Palästinalied in Latin - Farya Faraji & The Skaldic Bard
Ойын-сауық
This video is made up of three chapters, namely The Holy Land, Battle for Jerusalem and The Crusades Have Begun, of Farya Faraji's ( @faryafaraji ) brilliant new symphony, The Crusader. These sections are based on the 13th century Palästinalied by Walther von der Vogelweide, a melody that has been preserved to this day. I was honoured to have my Latin translation of Palästinalied featured in the symphony, and that's what you can hear in this video.
Please go and check out the symphony - it's a piece of art and could teach you a thing or two about how the First Crusade went down! You can listen to it here: • The Crusader - Epic Sy...
Lyrics:
Prima vice vivo vere
quia ego peccator video
nobilitatem huius terrae
cui tantus honor datur; ideo,
nostrum maximum opus:
ad locum illum venimus
in quo ut homo ibat Deus.
Terrae pulchrae et divites,
sicut alibi vidi.
Tu honor omnium eorum es.
Talia miracula hic!
Ex Virgine natus est
angelorum omnium Rex.
Haec hominis cara prex!
Christiani, iudaei et ethnici
sunt ob terram hanc inimici.
Arbitrium Dei vicit,
in nomine triplici.
Hic est pax perusta!
Est petitio nostra iusta!
Nobis dabitur terra venusta!
Hic baptizatus est, Purus,
ut homines essent puri.
Ibi Dominus venditus,
ut servi essemus liberi.
Alioquin perditi essemus!
Ave, Hasta, Spina, Crux!
Vae paganis! Vobis vulnus!

@@danielfloyd1679 it could but this is more correct way, for instance in catholic liturgy (traditional one) it's said "Dominus vobiscum" (Lord with you), and altar server (or people depending the mass) replies with "et cum spiritu tuo" (and with your spirit). Christus Nobiscum means Christ with us.

@@matthewsiregar You're not wrong. Hell, even in English you could say both “Christ with us” and “with us, Christ”, though it would affect which word is being emphasised.
"Here, the Pure One was baptised So that men could be pure" I like this part the most!
I was just literally listening to Farya's crusader video right now while painting and I get pinged. You guys are almost singlehandedly getting me mentally through this cycle of work. Thanks again!

I clicked for Farya but I was not expecting it to be this epic. Well done to all of you!
Genuine question. What was your source and motivation to learn Gothic? I want to do it myself. Great song btw.
gorgeous arrangement, interesting translation, two very skilled artists! A lot to think about with western christians still to this day having a fervor to keep conquest going in the territory for the dreams of a rapture ahead...
I just had to write one more message because for 2 hours i just listened this song on repeat and i had to say that it is something more profound and precious than every gem or gold from this world. Keep up with this beautiful work and awesome collaboration!

For sometime I have really hoped Farya Faraji and The Skaldi Bard would work jointly on something. Wonderful ❤❤❤.
I saw and clicked on this (very excitedly) on Farya's channel and holy smokes it is beautiful, the sort of thing that inspires me to make my own music

I loved the previous version, but this is a whole 'nother level!
Thank you so much☺ I asked for this masterpiece in the comment section of that video of Farya Faraji and you both made this masterpiece. Thank you very much❤ God bless both of you.

Now this is the cherry on top! It’s just simply chef’s kiss, it sounds so good. Hope to hear more of it as soon as possible or I will start a new crusade with this as background music! 😁
Great job! You both are great❤
Two unique minds joined forces and the result is godly. Fantastic.

Skald! again, wonderful. Can we count this as a part of your HD remakes? you sound splendid as always accompanied by your friend's spectacular performance and wether it was you or he on the stringed instrument, it was very, very well played and i give my congratulations. I am a fan of the vocalisations in the background during the instrumental and found they added a lot of depth throughout their use, however i feel their impact was greatest there I also feel the need to compliment how well your two voices go together and the harmony you two have lovely to have a new release, Skald, as always you and your wife take care! God bless
Your voice has such an epic quality Skald, also love that you added both german and latin lyrics

First Farya, then the bard. Damn it, why? The symphony came out great, the entire playlist was included. Well, why even more?
Instant like.
Out of all the ~40 versions of this song I have heard, this is by far the best. The only thing that could improve it is singing in Classical Latin rather than Ecclesiastical. Thank you for uploading it as its own video so I don't have to put the entire symphony in my playlist! Can you PLEASE make a version of this in Classical Latin?
