Parallel Battery Harness vs Parallel Switch: which one is better?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Is it better to connect two batteries using a parallel wire harness which is the direct method or a parallel switch which only allows one battery to be used at any point in time?
There is no right answer but one way is more efficient than the other. Using a parallel switch ensures that you are able to fully utilise the full power of your battery every time.

Could you use a 16s and 17s battery? I would think when fully charged the 17s would discharge on its own until it reaches the voltage of the 16s. Then both together. Am i correct? Great video!

Can that switch handle regenerative breaking. There are a lot of these on the market but they all have the same thing in common, they don't support regen. Just wondering because you didn't mention it in the video. Thank you!

@@FalconpevSg Thank you very much, I wasn't game to buy a bigger battery just yet, Just bought basicly the same size and amp battery to have as the external, If that doesnt do much i will get a little bigger amp battery next time. Let you know how it goes when it all turns up. Its just a ZiaomiM365

Hi I’m a bit confused. I have a Nami Klima and I want to be able to be able to have two batteries connected/plugged together but I don’t want them to be drawing current from both I just want a switch that can swap the battery that is discharging and powering the scooter. Do you sell something that does that or just something that waits for the match voltage and then discharges from both together. Thank you

You will need the parallel cable like in the video. Then just plugged the parallel cable into the controllers and to each battery and you are good to go. Just make certain to fully charge both batteries before taking your bike out for a ride.

This video is deceptive and inaccurate. Where to start... The small battery can't output the same amps as big battery, speed reduction and harder on equipment. If both batteries were plugged in together and charged to same voltage, the parallel system would produce a higher top speed/acceleration due to combined amp output and would hold higher voltage longer vs switch. Parallel batteries of different voltage should not be connected together otherwise you increase risk and put bms under strain because the input charge of batteries is likely not suited to take that sort of amp, especially if the little one is underpowered vs the big. Parallel them once both batteries are at same voltage...the end... the increased amp and capacity will allow you greater distances and also preserve the batteries much longer.

Thank you for your detailed thoughts on this. You came out strong and we respect that. But it’s full of assumptions and a misunderstanding of the what we are trying to do. If one of those batteries has the right cells and BMS that can handle your motor power, one of those batteries is all that you need, you don’t need 2 or 10 of them. Secondly our whole point is that with the switch you do not need to always ensure your batteries are charged to the same voltage. It’s a hassle. Just plug into the switch and switch take care of it. That’s the whole point.

@Falcon Pev | Pab Pmd Escooter Ebike Shop Singapore sorry was using the scooter pictured in the picture for example which is a 2wd scooter and would typically take beyond the small batteries nominal output, motors and electronics should be matched to the ride as a setup that pulls more amps vs the bms is able to produce is a hazard in itself, imo. If the only convenience of the switch is the ability to charge and use both batteries with different charges... the advantage is not that great vs the advantages provided by parallel*. (*unless used with a small 500w scooter which doesn't have much for power req and you just want easily modular add/remove range) Parallel =more amps and slower drain across the board and thus increased battery life and longevity. Charge once and match voltage... setup and forget. The Switch, a person could disconnect and connect as they please, without worrying about battery equalization... but parallel would give more speed/acceleration as you'd have the combined output amps of both battery which would hold you in higher voltage longer, with the inconvenience of matching voltages before using or leaving in place. The hassle of connecting together isn't that great for casual use and is none existant for anyone planning on plugging in and using both at the same time. But you should be able to agree on the fact parallel will make the batteries health last longer as it would be a slower drain across the board vs the switch. On final note...you could also reduce charge time with parallel as a fast charger like 4amp or 5amp would be much better suited to charging both batteries vs a fast charger doing one at a time via switch... using a fast charger sparingly is recommended for single 52v 20ah battery, but could be used more frequently in a setup with a 52v 20ah and 52v 10ah second battery in parallel due to the increased charge rate capacity of parallel.
