P0171 System too lean fuel trim Code on Honda Accord CRV Civic 2.4 diagnostic tips and explanation
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Welcome to @AutoScholarwithMrB! Today we are looking at this 2008 Honda Accord with a P0171 code and poor performance. The car belongs to a friend of mine who just had a huge amount of work done to it, so I agreed to give it a look. The problem was very easy to find.
Vacuum leaks and P0171 System too lean go together like twins. If you ever get this code on any car, check for vacuum leaks at hoses, valves, intakes, and the PCV system. Smoke testing can find the smaller leaks fairly quick as well.
I replaced the intake hose (cost about $40 from O'reilly Auto Parts) and had the car back running in no time.

Thanks! That was my exact issue (torn air intake hose). I was worried I would need a new fuel pump!
After looking myself I ended up finding a rip in the same spot. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome! You nailed it! Thanks so much for saving me time and $$ in diagnosing my 2009 Accord. Alan

Nice
Mr B I got a issue with my 2015 Honda civic ex
I am having the same problem on my 09 crv. Checked the air filter, checked the hose. Where else would I need to check to see if there is a leak elsewhere in the air flow system?

Could be a stuck open PCV valve
Nice one. My engine seems almost the same (2.4L iVTEC, 189BHP, year 2005), however, mine doesn't have a MAF sensor. And it also doesn't have EGR valve (fun fact heh). I'm experiencing P0171 as the LTFT (long term fuel trim) goes too high... +17% or so... I checked for vacuum leaks with a smoke and there is none! I just replaced the upstream O2 sensor with a new one (Denso) and erased the code. After 100 km or so the code came up again. I also checked for leaks in the exhaust pipe and there are no leaks. I ran out of ideas :/

Have you checked the PCV valve? If they stick it creates an internal leak to the crankcase.

@@AutoScholarwithMrB I'll check that next and also the front engine mount and brake booster... maybe I'll get lucky. Thank you for suggestion.

@@factotumted @factotumted My car is bifuel and also runs on LPG. The pressure was set too low. And that was the reason for throwing the lean code.
Common on Honda. Shit rubber and airboxes that are packed in so tight you have to flex hell out of the tube
My pvc hose was torn , pvc valve clogged up with oil.
