Speaking of character variety, I can give Illumination’s Mario movie credit for trying at character distinction with the Koopa Troopa leaders compared to Sticker Star.

If you look at some of the Koopas in each shot they are in, some are either, short, tall or chunky. Which is kinda paper Mario styled.

What Sticker Star did this series for the previous decade was completely unacceptable! Thank goodness The Thousand Year Door is finally getting its remake.

Nothing is more entertaining than watching Platy’s sanity be killed by paper.

oh, you forgot to mention: JUST before the Bowser fight, you have to fight Kamek again, who turns ALL of you stickers into "flip-flops" AND splits into 3, so unless you get the "slot machine" perfect AND hit all the "flip-flops" timing perfectly, you will waste WHOLE BUNCH of stickers, possibly your BEST ones because YOU CAN'T TELL WHICH IS WHICH! also, there are no enemies in between those two fight, just a BUNCH of big empty rooms that waste your time!

47:28 Well it looks like Paper Mario is going to be Thousand-Year Door again (at least, for now). Here's hoping the remake that was just announced at today's Nintendo Direct is good as well. Who's here after that "last announcement"?

Having played the first two Paper Marios when they came out, I used to attribute Sticker's issues to its being a handheld game. So many casual/shallow games came out on the 3DS. But the more I think about it, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were re-released on 3DS. So the system could've easily had a game on the same level as the original Paper Mario.

Great video! First I've seen of your channel and it was a great first impression. Thank you for putting the music tracks at the end, I love it when creators do that!

The only cultural impact this game left was when somebody made a comment on the final boss music saying it was the best Paper Mario final boss music and it caused a huge argument that Critikal made a video about.

That opinion should be a crime. Shadow Queen phase 2 (TTYD) and The Ultimate Show (SPM) are gigabangers.

Kristi is such a big step down from Tippi from Super Paper Mario in every way.

You’re misinterpreting it. In reality, Nintendo banked on Mario and Luigi being Mario’s only RPG series from the 2010s going forward, only for AlphaDream to go bankrupt, laying that series dormant.

What is the song that plays at chapter 5

I ran out of hammer stickers on the final phase of the final boss. I was going to use the pity stickers it gives you when you run out, but I was forced to use the door sticker and it made me run away instead. Probably the worst boss I've ever had the displeasure of fighting. I'm glad he had his own chapter here.

Damn... I've never played Paper Mario: Sticker Star, but after hearing just how bad it is from reviews (including this one) and Platys slowly losing his sanity just talking about it, I certainly won't be touching this game with a ten ft pole.

Colour splash was my first too. I absolutely loved it.. but then I found TTYD, I was hooked and played it probably 3+ times lmao.

2:02 Is that why in TTYD that one toad in Petalberg references him playing Fire Emblem on the gba?

The invisible block in 5-1? This game has block coding depending on the flowers nearby. NOTHING TELLS YOU OF COURSE, but a blue flower almost always indicates an invisible block

As someone whos currently going to 100% every single paper mario game, i can say right now that after I 100% Super Paper Mario, i would have to deal with this trainwreck of a video game.

The fury this game brings me stays with me to this day. Yeah, there's other games and stuff that have done damage to my favorite media... but sometimes I can find some redeemable or even fun factors. The more I revisit Sticker Star, the more I hate almost everything about it. I pray one day the "Modern Paper Mario formula" crashes and burns with zero regret lol.

If you’re not willing to emulate 64 (not that I blame you, N64 emulation… could be better), it’s on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass. TTYD is also getting a remake on the Switch sometime next year.

@@TheGreatPM1 Super can be frustrating at times, but it’s still well worth your time. Assuming second hand copies of the Wii game haven’t gotten too expensive, you can probably emulate it on Dolphin. AVOID STICKER STAR AND COLOR SPLASH AT ALL COSTS.

@@TheGreatPM1 I don’t have a video on Color Splash, and I don’t plan to make one. I’m pretty sure Mario Party Legacy (my main source of footage for this video) has a full walkthrough of Color Splash you can watch.

Fuck that, I’m never playing this game, doesn’t seem worth my time, I think I’ll play one of the other ones, also you had your 15th birthday in 2019, so like Cartoonshi and Just Stop, it’s interesting to see a KZreadr a little younger than me

I remember being so stuck on this game when I was a kid, I legit had to look up so many guides for all the bs throughout the game, I was like 9 or something and I even knew this game was super tedious. Even then I still can’t say didn’t have fun lol, I really should replay it soon despite how awful this game is designed

gave up once i got to the forest section and fumbled around looking for a way to progress somehow glad i never got to experience more of the BS pulled by this game

Honestly even with this video I still think the original Mario movie is the worst piece of Mario media as at least this game 1. Felt like Mario and understood at least an ounce of what Mario is and 2. Didn’t nearly kill anyone(Bob Hoskins nearly died several times during the movies filming)

Don’t know haven’t played. I sold this game to GameStop because it is sooo bland compared to the original trilogy. However, the new release of TTYD on the switch has me on a more hopeful note!
