That's the sign of a healthy budgie. Budgies will only sit still and be quiet when awake if they are sick, depressed, too cold or stuck alone in a tiny cage with no toys or enrichment.

I was seriously considering a budgie as a pet until I heard ALL these noises lol. They’re still ABSOLUTELY adorable but I have two babies, 5 turtles, 19 fish, and two chickens. My noise limit has reached max capacity 💀

i can’t believe this was a year ago, my little man is 2 now

My budgie lost his cage mate a few months ago, they’d never been separated so I’d never heard the “call” chirp before but that’s all he did for the week after his buddy passed and it was heartbreaking hearing him call for him. He’s doing much better now, just as loud only this time with happy chirps and squawks. Amazing how one budgie alone can still sound like a pet store

Every time my parakeet loses his mate (my one Parakeet born in 2017 is a widower times 3 now) I have to immediately get a replacement because I can’t stand the calling he does - the frantic calling for his friend 😩😫 I’m like hang on little buddy I’ll get you a new friend or baby bird to focus on😭😭 🏃‍♀️ 💨

So, my budgie is happy, but doesn’t like me yet. Ok.

My Budgies call me when they want their food re-upped , and clean water. So funny , they both will hang on the front of the cage and call and call. Gosh I love ❤️ them so much !

My blue budgie just sits and squawks for no reason. He has everything he needs, has my grey budgie as a companion and is usually fluffed up. He does this EVERY morning at the same time. Drives me nuts.

This really cured my depression

The most satisfying thing as a bird breeder is walking into your aviary and hearing all the happiness noises 😍💖💝 or feeding some chicks and hearing the contented lil sounds as they settle in to sleep 🤗

Ok so while im watching tv and I pause it my budgie starts mimicking the conversation and its adorable and sometimes I talk to him and he repeats and again...its *adorable*

My parakeet named pistachio died 4 dags ago... they said he was either sick or dehydrated. We only had him for a few months since my mom found him flying by her job. Even though we had him for a short amount of time, I know he was a very happy bird and I miss him everyday. I am just glad he is in a better place, flying till his heart's content!

The sound that means “alert” is such a cute and calming sound. He also looks cute and calm doing it. Hard to believe it means “alert.”

3:10 My favorite part

I only have one at this time and when it comes to the "calling" part, my budgie almost instantly responded to the call. Even faster than a split second. She's usually timid but I never knew she can tweet that loud.

we have a family budgie but he’s mostly mine since he lived in my room for 2 years, i feed him & trained him. he doesn’t bite and is never angry or mean. but he’s very quiet when i’m not home, and when i walk in the door or he hears my voice he starts making that happy squaking noise. then when i’m in the kitchen across from him he talks quietly and makes those little happy chirping noises. i dont know just think it’s cute hehee

Im hell scared of birds coz they bit me once when I was a child.last year I brought home my grandma's budgies coz she couldn't take good care of them due age related health issues. A lovely video! I love budgies. My best friend is a green budgie called Christmas Pudding. He makes me happy when he puts his wings out to me and runs up to the end of the perch to see me. He, too, enjoyed the video.

I was able to figure out almost all of them, but I wasn’t sure about the loud squeaking sound. I looked up almost all videos regarding budgies sound and their meaning, but nothing covers it, until I found this video. Thank you. I wasn’t sure why my budgie would squeak so loud all of sudden and would go on for good 10 minutes. But now I know why, I can prevent that in the future, thanks to your video!
