Honestly I feel Hikaru is the biggest supporter for Levy becoming a GM. He acts like a cold shower teacher, putting reality front and center, but always is giving him lessons in how to become better, and even goes as far as playing bad openings like this to give Levy a chance and see how well he does.
@MistaOppritunity
28 күн бұрын
I don't think he used a bad opening to give Levy a chance. He uses bad openings like that all the time against multiple people, he even did that in... I think the speed chess championship? He played basically the alphabet against top level competitors and made it to the grand finals against Magnus, whom he started playing more real openings against. He likely plays those bad openings to get up on time because he values the time more than the opening advantage against a lower rated player.
@idk-fe1fj
28 күн бұрын
@@MistaOppritunityno, it's not to gain or give advantages. it's simply because it's easier to leave openings theory if you play a bad opening because playing a very theoretical game would most likely lead to a drawn endgame, and you wouldn't want that to happen specially if you would lose 3-10 points just by drawing your opponent.

@@MistaOppritunity Yeah true, a better example as he said was Queen take Pawn early on which wasn't ideal. That Speed Chess Championship though was legendary, I watched that live and just laughed, all his opponents were sweating and giving their best, meanwhile Hikaru was trying to remember what was the last Pawn he opened with.
@derek8315
28 күн бұрын
@@idk-fe1fj Bingo. Hikaru does this all the time. The goal is to get out of theory as early as possible, and have the player play their own moves from something like move 5 instead of move 20. When you are a higher rated player you want the chess instincts and skill to come into play, not just memorization of stockfish lines and positions they have been in hundreds of times

Such a great video. It is amazing to see the difference in how you think compared to levy compared to myself having less than 1000 Elo in blitz. The whole delayed development idea, pushing forward with initiative instead.
Hikaru is my idol
Love this! Surely Levy will upload too!
this was a lot more instructive to listen to than when you narrate your own games while they happen. I liked todaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays video
Thanks for posting this 😊!
You can tell Hikaru is actually trying to help levy in this vid. This is a lesson for levy first and a yt vid second
Super instructive!
Let's go Hikaru and Levy!! This was a nice game to see. Good breakdown.

Hikaru and levy two streamers going head to head. Their battle will be legendary
Alex Botez had the right reaction when meeting Hikaru in titled Tuesday, she screamed, loudly 😂
I hope Hikaru would start coaching Levy as it's an obvious win-win due to how popular that content would be.
Hikaru, Welcome to Vancouver. Glad you brought the sunshine
Love this!!! Would be cool to see Levy make a video about this 😊
Other title: "Levy's chances to become a GM are slim to none"
Is there anyone more savage then Hikaru. The subtle shade constantly.
GREAT CONTENT.. you just keep getting better
Saw you in Vancouver today!
I hope your stay at Vancouver is enjoyable!
the initial roast to levy is hilarius lol
Very instructive, thank you for your content! I'm sure Levy would have benefited as well.
Plot twist: Levy was Gukesh’s second at the candidates.
Levy: I am going to try to become a GM again! Hikaru: so right off the bat I'm going to play this suboptimal move, trading damage to my position for damage to Levy's psyche since this basically lets him know from the start that I'm just going to be clowning on him.
Levy : e4 lets play some deep theoritical well studied lines in ruy lopes Hikaru : okey poor IM a6 just to test your basics first
Levy’s time odds troll opening backfired. 😃
Levy is gonna make a 30 minutes video out of this exact same game
Hikaru, a top level GM: 2,34 mil subs Levy, on the road for his GM title almost at 30: 4,89 mil subs Maybe you also have some lessons to learn from the man himself, Hikaru ;)
I get the feeling hikaru made this video for levy
Levy: Hikaru can I be a GM? Hikaru: Can you?
It's nice to see Hikaru supporting Levy
Hikaru's ' Todaaaaaaaay's video' is constant in every video
0:04 why he look at me like that
Levy never fails to run into Hikaru
"Even against Levy" 😂😂😂
Bro called him Levi Roseman 😂😂
Hikaru would make an outstanding sports psychologist
Hikaru: See you guys, byeeeee.. Alright you guys WE ARE BACK.
Hikaru would reach GOAT level if he trains levy properly into a GM.
Bro respectfully roasted levy in all ways
Bro said levi you dont know much chess in million different ways
This is the best moment for this video ever because his opponent is the one who pursue a Grandmaster title so he teach him a lesson and I'm aware he learned something from this. I hope this video helps not just from us but from GothamChess as well.
hikaru with immense disrespect fewer than 3 moves in and less than 1:15 into this video. it's a masterclass
can't wait for the Carlus Magsen game!!
There has been a change in tone from Hikaru while talking about Gothamchess. Few months ago he was like "Levy a GM? Don't be ridicolous!", now he's way more friendly, even if he obviously obliterates Levy at chess. I don't mind it, the most niceness in the world the better for everyone.
Love from india❤ I love watching your recaps
That was awesome!
Stud move to give the man pointers here.
If Levy is serious about becoming a GM he should use some of that KZread money to hire Hikaru to train him. Just 2-3 weekly sessions can make a huge difference.
Thank you Hikaru
