I always think Vader saw a lot of Padme in Luke. That is why he has such a strong bond with him, rather than Leia. So in a way, when Emperor's electrocuting him, he actually sees Padme suffering (probably the moment he force choked her in RotS, which I have to say, wonderfully edited in this video), and that's why he decided to finally return to the light. This video is just absolute perfection.

True. I really do believe that Palpatine did not just take Anakin's family from him, he took his very humanity from him. He made him into a machine programmed to do his bidding. He saw him as nothing but a compliant robot, and for so long he was. But then he went too far. He tried to kill his son in front of him, and in that moment, love was reawakened. Love bought back Anakin and gave him the courage to destroy evil, save his son and the Galaxy As the final lines of Revenge of the Sith say. "The dark is generous and it is patient and it always wins, but in its strength is its greatest weakness. The smallest candle can hold it back Love is more than a candle. Love can ignite the stars"

Palpatine was unable to realize just what sent Anakin over the edge in the first place: not hate, not fear, but a desperate love to save those he cared about from death. Anakin craved the stability of personal control as he'd been raised as a slave under the control of others. Luke essentially forced Vader to confront those feelings again, as Anakin deeply loved his son and likely thought, in that moment, that he would lose Luke the way he did Padmé and his own mother Shmi. In losing Padmé, Anakin repressed his humanity. But Luke is able to bring it out again, redeeming his father.

If Leia had been in Luke's position, she would have turned to the dark side in Return of the Jedi for almost the same reason Anakin did in Revenge of the Sith. It would have been to save her friends. Luke didn't turn because there was more of Padmé in him than Anakin. Leia was the other way around.

I'd say Luke probably inherited the most from his mother. In Return of the Jedi, we see that Luke inherited Padme's drive for peace. When dealing with Jabba, for example, Luke initially tries to get the Hutt to peacefully surrender his friends. But when he finds that there's no other option, Luke ignites his saber and fights, cutting down those who try to stop him.

The fact that Luke reassembles Padmé in every way it's just so perfect and heartbreaking because of this video I absolutely know Padmé would have been a great mother to both Leia and Luke. Also if you see well Leia resembles Anakin so much too.

It is indeed notable that Luke seems to have inherited Padmé's personality, whereas Leia is more like Anakin. She can be blunt and aggressive in a way Luke is not, but of course she happily stayed on the good side. Not sure what might have happened if she had received Force training prior to A New Hope, though. Especially as we met her in the original move, she had a clearly arrogant and impatient streak in her personality, and the siren call of the Dark Side would have been a terrible temptation to her 19-year-old self.

When you think about it, Luke was probably more like his mother: kind, patient, and always tries to see the good in people. Leia was actually more like Anakin: headstrong, steadfast, and preferring to stand with her men at the battlefront.

She basically abandoned him for the sake of her political career, and when he became lonely an isolated at the Jedi academy could not turn to his mother. When he *needed* his parents the most. That was the reason Snoke was able to groom him, he was a lonely, bullied misfit without a proper parental figure , because his mum and dad were so wrapped up in their own lives they had no time for him. Then she didn't even give him a chance. I know he went wrong, but most parents will do anything for their kids, and will forgive anything.

It interesting how we are told by the actions and characters themselves that state Luke is too much like Anakin and we see their parallel journey with different outcomes. Yet forget to realize that while Luke has Anakin’s will he has very much inherited Padmé heart...he is as much as Padmé’s son as he is Anakin’s

The big parallel between Luke and his Mom Is that they never EVER gave up on Anakin and knew deep down that there was always good in his heart

I can see now why Vader had a soft spot for Luke. Not only was he his son, but his personality and character constantly reminded him about his dead wife Padme. For decades Vader tried to bury his former life in his own inner darkness, but it took only the words and actions of a simple farm boy from Tatooine to push the darkness out and free Anakin Skywalker who was trapped within for so long.

I love this. Always thought Luke was more like Padme, personality wise. Leia definitely was the one who got Anakin’s temper.

This is so beautiful, so heartbreaking, so perfect. I completely agree with you, Padme and Luke share so many parallels. They both had such a gentle nature, that they are purely good in their hearts, they always saw the best in people. I know for certain that Padme did not die because "she lost the will to live" because look at her when she looks at Luke? Padme was destined to be a mother but it was taken away from her from the force (which I believe killed her). Seriously, I applaud you, you are making me cry.

This is a great video of Luke and Padme. Mother and Son said the same sentence to Anakin/Vader. I wish they both have bonding. Before Padme died in Revenge of the Sith, she said “there’s good in him” and after that, in Return of the Jedi, Luke said “there is still good in him.” They both said that to Obi-Wan. Like mother Like Son.

This is really sweet and sad. Luke was so much like Padme. I’ll admit it’s good that fans are starting to recognize Padme and the role she did play in the franchise overall. There is a saying that great heroes and leaders don’t get praise during their time. It’s only after their deaths, that they get recognition. I think that fits Padme’s character very well. Rest In Peace Skywalker family.❤😢🙂

Sleeping at Last is one of my fave bands and ofc Luke's gentle heart is one of my favorite things about him. This parallels that with Padme's pure soul so poignantly. Truly moving.

I think it he *looks* more like his father, and he certainly had his striking blue eyes, but in terms of personality, he has a lot of his mother.

I imagine Padme spoke to Luke sometime between ESB and ROTJ, like when Han spoke to Kylo/Ben in TROS.

Watching the end was crazy. It was like Vader was reminded of how palpatine made him loose his first love and all the suffering that came about from that. So watching palpatine physically harming luke he's reminded of that but he realizes he can stop it this time. That's such a cool concept

This is one of the most touching complication videos I've ever seen. Never saw the connections and the similarities between Padme and Luke. Bring more sorrow and sadness to the overall story of a son not knowing his mother and a Mother who'll never know the greatness of her children. Very WELL DONE. 5 out of 5 stars

People often criticise George Lucas as being some kind of idiot, but all of these parallels were very thoughtfully placed in these movies at his discretion. The truth is that he is a very intelligent man, and while he may not be the best at writing a screenplay, his world-building is unrivalled.

@@anakinspadme I think ROTJ should have one little edit, that would make a HUGE difference. When Luke says "I know there is still good in you" and Vader turns away and sadly says "Obi-Wan used to think as you do", it should be changed to "Your mother used to think as you do". I actually think if Darth Vader could cry, he was crying in that moment he just stood silently in that moment after Luke went off screen.

In Vader's defense, he had no idea Leia was his daughter. Had he known, I believe he would have found some way to help her, even if it got him into trouble with the Emperor, who liked to torture *HIM* for 'failing'.

Its kind of a plot hole really, because the actor they used for the unmasking scene in ROTJ was like in his 60s, when Anakin was only 22/23 when he turned, and was Vader for 23 years. So he would have been only 45/46 when he died. Did you know that Luke was the same age when he took part in the battle of Yavin that Anakin would have been when The Clone Wars started, and when he married Padme? Luke was also the same age Anakin was when he became Darth Vader when he died. I do agree. The sequels are so lazy. The just rehash the old storyline all over again. We should have had something based on Legends. Then we could have had Jeacen and Jaena Solo, Anakin Solo and Ben Skywalker.

Absolutely beautiful and touching. Lately I've been reading a lot of fanfics that involve Padme surviving Episode III and either going into hiding or being captured by Sidious. But all of them involve all 4 Skywalkers reuniting after nearly 20 years or so. They all agree with you that Luke takes after his mother much more noticeably than his father and vice versa for Leia. At times, not only do Luke's lines parallel Padme's, but it is at least possible, if you consider the religious themes that Star Wars incorporates, that Padme's spirit speaks through her son to try to bring her husband back from the dark side. Such lines include, "It is the name of your true self. You've only forgotten. I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully. That is why you couldn't destroy me. That's why you won't bring me to your Emperor now." Re-watching that particular clip, quite clearly a parallel to Muatafar, and the language of Sidious not driving out all the good in Anakin, as well as, "That is why you couldn't destroy me," is just so powerful that at least for me, it goes beyond even mother and son paralleling each other. anakinspadme No problem. I think that if the movies came out in chronological order, instead of "Obi-Wan once thought as you do," Anakin would have told his son, "Your mother once thought as you do," or, "Obi-Wan and your mother once thought as you do."

Nah. I think Vader would have still said "Obi-wan once thought as you do." because he would be unable to bring up Padme.

@@seanbrower6738 I actually believe that even during their duel after that Vader never planned to kill Luke. He would even have preferred that Luke kill him if it meant he would survive. I think he really believed that the Emperor would only let him live if he agreed to turn to the Dark Side and be his servant, and bringing him before the Emperor was the only way to save him. Even as early as TESB there's just some hints. Vader says "he's just a boy". Its like even then, having only just realized his son was still alive, he wanted to protect him.

Padme and Luke two were the only ones who had Hope in Anakin There is still good in him

padme was so excited to raise padme and leia 💔, and i can just imagine luke saying something to darth vader, and him saying thats what padme would have wanted

All your videos are just perfect! Ah, the feels!! It's sometimes hard to see the connection between luke/padme and leia/Anakin in terms of family because all the movies beat the ideea that luke is vader's son and leia is luke's sister. I don't think they ever said "Leia is Vader's daughter" in the entire OT. These videos are just awesome!

+MsHEADbanging Yeah it's really sad that they don't put more focus on the fact that Leia is also Vader's daughter, I mean, they never even got a proper scene together where they knew they were father and daughter. I also have seen Anakin's snarky personality in Leia and Luke's softness in Padme. I just love the Skywalker family so much:'D And aww thank you so much!
