It’s my opinion that any jerseys worn in a significant match are going into private collections vs being cut up for cards otherwise they would indicate the date, the reason they don’t is likely do to them being bottom of the barrel so to speak

I agree with you but because it doesn't make them any more money, they won't care. Transparency should matter also. Much like Fanatics, everything counts in large amounts to quote Depeche Mode. There should also be mandatory print runs from card manufacturers. It's a monopoly.

Something that almost brings your idea together is…. The card will say game or match worn/used…. And it will also state that it’s ’guaranteed by Panini’. Wouldn’t take much more to retroactively release the information for those older sets. Otherwise, it’s not a ‘guarantee’, it’s a ‘trust us’, and those are two different things. Also, as mentioned by another below, the MLB Authentication on select product (Topps Tribute - Stamp of Approval) shows that active dynamic authentication IS doable. So even if you use multiple jerseys across a specific card (like… 2 jerseys on a player’s card for one set with a 199 print run), you can still isolate THAT swatch to THAT game.

I'm a huge fan of Panini Obsidian & Immaculate and Topps Museum Collection. It's been a long time now since I've opened a box of any of those due to the insulting patches that they put in the cards. I was never happy about "player worn" but when they began putting in the "non-associated" pieces of s--t. For the box price to remain the same or even go up BUT introducing those worthless patches is really insulting to buyers & collectors. Those type sets should have nothing less than game worn jerseys included in the release. 🤨⚽

I like the idea, but unless it will make them more coin these companies are unlikely to do it voluntarily. What would be ideal is if the major sporting codes put something in their respective licences that mandated some sort of minimum standards for memorabilia cards

One of my favorite products is Topps Tribute. I buy singles from that product all the time because they have MLB authenticated gear in those cards. They sell criminally low - like $8 for a Yordan Alvarez patch card from a jersey he wore in 2022 when Houston won the World Series. Being able to look up the sticker on MLB and see what games it was worn in is unreal to me.

They should do that but they won't. Fanatics does it with their Topps Now relic cards. It's a cool feature. Panini should sell Donruss to Fanatics so we can have both Topps and Donruss to rip like the old days.

Great idea I've often wondered why they all don't do this with supposedly game used memorabilia cards. It would add so much value as well. Imagine how cool it would be to see what game a bat relic came from or a jersey or cleat card. I have tons of jersey cards and bat cards and would love to know what game it was from. Topps has very few you can track the game. They have a sticker on them you can scan or something and it tells you the game info.

I actually prefer photoshoot jerseys as it’s assumed it’s the one in the photo featured on the card.. which is to say at least the narrative is real, however I also heard players can just wear a bunch of jerseys at those photoshoots to effectively creating a larger pool of material to expand the production runs ..

So long as the sports leagues keep allowing one company to have a monopoly on sports cards, collectors are pretty much screwed! Those who think a Fanatics monopoly will be better than a Panini monopoly are simply fooling themselves!

To my knowledge any game worn jersey that gets sold is noted to what game it came from etc... to implement wouldn't take overly much more work.... Just a commitment that they need to realise is what collectors want. I know of some Basketball PC player collectors who are not interested in memorabilia cards that are not associated with anything...

It SHOULD make them money. You'd think that specific game worm jerseys would command a higher rate and increase demand, but it doesn't actually seem like it does. My desire for non game worn patches is zero, cause it almost seems like it's a lie. Might as well just have non player signed autos.

It's completely OVER for Panini once their licenses FINALLY run out. Think about it. They allowed their soccer license to be lost in Europe, despite having originated there with soccer stickers! They pocketed all the money that they made with 10+ years of exclusivity and didn't even have enough left to save soccer. They've been beaten into submission.

I understood what you want, my point is it's not feasible. It's a small piece of cardboard, thick to accommodate the relic if any You can't expect a story attached to it. Maybe settle for a code that directs you to a story and maybe a short clip of the event. But again, this product is MASS produced for the general population. You want specialized product.

@@napost6191 um it is and has been done just not on mass scale which is better. And no you didnt get what i said at all, the "story" does not come from the card producer but life. give you one more example. i am a chelsea fan, lets take lampard and his 1st chelsea card. that card to me as a fan has a "story" behind it. No video link needed lol my memory is enough. As for patches look at futera, not every product needs to be massed produced but hey if you like massed produced products go right ahead.
