Why only Karnataka, in fact all the classical listeners around the world are blessed to experience such a divine voice. For that matter, it was Maharashtra which patronage to the musician like him. Almost all the musicians from Karnataka were acknowledged by Maharashtrian audience first. Late Padma Bhushan Dr. Gangu bai Hangal told me once that Karnataka is not a place for a musician to be a successful musician. If any musician wants to make a career in music one must go to Mumbai or Pune.
