As a half salvadoreña and half dominicana, the word ahorita has caused many arguments. In the end, we always ask “ahorita dominicano o salvadoreño?”

It's very interesting and ultimately important to understand different meanings for different things from Latin countries all over the world. Not just the correct way of saying particular words and meanings but, the wrong way of saying them as well. What you routinely say on a daily basis in your native language may be considered disrespectful to someone else. Thanks for sharing Pero Like.

Hacen unos años determine resolver el dilema de ahora y ahorita. Yo noto que cuando nosotros los Dominicanos decimos ahorita, simplemente decimos "orita" énfasis en la "oh". Yo voy "orita" o más tarde. Cuando escucho Hondureños u otro Latino Americanos decir "ahorita" el énfasis está en el "ahu". Cuando entendí esto al instante pude diferenciar entre el uno y el otro. Ya no me confundo.

Roslyn Marrero ahh it does sound like now ( coming from someone who’s not fluent and used to mostly hear be around Dominican’s speakers although I grew up in a Colombian/ South American area and I’m New York Rican parents were born in Puerto Rico raised here so they didn’t speak much Spanish) find this interesting

En Colombia usamos "ahorita" para más tarde o decimos "ahora más tarde" "ahora en un rato" y otras más 🤣

En Rd todavía hay más palabras. Yo siempre hablo con mis amigos de otros países y es difícil entenderme ya sea por el acento o por las jergas barriales o de wawawa. Ya si te encuentras a un dominicano que trata de hablar educado lo llamamos un popi. También popi puede ser una muchacha que se vea chucky o buenisima y puede que tengo dinero o solo que sea vea de alta clase.

As a colombiana, ahorita means "in a while" and ahora means right now.

Yo soy de Panama 🇵🇦 y tuve un novio Dominicano por casi 5 años. Que risa, nosotros tambien peleabamos por el "ahorita" y "ahora" pero siempre de broma. Para mi ahorita es "ya mismo, en este instante" y "ahora" es "mas tarde, en un rato".

Soy de Panama y el ahora y el ahorita son fracciones de tiempo diferentes dependiendo de que se este hablando.

This is so funny, because my family primarily where born in Nicaragua, But sadly my family was very private about a lot of things I didn't really know much about my great grandpa because he divorced my great grandma before I was born so I barely saw him.pero era bien negrito y lindo! People say he was 100% puerto rican, And a lot of the words and the way the older nicaraguense men ( at least in my family) speak they sound Carribean! ( found out later my family also come from Bluefields,Nicaragua la Costa) So every time I've spoken Spanish everybody thinks I'm puerto rican I never understood where they hear that accent from but a lot of the words there are spoken for example in example in my family at least when my family says " Ahora" that means for us later not NOW.and we are " Central American" and bicho for us means Vagina! 🤣🤣🤣

Ahorita es como decir "algún día" para el colombiano. Uno tiene que preguntar ¿ahorita cuándo? Para saber a qué se refieren, si no, puedes quedarte esperando toda una vida 🤷🏽‍♀️
