Pablo Escobar's Son Reveals What He Did To His Father's Betrayers

Pablo Escobar's Son Reveals What He Did To His Father's Betrayers
The people who killed him, I will kill those sons of b*tches myself!
Juan Pablo Escobar, otherwise known as Sebastian Marroquin, was only 16 when his father was gunned down on a rooftop in Medellin, Colombia.
But his father wasn’t the average dad. He was Pablo Escobar, the DEA’s most wanted man, a notorious drug kingpin that the American and Colombian authorities had been chasing for almost two decades.
But to his son, Juan Pablo, things weren’t that one-sided.

It's pretty common for the family of a criminal to have a completely different experience than the public does. I don't doubt he loved his family, his son also sees and can differentiate between the father who loved him and the criminal the public encountered.

Our tour guide was old and grow up there and worked the boats his entire life. He said he gave Pablo and his friends rides to his properties all the time, and when he did, Pablo was always VERY generous with the tip. To him, Pablo was a hero. He only focused on all the good Pablo did.

Damn, when you look at it from this angle.... Pablo left a lot of pain and misery on his family. Pablo's megalomania didn't care about anyone/anything, even his family. Contemplating consequences, foresighting.... Props to his son he kept fighting, fighting the good fight; getting a degree and doing everything to clean his name and provide a living for his family.

Througout my childhood, I was having 360 degree vision to see any coin lost. I knew usual parking spots of fat taxi drivers, and when they left the car, some coins always fell from their pockets. Few years later, when you were still playing with LEGO, I was carrying bag with cash in one hand, and boxer in other, and telescopic rod behind belt. My life was on the line, if the bag was stolen. I would bludgeon anyone to death if he try to steal it. You can't understand Pablo Escobar without circumstances. From poverty to unbelievable riches. From being noone to being God. It's really hard to step out of this train. You can't go back, from fleet of private jets to cashier at McD. And he went too far. His only way to remain alive was the be the richest and most feared Narco. There was no retirement fund for him. His only option was to fight more and more.

Pablo didn’t start the violence but he did take it to a higher level. The guys from Cali tried to kill his family by bombing their home in a building in downtown Medellin and that started the killing for revenge and more. The government was not so innocent either. I’ve read a few books by family members and his lover and one thing for sure is that he loved his family. He did some good things and also lots of bad things but had the government not betrayed him, he would not have become what he became. I’m glad to see his son talk about the love because there are other interviews where things are different. Today in Medellin he is either loved or hated. The poor adore him but others especially the rich absolutely hate him. I’ve seen that today the coke trade is much larger than it was during Pablo’s time which says a lot.

That’s how you can actually recognize that he was actually a good father (Pablo) because how many Cartel’s leaders children had turned to following their parents while him, lost his father at 16, the age when indeed he could had completely snap since the environment that his country is but no. So his mom *and* his dad so indeed the father not the Cartel’s leader was a good figure to him.

Well maybe that could be true. But I truly believe that since his dad died and ALL the money was gone. He really didn’t have any choice or chance to be or replace his father. And since he did grow up with the finer things in life and then poor. He chose to have a better life and be free of crime and not dying younger like his father did. So I would say that his dad did teach him what not to do in life. Which most other cartels don’t or won’t.

Pablo started out with great dreams but was turned into how he was by the guys in Cali and the government who and which were worse than him. There is also history that most people don’t know and it influenced him too although it was when he was a child or before he was born. Read about La Violencia and you will understand more.

yes i believe he would have followed in fathers footsteps if father alive. why? Because he would have wanted to please his father and out of love for his father, as he was just a young teenager. Maybe if he was older in his late 20's early 30's he would have then decided for himself to leave life of crime. Glad he was able to turn his life around.

14:41 It depends, but not really. Usually the character traits skip one generation. The children get the main ones from their grand parents, as the grand parents are the ones spoiling the kids, not the parents. In this specific case, we are seing Pablito spoiling his kids, but he's a bit of an exception IMHO.
