did you know gaming: you can fight the bosses in any order, due to the lack of story other than "bowsr break star, go fix star" you can literally just use the thing you get before fighting a boss to do the next world

As my first paper mario game, sticker star sticked with me, and I really can't hate it. I played the og paper mario and sincerely loved it, but I normally don't really pay any attention to the mechanics of the game but more so the music and story. Story wise, sticker star was kind of meh, but the visuals and overall gameplay made up for that. Paper mario on the other hand has good in a lot of its factors, good story too. Sadly I am kind of disappointed that both games do the whole reset thing where you never really finish the game.

I think they just looked at the sales (it sold pretty well but I think because it was on the 3DS and it fooled a bunch of people) and said gawrsh guess thats what they want from now on. Color Splash ended up selling like poop but that kind of had the excuse of being on a dead console

@noctilum4 I have played it and it's horrible. A Paper Mario game needs to be like TTYD for Paper Mario to be good again.

We just need an indie game developer to take Sticker Star’s game play mechanics and expand upon it into something really unique.

M and L paper jam was the first time I hyped for a game and subsequently disappointed by it. All because Nintendo put a leash on Alphadream and prevent them from doing anything cool like in Inside Story or Dream Team.

You know, when Kersti was giving that heartfelt message at the end of the game, I was thinking buh-BYE, you ungrateful royal wannabe!

Rewatching the og paper Mario and comparing it to SS is like seeing an delicious cake and then someone decide to step on it, say Paper, and leave without apologizing & saying nothing else

This was my first Paper Mario game I ever played, I was just excited to finally play a Paper Mario game as a kid, having watched let's plays of the first 2 games on KZread. I enjoyed it then. As I've gotten older and played the older games, I've grown to hate Sticker Star more and more. I played Sticker Star for about an hour earlier today. And it made me feel actually sad.

I will never regret playing this game on my 3DS all night long.

It's the opposite for me, my first was Super Paper Mario, then Sticker Star. Already knowing Super was a very different game though I didn't really have any expectations playing Sticker, I thought it was ok for what it was at least. ...Until I played the original Paper Mario on the WiiU's virtual console and that very much put everything into perspective. I'd finally understood why everyone hated Sticker Star so much, the original genuinely felt like an adventure, with characters I still remember even about 6 years later or more. I've only played through the original once, and played through Sticker Star twice, the second time being somewhat recent and still barely remember half of it. It's like a fever dream with stickers.

Sticker Star is also my first Paper Mario game and the only paper Mario I played. What I hated in paper Mario is the sticker mechanic and no level up system except for finding the extra life points. so every attacks you do consumes sticker and there are times you had to reset the game because you used up your stickers on a boss battle.

My first Paper Mario was Super Paper Mario on the Wii. Sad that we will never see anything quite like it again

How you didn't understand leveling up, tons of kids everywhere knew what leveling up was due to Pokemon. All we had to know was you get stronger upon leveling up.

Thousand year door was my first game and was really hoping this game was gonna be like that, but I was so disappointed

Paper Mario sticker Star was also my first paper mario game. In fact. It was the first i putted on my 3ds the moment i got it I have some kinda nostalgia to it- even tho the game sucks

Funny thing is, I had a simular experince with SS. I did enjoy my first playthrough except for the 6 times I had to look up a guide because of getting hopelessly stuck on stupid thing "puzzles" or world 3 in general. And then I thought about my experience afterward and realised that SS is a dumpster fire in video game form.

Somebody who made a video defending this game said he beat it when he was 12 and said he didn't use or need a guide to beat it. I call BS on that, I was grown when I was playing and I was stuck on the Cheep Cheep and again on chapter 3 and the poison Blooper fight cause I forgot about using things to beat bosses so I said screw it and looked up a guide even after giving my sister crap for looking up a guide when she played it before me so now I realized it was bad game design and not our fault for looking it up. I also didn't expect for these hidden collectibles to be required for progression and never thought the game wanted me to revisit levels so much for Things to progress.

normal hammer excelent is 12 and 8 hurl is the same damage the side hit one 16, 13 great burn and chill 20, 16 for great eekhammer 15

@SG No. It's just a bad game. Unlike Super Paper Mario, a game that WASN'T PM64 3, but is still beloved because of a functional battle system, a cast of original and likeable characters, and a phenomenal story. It's almost like "NoT TTYD 2" ISN'T the issue older fans have with modern PM and is just a strawman for you people made up so you can attack older fans and the older games.

Sticker Star is overhated. Its fine but insulting compared to the previous 3 entries. It has plenty of problems but it have some pros too. It is just kind of forgettable by itself and massively weak compared to its 3 predecessors

8:00 You just described how adventure games work tho, I don't know why everything needs to be obvious, I can agree with many criticisms of this game but not that one, people need to stop reviewing this game as an RPG and review it as an adventure game like Sam & Max, Monkey Island and Grim Fandango Games that will make you walk around in circles trying to find items and solve puzzles to progress, I can't blame this game for not being obvious and being realy cryptic about thing when that's the main thing adventure games do

@@st4r.s112 Fine, I will give it the one star. Some of the tunes are catchy, and some of the "Thing" stickers got a chuckle out of me. But the trial and error of them and the grindiness of boss weaknesses and puzzles through them made for a slog. I don't like to refer to objectives usually while reviewing a product, but this game treads the line. I'd approach deeming it an objective failure and the downfall of the series.

@@st4r.s112 If they were set on no level ups too, shoulda made a stickerbook sorta like the chip folder in Mega Man Battle Network. That way fighting enemies would only add to it, and fighting them well could get you extra coins or shinier stickers that would be part of an un-temporary loadout. Rebalance accordingly.

@@st4r.s112 I liked Super a lot as well. And it's not even per-se uniqueness I take up issue with. Platformer styled gameplay with rpg influence came together better than the turn-based sticker system. Probably unfair to compare a console game to a handheld here, but it's the ideas Super had too that make it part of the original trilogy to me, rather than the odd buffering game for those who only liked the design of the first two.

Man, this game is pain. Like, I'd rather play Sonic 06 than this. At least that game tried to have a decent story

Guess I’m not apart of everyone. This was the fourth Paper Mario game I played, played it around the time it came out. I was 19. I still like this game, and find it very underrated/overhated. My least favorite in the series is Super Paper Mario, actually, and my favorite is a three-way tie between Thousand-Year Door, Color Splash, and Origami King.

I was about 13 when I got Sticker Star, I never heard of the paper mario series or played any of the previous titles, so Sticker star was kinda my introduction. I love doing arts and crafts so what initially drew me to the game was the art style and how it reminded me of dioramas and the craft projects I did growing up. I didn't really hate the game, sure it got difficult and tedious at certain points but I usually found a way to strategize and work through it. I remember finishing the game and thinking it was okay and I liked the little parade they did at the end credits. I did think Kersti was kinda pointless but I think I mostly ignored her throughout the game and focused on everyone else. DOn't get me wrong, the game has problems and I won't be playing ti again, but I don't feel any hatred towards it, just indifference.

Here’s my take on the paper Mario series’ preferred order of difficulty(from least to most), argue how you prefer… here’s the order; Sticker Star(at least it’s a good intro game, despite it’s hate), Color Splash, Origami King, PM64, TTYD, and finally Super Paper Mario as the unofficial hardest game of the 6 in the series!!! . . . Again, argue how you wish. I myself genuinely don’t care that sticker star is the globe’s least favorite because I can at least say that it makes for a good first game(even though it’s not the first in the series, but at least I can survive this better than 1-1 of the nes of what is now our beloved 3 dimensional Mario. Yeah I know what I said and yes it’s hard to admit, but just keep hating since it’ll only fuel my positive aura)!

Superstar saga was great, partners in time was good, bowser’s inside story was amazing and the two other Mario and Luigi games were meh. Paper Mario 64 was great, super paper Mario was good, thousand year door was amazing and the other paper Mario games were meh. The only problem in this analogy is sticker star. I bought this game on release day back in 2012. Played about 12 hours of it, put it down and never touched it again. I still have the same save file stored over 10 years later untouched. This game killed my love for the Paper Mario series

i played this game growing up and masked over 100 hours in it alone. And i can confirm its boring as hell. and looking back the game sucks so much. but i refuse to hate it because nostalgia and nowdays i see thru its flaws

This game could’ve been better if the developers of this stupid game didn’t listen to Grumpimoto whining and complaining about that Paper Mario shouldn’t have partners, we could’ve had a freaking Chainchomp a freaking Chainchomp partner!!!!! It still VERY much refuses to ditch the Sticker Star crap and actually have a GOOD battle system with REAL reason to do battle and a GOOD story with GOOD, ORIGINAL characters instead of copypaste generic Mario enemies and Toads and LITERAL arts and crafts objects. SS is garbage in a can, CS is opening the lid, and OK is tipping the can over, which doesn't matter since PM refuses to crawl out of the trash, clean itself up, and get itself together.

To me this game when I was a kid I think this game was cool but the more i kept playing it it got progressly worse for me its a tedious mess it tries so hard to be something unique the game tries but it failed horribly Sticker star have some charming moments like snifit or wifit that's my favorite part of the game the music is solid for what it does but the gameplay the lack of story and the tedious puzzle killed my enjoyment of this game I can't consider it the worst game ever made because it far from it but it is the worst paper mario game in the entire series and i noticed the combat screams rushed development this game is just disappointing do I hate it not really but do I like it hell no not by a long shot this is a game that is so polarizing it caused a huge issue with paper mario and the community it's just heartbreaking To me this game is just disappointing but I don't hate it but it's just sad for me

From what I've seen, no one (myself included) has a problem with the music or visuals. Just the gameplay and "story."

I do not. I think that it isnt that bad,even tho I like rpgs more

Honestly, I like this game. I like modern paper mario games. Origami King is my favorite paper mario game, and one of my favorite games of all time. I enjoy the older paper mario games too, especially Super.

I like this game, It's my childhood and everyone may hate it but i like it
