In one of his interviews Pandit Bhim sen joshi ji mentioned that Shankar and Jai kishan called him and said there is a situation of competition between two singers so you playback for one singer and other by Manna Day and create something that suits the situation. We don't know these level of classical music so you both workout something. Based on the commonly used line of "pilu...pilu.." for raag basant bahar shailendra wrote these lines.
