than the mach 1 , i whould Love to have such project
Love it. Laughed so hard when you were trying to get those paint cans off the bed lol

Those suckers were STUCK! lol
I like the truck 👍. Not sure if I would paint it because it adds character. Hope you get it going soon.
Cool but that mustang tho
i love that body style
Take the bolts at the front of those straps loose, take the back bolts out then the straps will hang down. Then you can slip the tank up in place sit a jack under just to hold it till bolts are back in place. You had to have prayed the old one out ,cause the don't come out the top.I used to rebuild wrecked trucks were I used to work so yea I have built thousands of Ford trucks,it's funny cause I'm a die hard Chevy man.
That F150 actually looks like a fun project. I hope your labrum heals quickly.
I'm working on a 95 ODS Flareside on my channel, I like these trucks
Yall got to get that garage 100%...hope you guys are able to do it soon. love these videos though.
Just a suggestion. Run Rotella 10W30 or 5W40 in the old girl. They still contain enough ZDDP to protect the flat tappet lifters in it. I’m fairly certain that the 5.0L used in Mustang applications had roller cams but truck 5.0L used flat tappet cams. It’s been a long time since I worked for Ford but I think I am correct.
Sorry hear about your grandpa and your dad i had a 94 Ford F-150 red and 2door
Like a damn little pixie garden in the back of that truck hahahahaha
Little by little it will be fixed 💯✨💫👍
That's a sweet pickup, keep the patina, that truck will be easy to get running!!!

I like to look of that too it gives the truck more character
That engine at least looks exactly right for the year. Whether or not it was replaced I can't say. By the way you might check out Deboss Garage and Junkyard Digs channels - on the most recent Junkyard Digs vid he talks about a contest they are putting together for people recording revival projects. Giving away prizes. As long as you are recording for this channel maybe it would be fun to join that contest too. And Kevin - the JYD channel owner - may even have ideas and suggestions if you hit any snags on the truck. Another Ford truck owner I've been watching is Thecraig909.
I replaced the same gas tank an pump an sensing unit and the fuel filler neck from the bottom by undoing the srap bolts closest to rear bump an only loosening the front two for more wiggle room before winter of 2020 on my 95 f150 el without removing the bed
the bed if off perfect time to clean up does rails lol
Sweet truck! Won’t take much time and money to get it back on the road!
HELLO I HAVE A 1993 F150 STRAIGHT IN LINE 6 CYLINDER THAT I ABANDONED AND WATCHING YOUR VIDEO IS MAKING ME WANT TO START WORKING ON IT
Goes in from under truck. There's no need to remove bed. You need to get brake parts, calipers , rear wheel cylinders and hoses 2 front's 1 rear and a master cylinder. I guarantee that it's a Ford that set for a spell

Thanks for the info! I'd like to get it road worthy pretty quickly. We thought removing the bed was gonna be quicker than dealing with the exhaust blocking the way, but I'm starting to think we did a lot of extra work.

These trucks are made to last
Great to see you mixing up the content, bro.
Since u guys took the bed off good time to clean up the frame and paint it
I like it. I wouldn’t repaint it, no need to waste money on making it look like all the others. You can’t buy a cool looking patina. On the rust spots and maybe some where the paint is gone, use a 0000 steel wool or a really fine sand paper and maybe buff it, then wax or clear coat it. Dropping a tank is usually more difficult when full of fuel, but with the new tank being empty, if you need to put it in from beneath, no worries. Check the straps for holes and rust, clean them up and maybe throw some good paint on them to keep them from rusting further if they are ok. You might need to swap out some bolts if they are too far gone. Get some grade 8s to replace them if you have to. I doubt I’d do stainless unless they are equally priced.
I brought 1 of these from a farmer same year and color it set for 12 years just replace all rubber parts even rear transmission seals mine were all dry rotted
Hey, On my 1988 F150 when I replaced the gas tank, which is the same as the you and your brother are installing. I installed it from the bottom, I had unhooked the exhaust from the back hangers, spraying some WD40 on the rubber hanger help me get it lose. Once the exhaust was lowered I was able to slide it in place.
@MyLife31

I'm thinking that moving the exhaust is definitely the way to go.
That bad is not terrible shape that truck is mint the fenders cab corners wheel wells all of it usually rots out
Just for future reference you could have got your parts from Rock Auto for half of what you spent. If you don't mind waiting on shipping.
