Thanks for stopping by for our preview of Pampero! We're Amy & Maggie aka ThinkerThemer. We're an Australian couple with two very different perspectives of what makes a great board game - Amy (Thinker) is all about the mechanics and enjoys tight, competitive games, and Maggie (Themer) is all about the storytelling and the theme of the game, and the 'world' that the designer is trying to create. Subscribe to our channel to hear us talk about these two elements of a game, and how well integrated we feel these are in delivering a cohesive and wonderful game experience.

Great video! Loved how you focused on the tensions rather than an exhaustive rules overview, I think that’s far more useful to potential backers :)

Ok the long dredded day has arrived for me....I have been binging on all thinker themer episodes from the first episode to the very last one for the past 8 months, that's when I returned to Australia after being stuck overseas for a few years. Two years worth of content done and dusted, I have no idea what I will watch now!! I would like to thank you for brightening my day every morning and every afternoon while on the train to/from the Brisbane CBD. You are a wonderful travel company and I enjoy your Aussie input into the hobby (particularly during back chat episodes - the postage to Australia is a crime!!). A huge thanks to you both.

I am sooooooo behind on videos, but I had to check this one out because I have been having a serious internal debate on whether to back the game. From your review, seems like it would fit my tastes well. Then I heard that once the two of you got the hang of it, you could get through the shorter version in an hour! Even better because time is a rare spare item for me these days. Also, I think the theme is fascinating.

Very excited for this game, as I love the theme! One of my favorite sights on the road between Sac and the Bay is the windfarms, they're kind of beautifully eery.

Okay so now I lost track of how many new videos you released this week 🤯 So I’m assuming this is going to be the same EACH WEEK ? ( me putting lot of pressure on your shoulders 😈) Anyway that game looks very interesting and I dig the minimalistic look of it, very nice review thanks for sharing your thoughts about it (:

At first I thought this was a wind version of Barrage but it seems a tad like that but I see a Brass Birmingham like system as well perhaps with bonuses that strike me as Lacertaish? Great description!

A game that Amy cannot beat Maggie at? That caught my attention! :) This looks to heavy for my personal taste. However, I can appreciate the strong theme. It looks like quite an accomplishment in thematic game design. Thanks for another helpful review.

Thanks for the very insightful review ! Since I saw this game a couple of months ago, I kept thinking of my brother who is an engineer and works on a windmill offshore project. How did your sister enjoy it ? And how would you compare it in terms of heaviness to Barrage (which my brother enjoys) ?

My sister prefers a little more direct interaction (like me!) but I think it does have a similar feel to Barrage in the way you build - it is what Maggie enjoys about them both. This is heavier to get into.

@@ThinkerThemer thanks a lot for the quick answer ! It did not help me though to make a decision 😅 my brother also tends to like more interaction, and I am a bit worried about how much this would be played if it is that heavy. On the other hand, I am so happy that you found thematically it was on point, that may leave any previous consideration less important. I will see how is the campaign and if some playthroughs come out. Thanks a lot 🌬

Thank you for another great video. Does the game feel very much like Lacerda games? Is there anything that makes Pampero feel different from Lacerda games? How was solo, if you tried it?

The hour 2-player playtime is tempting me to look at a game that is really way too complex for us! Love a short game option! This is easily more complex than Ark Nova?

If we have to compare Games of similar themes, what would be the best comparison w.r.t Pampero. Just for my understanding. Considering I am getting into playing heavy games, especially euro for the first time, want to make the right decision whether I back this or not.
