God I miss Paul. That unending F-bomb tirade had me laughing out loud! Great video.
When that pen rolled off the table when he was opening the box.... that made me want to lunge through my computer screen to grab it, I hate when that happens Lol

I really hope that pen was found before it was stepped on
Nice review, and I also appreciate the desire to NOT encourage buying every damn game. Well done, as always.
I come back to this every couple of months, as this to me really is the pinnacle of SUSD's reviews: funny, thoughtful, structured, and PRAUL. MISS YOU
Awesome bit at the end, Paul. I actually significantly downsized my game collection the last time I moved and it felt kinda great? I got rid of anything I knew my friends already had, or was a game that was too similar to a favorite and never got played, or was too complicated to play on a regular basis. Now I have this nice tidy collection of favorites that I know I could just grab at random, play with anyone, and have a good evening.
So if images in videos need to be royalty-free were you unable to add photos of any queen bees in the video?
9:18 SOMETHING IS IN YOUR HOUSE AND IT'S ON YOUR CHAIR IN THE TOP LEFT
Hysterical intro and a great review. Also greatly appreciated the bit on your recommendation process - especially with money so tight, being selective about purchases is key. I'm broke now after purchasing the (now-ancient) Rex and the fantastic Cockroach Poker on your recommendation, and I don't regret a cent of it, but it's good that the "SUSD recommends" badge is being applied carefully to help us get a good idea of what you all really feel is the cream of the crop even in this golden age of board games. Thanks a bunch.
You already had my thumbs up before the rant at the end. Wish I could give a second one rather than almost undoing my first. Well done.

Without a doubt this!
This was my favorite game of last year. Though, when I tell people how much I enjoy it, I do clarify to them that I'm one of those people that love organizing collections of books, movies, cards, etc. I feel my enjoyment of the game comes more from the fact it scratches that itch, rather than the actual gameplay. I agree this game isn't for all gamer types. ...If you are like me, who can compulsively and happily spend hours sorting hundreds of items, this game sates that urge very well.
Possibly the best intro ever? Thank God I had nothing in my mouth or I would have spit it out. Wonderful!
Another great video by you! Really enjoyed it...I rarely give thumbs up for videos...but that outro made me smile so much!
Really enjoyed this review. I feel like Paul is getting the oomph he's been lacking the past year and some back lately and I really like the bit explaining the recommendations. I feel like lately it's been getting confusing how to draw the line between "great but not necessary" and "so amazing we have to recommend!" and that's been a sad point for some people who loved games that weren't recommended. It really clarified the vision that SUSD is going for with these recommendations and that games that weren't recommended still are amazing games, just not necessarily appropriate for the vision that's being aimed for (although a few waffley ones like Mexica, Terraforming Mars, and Mystic Vale still make me go "hmmmmm...."....there's a trend there....). ....bees.
I certainly respect that you’re taking into account the cost, storage requirements, and whatnot of the hobby. I know many people (like myself) are unable to buy and/or store bundles of games, but with the continued growth in the industry, we are likely able to play before we buy. Maybe SU&SD should look at evolving the basic recommendation to include different sorts of recommendations. These could include recommending to try before you buy. With many friendly local game stores, libraries, and board game cafes/pubs there shouldn’t be any reason that people shouldn’t look into trying games before blindly buying them (regardless of how thorough the reviews are).
Amazing review as always Paul! Especially the rant at 16:26
I loved this review! Thanks for your point of view and bee photos. As the kind of person who will never want to play Carcassonne, I really want to try Ex Libris again. Books with silly names just really do it for me XD
Ah the bit at the end about youtube recommendations is great! They totally overload you if you watch one video about a certain topic.
I love how we get not only great insight into the process and purposes of reviewing in the minds of the reviewers... but also montages of swearing and bees. That's why I stick around, for the bees!
you done a good review , funny , interesting , sarcastic and enthusiastic ... i love how you not encourage to buy every game there is , i think you made it crystal clear ... as for most recent games i never understood why the sellers prefer to use the cheap and boring peaces instead af small miniatures? the difference in a few dollars would be still preferable

I'm right with you on more games owned not necessarily equating to more games played or more enjoyment out of them. I've cut my collection down to about two dozen and greatly reduced my buying rate, and I still have games that barely get played because I'd rather play Sidereal Confluence or Tyrants yet again, or break out Evolution or Midgard for the first time in a while.
My barrier is not having a game group. Q_Q

Really love this review, thinking of getting it now it's been translated to Spanish
My brain failed and the first time, I heard Paul say "orange japron" at 5:37. Now I will not rest until I see an orange denim apron.
Paul, your slights and visually stimulating asides and interjections/comparisons remind me of Pinky's MANY responses to Brain always asked question.
0:10 real facts
I remember not listening to Paul and buying Ex Libris. It is now 4 years later and its been unloved on a shelf. Gonna bring it back to the table tomorrow with a new group. The art and theme is so good, the shelving mechanic is neat but the inconsistency is a big barrier to it hitting the table.
New SU&SD vid? is it Christmas??? :D
$$$ and space, the reason why I seem to gravitate more to small box games, Welcome to the dungeon, Unstable unicorns, Love Letter etc. Fun small cheap. Good.
A man after my own heart -- regarding the youtube algorithms.
Not the Bees!! D:
Nice that you mentioned not to buy every new ("good") game like in a pursuit of material things.
One man’s descent into bibliophilic madness.
You could have 2 tiers of recommendation, one for absolute must, one for good games for people who want to overload their game collection
Looks like Paul has a beautiful new home! (A real challenge in Canada’s most expensive to live city.)
I like Paul.
I won't buy it now but it'll definitly go on my wishlist. Thank you :)
9:17 But can ghosts chair?
I bought this on pre-order, and have yet to play it again. This should have been about boardgames, not books or video games jokingly. Oh I agree about being selective about games... and how many is enough. Now that I know what games i like and play often I know what to avoid... My goal this year is to stick to what game groups will play... and get rid of games I dislike and never what to play again( examples Fluxx, Citadels, spy fall, Werewolf, epic mini galaxy, Codenames(not duet I love duet) and the Mysterium rule book, its more trouble than it's worth than the euro co-op version)
@dhmcarver

Pete Mart, you know you can use the Duet templates for any Codenames game, right? My son and I do this all the time--we love Duet.
Great points at the end! Quality over quantity
This was a beautiful and fun game with just the right amount of digestibility for new strategy gamers. So sad it's off the market now
Absolutely Fantastic
Next on SU&SD: Flat Earth, The Boardgame (it's flat!)
Maybe have more options than the Binary?
I liked and subscribed please don't set the youtube gods on me
Instructions unclear. I now only have recommendations for conspiracy videos about how Earth is actually a board game, and reviewing which Earths are worth buying.
of course ghosts can hug.
Daytime dressed, under the covers, eating Cheez-Its? I worry for you, Paul...
I can't imagine this game is easy to pitch to friends.
I have never laughed as much at a review. But I am slightly concerned about Paul's mental health.
Love you paul
I hope Paul is happy with the fact that youtube no longer recommends conspiracy videos in its algorithms.
paul I think you've exceeded your review swear quota

As an avid consumer of information and as you have just made me aware of this glaringly obvious discrepancy; Dear, Shut Up and Sit Down. As an establishment trusted for journalistic integrity and critical thinking, could you please FIX IT for me to get all my half-baked conspiracy theories and top quality boardgame reviews in one handy reliable place?

Shut Up and Sit Down is on the verge of not recommending any games due to social conscience and that may not be a bad thing.
It's pretty and unique but I didn't like the shelving part of the game at all. There is a lot to love but, like Sagrada, it's just not fun for me.
Wish this game didn't cost too much to ship to Turkey.
I would recommend using this player aid for at least the locations: playeraid.net/modules/ex_libris/en This works well on a phone. (full disclosure: I run this site, but it is community supported: github.com/crustymonkey/playeraid_modules)
OMG! The woman playing with Quinns is so fucking gorgeous! *drool* Anw... yeah, we want more Paul!
I'm curious, am I the only one around here who just completely hates all worker placement games I've ever played?
Bees!
Can Paul's end rant become a permanent feature on all SU&SD videos from now on, please?
I bought this game recently, love it. The white writing is a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. Also my bees are actually H's. Fucking H's.

Best book by far "200 Pages to start a fire with"
I was going to "like" the video anyway, but bashing flat earther conspirators definitely sealed it
I'm constantly watching you lot because you shit on the things you don't like. Not some shill for that trash cardboard cash, a straight shooter like myself including the whole taking things too far into the oddity. I'll be spending wise thanks to you guys.
You lost me at "books"
No, there is NO variety in this game. You are doing the same thing over and over again: shelving cards in alphabetical order.
under fully automated luxury communism we'll all be able to enjoy all sorts of game design in modest comfort without stressing over whether we can afford it or not, and we won't have to constantly say "don't try this good game because there's a better game that covers similar bases" anymore
