In Honduras 🇭🇳 is the same way. “Paja” = Mentira “Pajero” = Mentiroso.
En México le dicen pastel al biscocho. Pero en Puerto Rico un pastel es algo semejante al tamal pero hecho de verduras. Pero verduras en México son vegetales, cuando en PR son viandas. Biscocho en México es vagina en algunos lugares. Y si entendiste este revolú, te felicito. 😂

+ Yo soy practicamente adoptado por los Mexicanos... Asi que yo te entiendo muy bien. Tambien los Mexicanos le llaman Torta a algo muy parecido a los Chimichurri, que en lo general es algo parecido a la Hambruguesa. Pero en Dominicana una Torta es un tipo de postre.

Currently learning Spanish and this greatly increased my love for Pero Like. I don’t understand everything but it’s still funny. I wish I had this back in high school.
What some Spanish countries call Chayote (vegetable), in Jamaica, we call it chocho. Well, when I lived in Washington Heights, I had many people look at me really strange when I asked for it. I later found out what Chocha was and I made sure I started calling it by it's Spanish name.

¡Wow! Es muy cierto, el léxico varía mucho de acuerdo a el país y con una misma palabra nombramos innumerables cosas. Acá en Colombia paja tiene varios sentidos: hablar paja es decir mentiras, paja de las hojas de palma y hay otro que mejor ni decirlo. Ese de comerse un pollito y el de la bicicleta no me los hubiese imaginado.... Pero esa es la riqueza de ser latinoamericanos... 🤗

I'm not Puerto Rican but bicho is a word that has a lot of dirty undertones to me. I'm Peruvian & Dominican but when I hear bicho my brain gets a dirty feeling. I associate bicho with being dirty. Even though in some countries it means little animal.

im puerto rican but i take a spanish class in the states, and my favorite example of double meanings ever is when i was doing lower level busywork for a sub and the packet was talking about whales. the question was asking if the whale was an insect, mammal, etc., but one of the answer choices was "bicho" 😂😂😂 i could not stop laughing and none of my classmates understood because they're from central america

El "pendejo" es de México y si es una palabra muy fuerte incluso en México si le dices a una persona que va caminando esa palabra seguro te rompera la cara es una palabra mas que fuerte es un insulto al mexicano, saludos hasta la arjentina 🇦🇷

También lo usamos para referirnos a personas más chicas o inmaduras: "este pendejo insolente" o "tiene 45 pero es un pendejo". Es como la forma despectiva de referirse a niños y adolescentes o gente más chica q uno. A veces también se usa como halago "que decís que estas viejo si estás hecho un pendejo, ni arrugas tenés"

Menos mal que no están en Perú. Aquí "Pendejo" puede significar: idiota, vivo y bello púbico. O sea, si escuchan decir: -El bro le robó en su cara. (la respuesta es) Ta qué pendejo, causa. (o sea que fue oportunista o se aprovecha de otro) -Cuando alguien se cae la gente dice: Por pendejo. ( o sea que se cayó por idiota) -Cuando son adolescentes les dicen "te van a crecer los pendejos" ( o sea, vello púbico) PD: No es joda, es la verdad xD

In Argentina we also use the word paja for telling that we don't feel doing anything. It's like "tengo una paja" 😂😂 we also use boludo a lot, right now it's very on trend the acronym ATR, which is" a todo ritmo". A couple of months ago was skere or evil mode "modo diablo" 😂😂😂 The Word cajeta for example it's very common in Mexico, here cajeta means vagina too, so we can't say dulce de cajeta 😂😂😂

The reason I wondered is because to me it's like calling someone a cunt.... Which is definitely much stronger than how they use it on Pero Like, and kinda shocked me the first time I heard someone say it. So haha, clarification is helpful. Fucker seems a bit harsh too so maybe it's the same 🤣😂

Spanish is my second language and I generally pick up words from songs these days. Since I'm getting words from (mostly) Colombian, Chilean, Spanish, Mexican, and Argentinian Spanish, I'm absolutely terrified that one of these words is going to come back to bite me when I'm talking to someone. So scared. So so scared.

Me and my boyfriend have this situation. He is Dominican and I’m Panamanian. In panama we have a saying for natural juices . It’s called chicha. I told him one day “me antoja una chicha”.He looked at me and drag me to the room. Saying get undressed. I was so confused. Apparently chicha to Dominicans means to have sex. So yeah awkward.
