I hope this doesn't sound totally weird but Peter is so relaxing...he has such a relaxing and calming personality and attitude. He is so perfect for Mary. I love listening to him preach. God really knew how to use Peter in a wonderful way.

To answer your question, I'm a beach person. Agree traveling with an illness means packing a ton of stuff. But it's totally worth making great memories aside from all the medical stuff. For myself, I must pick my battles and seize the day when I have a chance to do something fun. Yes, I pay a big price and need to pace myself. There's another way to look at this also, your blessed enough to be able to travel, many people are not, there are some people who'd be over the moon to go out for a just a day. So, in the final analysis, not that bad...it's packing, just packing. Have a safe trip.

I remember being in the ER, connected to the IV for fluids. Needles are nothing to me, but they ended up yanking the IV out of my arm! Bled more than usual, and the bruise was huge. When Peter says "Coming in and hearing coughing and crying, I just crumbled..." I notice the change in their eyes when she is coughing.. doesnt say much, just part of life with CF. The times when he is in his response and so honest. Heartbreaking.. Thank you both for being so transparent, and courageous. Your talking about stuff so matter of factly, but if folks have seen enough of your vids, we can see it so easily.

I am sorry you got overwhelmed Mary. My eyes have been bad enough the last few years that I am unable to drive. There so far is no glasses or cure. But working on it. My mom is amazing and drives me a lot, plus we have great bus service. ... but today I just wanted to "be normal" like people getting together my age. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe time! I can totally understand what it is like to travel with medical equipment and supplies. All of that seems to take up more space than clothes, shoes, bathroom products, etc. It can be very frustrating and stressful, but definitely worth it all at the end. Where I’m at in CA we had to pack up all our med supplies super fast because of the fires. We’re all safe and have most things unpacked and a weeks worth of other stuff packed just in case. Have fun on your guys’ trip. Longer trips like that are always hard when you have to bring a ton of stuff❤️

There is one specific nurse at my infusion center who I won't allow to access my port anymore. On two separate occasions, she has pushed on my port excessively hard (causing bruising), then missed my port and proceeded to push saline after I said "don't push, it's not in the right place". She pushed so much saline just into my chest and it hurt so ridiculously much!

It is very overwhelming when you have to pack for trip when you have severe health issues. I discovered just how much so a couple of years ago. I have a feeding tube, a port,and all of my meds, including my pain med are liquid. And all medical supplies to numerous to list. What made it extra overwhelming was that I was packing for a two week trip to Russia. I had not traveled anywhere for years because health was too bad so packing for first trip could best be described as unorganized chaos. It was crazy from the moment I started packing until 32 hrs later when we finally landed in St. Petersburg and went through passport control. But it was an amazing trip. So much so that my mom and I have gone three more times. So I have had a great opportunity to learn from experience. And I had a few incidents that my mom and I still have a good laugh about.

So glad I had my blankie! Sunset was GORGEOUS, but it got a bit chilly afterwards. ha ha :P

One time I got my blood drawn and a week later I had to have it done again because they somehow managed to loose my blood

hint sometimes some labs will draw and do the wrong things with the blood and just say it was lost instead of taking blame. I am an ex phlebotomist, some labs are just lazy and take no blame. some are top notch. sorry you had to have it done again that is such a pain.

I have been thinking about you this week. I live in California in the same cities as one of the fires. I know how much trouble I am having with my asthma. Couldn’t imagine what’s it would be like to walk in your shoes this week in my town

Mary don't feel bad if you break down and have a good cry time to time. It happens to the best of us. I have been doing that lately because with my eye exam I was told I have brain damage that is affecting my vision now. So I need special glasses with 2 special coatings and bifocals for medical reasons. I have so so much going on I get overwhelmed. It feels endless and like everytime I think I got this, something new comes up. Don't feel bad about it. I still need time but will see my doctor next Friday (not this one) and we will discuss a CT scan, MRI and what steps to take next. I started joking saying "What do I need a helmet now to do simple things like housework?" LOL My sweetie laughed. Just take it as it comes sweet Mary. You are amazing and so so beautiful!

I completely understand! Victory for not puking on anything important! I like to keep the puke bags from the hospital ( the clean ones lol ) I take extras to keep with me because they are small and convenient.

4:00 haha im only a thyroid patient (hashimoto) not anything worse, and sometimes i have blood draws every 3 months. im always so thankful for those nurses who are perfect at blood drawing :) I feel I can kind of relate. I always compliment those that are good at it. ^__^

Hey, today I got blood drawn too😂😂

If you're already accessed, you can get permission from the lab head to draw your own labs at the lab, if you feel comfortable doing so. They're not allowed to touch your lines or anything, but you can hand the tech a syringe of your blood to fill their tubes. I've been doing it for years. I make sure to change my clave before I do anything related to the current draw. I bring all supplies I'd need, as they won't have any of them, except the tubes. And I bring extras of things, just in case. 😉 I had to learn since peripheral access draws are rarely viable on me.
