Curly Gives His Parents' Messy Room A Makeover

Curly and his mom sort through piles of memories to turn a storage room into the guest room of their dreams. Hopefully they're able to discern the junk from the gems!

    Curly, if ya'll decide to get rid of the desk. Ya'll should donate to art student art school. Just an idea. My drafting table was given to by another artist who was longer use it.

    The art student can probably just put a big cutting board on top if there are scratches on the table~~ I know it’s another expense, but most artsy people need a big cutting board anyways.

I can say now my parents feel good and motivated. We're attempting to paint the exterior which will be a big project but the reward is so much better to have your parents enjoy where they are living in. They deserve it!

    I remember when my brother's room - which was at the time a storage room - was worse than the clutter in your house (not trying to be mean). It had office supplies to the ceiling. And it got so filled up to the point where there was no longer a path and we were just stepping over stuff. Then one day my tia from my mom's side came in and cleaned the whole space all by herself (minus 1 or 2 heavy things) in just 2 days! She's to this day one of my favorite tias. Mostly because she is super funny and cooks so well.

    😂😂😂 same! My MIL does the same. But I think she does it because maybe growing up she didn't have much so she cherishes everything she owns. She is not a dirty person at all though, I call her a clean hoarder. She has 3 blender machines and only one works, and she won't throw away the other two, they are stored in her kitchen. She has new pots and pans but won't use them because she doesn't want to ruin them but uses old pots and pants that have broken handles and uses those instead, she once even kept using a broken wooden spoon until one day it mysteriously disappeared. She has blankets and sheets neatly folded in bulky drawers she doesn't use and keeps all my kids old clothes that don't fit them at all aswell in those drawers (I tell her she just needs to get rid of them but she says she want to keep them to take back with her to her country when she visits... she always goes and never takes anything) My Sister in law says she is going to wait until her mom goes on vacation again so she can clear out everything her mom doesn't use and just holds on to.

    Great job, Curly! I'm in the midst of changes right now; sort of a spiritual renovation right now. Also, may be moving soon. Just having to reevaluate priorities is the single most stressful part of reorganizing. The physical is the easy part. When you deal with anything that has an emotional attachment or memories, it makes it that much harder to deal with. But you did it! And the journey was easier, with the help of your Parents. Enjoy your "new" space.

    Janet Wood just an idea, maybe with the very sentimental stuff (if you can limit to favorites maybe) you could display them in your house, maybe on a shelf, bookcase (incorporate them in your house decor) etc. that way you have them but actually enjoy them. If they sit in a storage room collecting dust, you’re spending lots of money in the long run and you’re not even enjoying them or seeing them :/ anyway, best of luck!

  • @mistym0rning

    @mistym0rning

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@MsJanetWood -- wow... "only" a hundred dollars a month? Let me be brutally honest: that is $1,200 a year!! If you instead put that money in a piggy bank (or savings account) you could afford an awesome trip overseas EACH YEAR! So it's actually a LOT of money. But yeah, I totally get that a lot of things have sentimental value, but I'm sure it's possible to get rid of SOME stuff... you don't need every single drawing you made in middle school or every single postcard you ever got, lol... and as for clothes, books, etc: go through them, be brutally honest with yourself whether you really need to keep them OR could potentially donate them. Anyway. To each his own -- I don't mean to be judgmental, but I know friends that have had a storage unit for 2-3 years, they initially got it just to keep "a few things" until they'd get a bigger apartment, but then once they did move into a bigger space they ended up getting new furniture etc... so they ended up STILL not having enough space in their new apartment for all their stuff. So they kept the storage unit, on and on and on.... and to think how much money they WASTED on a storage unit over 3 years or so is quite heartbreaking, when you think of it as being $3,000+ or so.

En fin, que diferencia...que a veces sencillamente abro la puerta para ver lo ordenado que se ve. Excepto que me falto pintarlo.

    i was just at my awellos house, and was looking at a photo album ~ i saw my aunt when she was 17 posing in a corner of the room. there was the same photo in the same place next to the broken grandfather clock. shes almost 40 and nothing has changed lmao ..like two decades & three grandkids later, there's not a lot of progress on the walls or like the apartment in general. xD now that my tio had grandkid number three and started to get his shit together 110%, me and him are constantly trying to change the place up lol
