Ford F-150 Bed off Restoration (ON A BUDGET)

Hey Thrifters! In this video I strip down my old Truck and Restore what I can on a Budget. I recommend that if anyone has an older truck like this to just take a look under your bed and you will be amazed on how much you can accomplish with the bed off!
As always you can follow me on Facebook and Snapchat!

Snapchat - TruckinClint
You can also check out my ebay store where I get my funding for all my projects!

Websites I used to order my budget parts:

Summit racing has a deal that offers free shipping over $100, which is really awesome when ordering big bulky, heavy parts.
I look forward to do more videos like this as I transition from Storage units to other hobbies I like to do.
My last videos I have been publishing were not the greatest quality and seeing that I spent a ton of time getting this video together and on youtube for you all! I appreciate all the support from my viewers, I really do enjoy making videos and publishing them for everyone to see.

Those cab corners are way easier than you might think. I live in the midwest, so I'm no stranger to rust. Loctite makes a gap filler foam that does not bow, and is closed cell so it's waterPROOF, unlike other filler foams. It's called "tite foam" because it is very rigid once cured. Cut out the cancer, spray WD40 onto any remaining surface rust. *Try to keep as much of the original material as possible. As long as the rust has been treated thoroughly, it will actually help you keep the desired shape. Let it sit for a day or two, then spray the WD out with brake cleaner or carb cleaner. You don't want any oil to remain in there. Back the section with HVAC tape or another strong adhering tape. It only has to last a few hours. Fill section with the foam, let cure. It will look really ugly. Once cured, shave the foam to the rough shape of the rocker corner, about an inch behind the actual surface of the truck. Blow out dust with air. Bondo/sand to shape. Prime, paint. Make sure that any of this material that is exposed to the elements has been thoroughly primed and painted. On my 97 Blazer, I did this all along the bottom of the doors on both sides, and painted the whole truck with Rustoleum black (it had mismatched panels all over, so this was a way to keep my 600$ truck looking good, and under $1000. Holds up to the elements just fine, working on 2 years. I've done this to numerous trucks I've kept or sold (to friends that knew I did this) and never, not once in several years has the patch failed, nor has anyone not in the know noticed. Sure, if you lift the truck up, you'll see a slight chunk there from underneath, but if you did it right, it'll save you a butt load of money and welding.

@@ChaseThrifts Notice that now there is a new type brake line made of Copper and Nickel (NiCOPP) that never rusts and is easier to bend with your bare hands. NiCOPP is DOT approved for brake lines and is only slightly lower in PSI burst rating than stainless steel.

I had a beautiful red 96 with a 5.0. Paid $1000 for it, towed to my place. It had a bad fuel pump. Tinted windows, Texas truck with zero rust. I pulled the bed with a winch and an old swing set frame. Stripped the frame and hit it with Rustoleum professional series roll on bed liner; hit the bed with it at the same time ($100). Changed both pumps while the bed was off ($200). Found out the oil pump was out ($100), so before lifting the engine, I removed and painted valve covers with Ford Blue ceramic paint ($10), painted intake manifold with Gray ceramic paint ($10), highlighted the letters by sanding off the high points. Changed oil pump, gaskets and reassembled. 2 weeks later, I sold that beautiful bitch for $4500. It looked better than new. $1000+100+200+100+20=1420 Odds and ends probably made it a smooth $1500. $3000 in about a month to work very part time on something to be very proud of. These trucks clean up so nice for not much at all.
