Another big nothing here from Target. Multi billion dollar company in Target and they still can not combat the bots online. The random half a case or full case of retail product on a shelf is not in play here, pre covid and during covid, a lot learned quick how to get retail. That is bots/online. Real deal is online, no one is worried about a guy grabbing 10 to 15 boxes off a shelf. People need to understand the bigger and REAL issue here. They aren't placing 4 cases of each release on a shelf. Also in those small batches that you may snag 15 or even 20 boxes for conversation sake, the margins are razor thin when resellers post these days simply because of the increase from Panini and Topps. Go ahead and pin this one Dan, would be nice to ask some experts on the bot subject. This is more of a save face or a requirement by distribution companies getting pressure from the brand manufacturers.

I am a small collector, and agree for the most part but at the same time I have been looking for select basketball, and have been to countless Walmarts and targets typically when I get off of work, just to see if there’s any product and have never been able to find a single box. This might be a compounded issue because of the online scalping, but there is no doubt the product is being scalped to no end in stores as well and it is infuriating feeling like you have to either pay 50% more for the same product or be etched out of the hobby just because you are a 9 to 5 worker with a family and don’t have a KZread channel

@@jamesgardner1825 Hi James, I personally only collect baseball. Post covid, I saw Topps and Panini increase prices so my thought has always been prices were not worth flipping on secondary market. Now I do know baseball is plentiful for all releases except 2023 Platinum Anniversary due to the amount released to date. Otherwise, you can easily order and find it all as of today. I know the Wemby craze does drive that price, and it did the same with Ball and his cards no one really cares about anymore. I have heard people try stores in more rural areas but getting some boxes was doable online for release day. I know some channels used to actually go live for Target release days and update the chat, drop links etc for you to be able to grab some. Maybe search here "Target Live Drop". During covid I had good luck with baseball. Hopefully that helps for future product.

All our local Walmart's & Targets have stopped carrying sports cards altogether. Walgreens are carrying re-pack product. Sad for the people that used to love picking up a couple of packs while shopping. Every local store carrying Poky cards

opening product is ridiculous these days imo if i had it my way nobody would buy any of these products and the companys over charging would be forced to liquidate it at a fraction of the price.

You want everyone excited about a certain product..not just yourself..This is how "all around value" is determined.

Using bots to clean out a product drop is no different

Happened to me last year with concert tickets. So annoying

We shop at Walmart once a week. I always check the caed section and the last months there is usually nobody in the card section.

its been going on for years.. they're not going to stop anytime soon!! they will continue to weigh packs etc.. no one can't stop them.. Stores like target is not going to police sports cards, its sad but that's just how it is..

Start buying vintage cards and leave this modern bullshite alone.

I respect vintage but I don't like it for some reason. I love modern but I also don't rip wax trying to flip or make money. I just collect and keep it all.

It doesn’t look like a professional sign. It looks like that printed off page is attached to a “For Sale” sign or similar sign.

Way I see this with regards to scalpers the only reason they are doing it, is because people are willing to pay the premium. Should they have to, no but it comes down to the simple fact if buyers weren't willing to pay the $$$ then scalpers wouldnt be reselling the product, only way it's going to stop is buyers acting with their wallets. The weighing side of things, if they aren't physically opening or damaging the product then a consumer is well within their right to inspect a product theyre going to buy. If they are opening boxes, cutting packs etc then that's a different story.

I can't ever walk into any Target Walmart Walgreens in my area and find a box or pack of cards. I go the day they are stocked and they are gone instantly! It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm a set builder and I need retail packs to help with that. I've seen guys grab shopping carts and just empty the shelves. I REALLY THOUGHT WITH THE PRICE OF BLASTERS NOW A DAYS THIS WOULD STOP. But I am wrong. I've seen signs to this nature in my area too.

I see comments like yours all the time. Why would anyone waste time, gas and energy going into Walmart or Target these days. Target is cheaper than Walmart. Target has free shipping. Target will allow you to register any credit or debit card and sign up for a Target "RED CARD" which is basically a rewards card attached to the account you create online. This also gives you 5% off every item purchased. That eliminates Walmart real quick. It also allows you coupons for future purchases over time. Hope that helps

Can't say anything about everywhere in the world but here in Toronto I've gone to Walmart on release dates to buy certain releases and they are already sold out even though I was waiting in line before the store opened. After talking to a few employees I was able to find out the manager running that department already had a deal lined up with small card shops where he would keep the big new releases for them while he got paid off in cash. Young guns hockey was nowhere to be found in any Walmarts in Ontario.

There's only 2 products you can't resell, tobacco and pharmaceutical. The whole store of Walmart and target is where resellers of all products go. Sams club is walmart and bulk is bought by small businesses. People need to be encouraged to stop buying retail and breaks and double prices on eBay. Almost everything in cards is run illegal and illegitimate. It really doesn't matter because retail prices are not for kids. It's people getting a non livable wage taking advantage of consumers stupidity. Weighing packs has been done for decades. Ebay they would call them hot packs. Now we get fake hit cards and retail sold by fat packs and blasters. Before it was a hobby box open and you would pick out packs. We also use to allow people to grab cigarettes without asking. Most of the card drama stems from a crappy economy, and it's going to get much worse really soon

If hot packs weigh different, that's on the manufacturers. Target can limit 5 packs per day per Circle member account. Each problem is highly fixable, with very little effort.

I saw this post on reddit, and I also questioned the legitimacy. That sign is most likely fake but I went to my local target today and they put a limit of 5 in stores hopefully its all stores and maybe most of all can get product now

Panini doesn't sell in other countries so for example me who lives in Asia i have to pay 20%-30% premium for a product not including shipping i need to find a source available to me which most of the time vendors buying from scalpers

Yep, same for me in Australia!

1. In the States Target will not put up a typed sign that makes the employees into a judge. They might limit to 1 or 2 items per transaction but they are more likely to put them behind glass if they keep weighing the packs. 2. Camera looks great, the blurry background is what you want, people pay more for that background effect by getting a higher end camera.

@DanTheCardMan2 Yes. Grip and Rip Sports Cards spoke to a Target Manager and he said they are all going through training regarding pack weighers and searchers. Many Target stores are putting security straps on card boxes not in view of a cash register.

I think that I actually liked the old camera better. That might be the first time that I've ever disagreed with you about anything that I can recall. If that's the worst thing that I have to say then I think you're still doing a great job, amigo. Keep up the good work. 😎

I can tell you first hand that this is not from target at all as we dont have this exact sign but different states an districts may be different (as in a store by store basis) but one things for sure i can tell you they do have the right to turn away a sale on a high value item if they feel anything shady is going on thats a fact 😉🎯
