FACTS.

When you guys were talking about what Shawn Dean has done in AEW you forgot that he has 2 wins over MJF

I will say that I appreciate that the flaming table was at least built up to. The crazy moment of Mark getting the pyro controls when he attacked buddy was great and then the HoB promo continuing to reference fire including Julia singing ring of fie, then Mark's promo later talking about being willing to walk through fire. At least that meant several segments of build went into using the one spot and it ended the match the moment it was used so it remains a devestating spot in terms of effectiveness.

So about the Mariah/Toni stuff. People were saying on twitter that in the film "All About Eve" (which this gimmick is supposedly based on) at this point in the film, Eve starts dressing like Margo to try and emulate her to try and climb her way faster up the ladder to fame (Hence Mariah now dressing as Toni) she's trying to emulate Toni, and what better way to do that than to dress like her, and take her old character as her own.

Apparently the místico match was mentioned on the Spanish broadcast by Angelico being a dream match for him. Angelico has been having a good ROH run. Overall probably could of been a rampage match

Couldn't agree more with pretty much everything in this take. I watched the first half on Sunday morning before going to the folks' for dinner. Super excited to watch the 2nd half after how hot it was to begin with but it was so...meh haha. Love AEW but I wish they'd treat Collision like Dynamite. Make me feel like I can't miss it!

The one issue I've had with AEW Heel booking is how often AEW uses Heel Shennigans to determine a win. And they lean HEAVILY into a numbers tactic. Jericho Appreciation Society, The Inner Circle, Britt Baker (and I genuinely like her), The Undisputed Kingdom, the list goes on. I would love more heel victories via rope holds, tights, a legit victory, etc. Just variety. Because Heels with a group tend to win too much because of the numbers.

The way they explain Angelico's name pronunciation on ROH is if you are speaking English you pronounce the "g" like in "angel" and if you are speaking Spanish you pronounce the "g" like an "h".

Thanks Tempest and Dan for the review of this show! I love Toni Storm gimmick. I love seeing Mariah May with her. Mariah's reaction after winning the Toni award killed me.^^ But you're right, Toni and his gimmick doesn't put over people. If she is a heel, then you have to put against her someone that is really super over. If Mercedes debuts as a heel, the only person I could see that could make Toni a true heel is Jamie Hayter. Hayter is super over regardless of if she's face or heel. She has the star power necessary to face Toni. This gimmick is great but it's really difficult when you're the opponent.

I think Toni Storm being what she is now is okay because I think it's just the entry. I think the seeds are planted for Mariah to turn on her and reap the benefits of this run. I also think this is to re-introduce either Mercedes, Britt, or Jaime as Deonna’s backup soon. And maybe Megan Bayne debut as Mariah’s back up when she turns heel. I like that they didn't just end the Storm Purazzao feud so she doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Had the same thoughts there about Toni, Tempest. That she's supposed to be a heel but getting cheered (despite very much using heel tactics to win and maintain her reign), is dulling the reign. Swerve at least has been dialing back on scummy behavior, not using weapons offered by Nana, so there's more reason to root for him. Someone did take a pic that shows what's in the box (you aren't far off on the guesses there :p )

There were some fun segments but for me 3 squash matches is about 3 too many.

the issue with toni storm is that shes doing a better job outside the ring than most of her co-workers are prepared to do, and that's not toni's fault and she shouldn't tone it down for them they need to take chances to step up to meet her (and some will fail trying, and thats ok too)

That’s kind of been the thing with Toni’s feuds. Not only is she far more established. But fans just LIKE her character. So them booking her as a heel, does not stop fans from cheering her. You need a REALLY strong babyface to maybe go against her.

They've been giving Mystico wins on Rampage for a while now. My guess is CMLL insisted that if there guys are gonna be coming over to constantly loose then they want their biggest star to be getting wins. Also they are probably building him up in front of the AEW audience in order to have him face off against a bigger name in AEW, maybe at Forbidden Door.

The big issue with Toni Storm is that she is a character and has great mic skills. Mariah May is a character. The other women in AEW right now are not characters and do not have mic skills. Character will always be more important than wrestling skills.

Im thinking right off the cuff here that dmd and the boss have to be 1st. I think as a massive effort to be not WWE then once she gets the belt, shes gunna hold onto it for ALOT of defenses, i hope this is the point AEW has their own revolution of sorts. You can't give her the title unless the plan is to turn toni face off of it, if she just loses and then goes off to fued with may because of reasons it'll be a waste. Give me money vs dmd at dynasty. Can build to all in, gives us dmd vs hayter and money vs toni for the title. Can give usba 4way tag to start the build at full gear maybe

AEW definitely has a top womans heel problem. The only overt heel is Saraya. And she has no heat. Serena Deeb is a tweener. Julia and Skye are "heels" but they get cheered too. If i were AEW, I'd bring in Moné in as a heel. Especially with her comments about going back to wwe eventually. She should be like "Im just here for the moné". Heck, maybe even put her in the Elite.

A slag is a derogatory term akin to calling someone a hoe. It’s historically a female insult, but as with most swears in British, it can also contextually be a more light hearted tongue in cheek unisex term of endearment. “Oh you cheeky slag” said with a smile and positive tone vs “oh you fucking slag” said with malice and grit in your voice.

Yeah, I think it was definitely judas theme that was more over than jericho, fans have got tired of jericho and they starting to get tired of the theme now.

Timeless Toni Storm is a phenomenal character, she just needs to figure out how to integrate that seamlessly into matches. The problem, IMHO, is that she brings too much character into the matches (the Fiend problem). What she needs is to understand that Timeless Toni believes that she USED to be great, but that's not the case. So can still wrestle without the gimmicks (except a Luthor save spot, they're grear), but has lost herself OUTSIDE the matches. It's a confidence thing. Have her wrestle great matches but the character, deep down, believes that she's lost it so goes overboard in the vignettes. The irony being she IS great, she just doesn't believe it.

unpopular opinions, I gave aew a month of viewing. it's nothing special and I feel people only like the product just to be contrary to wwe tbh.
