I second the suggestion of not starting it in gear. Thanks!

🤔 I have a 2023 Pan America and can't say I've had any issues starting the bike when I press the start button. I can, and often do, start the bike while it's still "booting". I have had issues when I turn the engine cut off switch on and nothing happens, like the battery is completely dead. The instrument module doesn't do anything, just sits there blank. After a little bit of panic, because it seems to happen when I need to get somewhere, it'll work again... Don't know what's going on there...

I think the no start issue is mostly on 1st year and early 2nd year Pan Ams. They really don't like when you don't wait for all the sensors to run checks. I noticed when I did have an issue (it was quite occasional, but I made a mental note) I was in gear, clutch pulled in. So I went to N every time I went to start it and haven't had another no start since. I've heard the new Road and Street Glides are having the same issue and that you have to wait for full boot up on them too. Weird about the blank screen? I'd check battery cables, mine have loosened 3 times and maybe they don't have a great connection? After that, I'd be on my way to the dealer so they could track down the cause. I hope you get it figured out and thank you for watching!

The factory battery is insufficient. Got over 30k on my 21 PAS. New antigravity battery when the bike was like 6 months old. Used to have occasional starting issues and would throw codes afterwards. Battery Literally solved everything. 100s of starts, thousands of miles. First start every time. Not one second on a battery tender.

Well H-D would likely agree with you about the early Pan Ams, they moved to a larger battery in newer Pan Ams. The only reason I'm avoiding the antigravity battery is I'm not sure if it's a warranty concern? I had someone tell me if my electrical system decides to self destruct, and H-D finds an antigravity (or any lithium battery really), then I'd be on the hook for the repairs. Now I'm curious and I think I'm going to contact H-D directly. Thank you for the reminder to contact them and for watching!

Same here. Changed out the battery with an antigravity. No problems since. For those of you concerned with warranty issues, there is an AGM available with 120 more cranking amps than the Harley factory original. I found it on Dennis Kirk's website for 150.00. But I'm happy with the antigravity so far.
