    @@kiiingrook8592you're missing out on electronic theory. Say 1battery is 40amp with BMS max discharge/peak of 80 and another that's 35 amp and 75peak. Combining in parallel you are assuming that functions same as within the pack or in combination with modules, wrong. The BMS for each limits are for each individual battery respectively so combining in parallel your now 75amp continuous and 150 peak is far beyond the capabilities of the BMS to control. Now the same controller will ask for the same amps of your original battery, say the 40amps so you're just increasing range and time but when you think your amp increase from both batteries in parallel means you can upgrade your controller for 150peak...You've made a 🔥🚒. Please do not do this 🙏,

    @@JB360_NYC Thanks, I do have an additional question and hoping you might have some insight. I manage to run the parallel setup with a UPP triangle battery and AR stock battery. Although, I was wondering if you keep both batteries "powered on" at all times even when you are not using the bike. Normally when I was using a blender, the triangle battery has a "power switch/button" on the battery itself that I would turn off the battery when not using the bike. Can I turn the power off when running the parallel setup or would this mess up the voltage balance between the two batteries? Any insight on this would be appreciated, so far everything is working. Hope this made sense lol...

    If you are charging both batteries simultaneously with one charger, that means that one battery is charged through its discharge port. Maybe I'm mistaken but I believe that charging through the discharge port bypasses the BMS, which could lead to overcharging and other issuess. The battery that is charged via the charging port will be protected. But the second battery won't.

  • @JB360_NYC

    Not necessarily because once your packs are paralleled they act as one system. The packs itself won't allow overcharging anyways due to the limitations both BMSs have in place.

    does using a battery blender thing have any advantage over just doing a setup like this? i understand the battery blender prevents energy flow from one battery to another, but does this actually help in safety in any way? also how would you recommend i go about connecting 3 batteries in parallel?

  • @JB360_NYC

    @JB360_NYC

    One advantage would be that you don't have to match voltages like here so it's mainly just plug and play with no volt meter required. Just note the blender does hinder the top speed a bit especially with 72V batteries. Sal and I tested parallel connection vs a 90a blender and difference was about 7 mph. If you're planning to do a 3 parallel connection, you would just need a custom harness with 3 discharge cables instead of two and just follow the same steps with all 3 batteries.

    You are correct! The battery blender will suffice if you're linking 52V to 52V or 48V without worrying about levels but once you get to the higher voltages like 72V, we've found the higher rated battery blenders almost hinder some of the torque and acceleration. Parallel connections provide a more direct connection resulting in better battery performance while the two batteries are linked.

    Basically if the voltages were too far apart and you connected them they would basically cause a spark from the parallel connector and possibly damage one or both of the batteries. Also a possiblity you'll lose voltage quicker next time you use one of the batteries. Last thing you want is a dead cell in one of the packs. That's why it's super important to get the voltage close under a volt.

    What about when it's time to recharge do you have to do this process where the battery have to have same voltage before you connect them Again? Do you charge the batteries independently? If not is it only charging via One battery charge port and not messing up balance charge on the second battery?

    Once the batteries are linked and paralleled you don't need to repeat the process as you can now charge from either battery port which will charge both batteries at the same time. The awesome thing is too is if you have another extra charger, you can insert the extra charger into the second battery port and essentially speed up your charge time by half.

    @@JB360_NYC thank you. What about running two controllers off this parallel battery connection?

    @@jbar3337 yes with two controllers, you would just need another y splitter cable so both controllers controllers can link to the batteries. Essentially the y cable connectwd to your batteries will connect to the y cable for your controllers.

    how? did you connect then in series doubling the voltage?

    please, I think you agree with me that nothing is better on the market than Dx2 Dx2c, etc blenders, with them you can mix juice and voltage. I've got 48V 17,5aH and 52V 20aH running so good no fuss no issues.

    For sure, I think for a lot of riders it takes the hassle out of matching voltages with a voltmeter. For higher output applications, paralleling guarantees you get the most out of both packs.
