I am 56 years old and 310 pounds and 6'2" and been on Harleys since the late 80's and have had over 40 different Harleys from Hard tails to softails and touring bikes and from Pan Heads to late model Twincams and 3 years ago had a bad heat stroke and mild heart attack and got a 2009 Tri-Glide and been on it the last 3 years in a MC for last 18 years and held on to my softail springer to run around local to keep the 2 wheel fun of it , one of our brothers got hurt last October 2023 and we was 250 miles from his town and looked at me and said "BROTHER" you think you could ride my bike to my house and let me ride your Tricycle and I said I will "absolutely" try to for you but 2 wheels have been hard on me since my heat stroke and heart attack but we walked over to "you guessed it" a 2021 PAN AMERICA and I said oh i seen that and wondered who's it was because there were 150 bikes and BROTHERS from 13 states at our run, so I smiled a little and said we'll I raced motocross from 1979 -1992 ish this ought to be interesting and let me just say that after we got to his house I actually offered to let him use my Tri-Glide for a few weeks if he wanted to😂 and 3 months later I was at Harley-Davidson in Louisville ky picking up my own 2021 Pan America on February 2nd 😂😊 , I truly was amazed how it made me sit and how my posture was relieving the pain in my back and legs and I COULD BE ON 2 WHEELS TOURING AGAIN ON A HARLEY-DAVIDSON , sold springer for down payment and some extras and haven't rode the Tri-Glide since then 😮😂

Wow, not many are able or want to get back on 2 wheels after being on the trike! That's great and congratulations! I think things have changed and the thoughts by non-H-D riders about how H-D riders hate liquid cooled bikes is based on how years ago the V-Rod was given the cold shoulder. Things have really changed though. Every group ride or bike night I go to, and even occasionally when stopping for gas, I have traditional cruiser/bagger/Dyna guys ask questions. They're interested, 150HP is the usual reason. It's when I tell them about the comfort and suspension that they really perk up. It truly is game changing. I'm glad you had a chance to try a Pan Am and it changed things for the better for you! Again, welcome back to 2 wheels and as always, thank you for watching!

@Chase_N actually correct my friend it's a amazing choice for several reasons and my MC requires a Harley-Davidson so was definitely a WIN WIN for me , I would bet any of the Adventure bikes by any manufacturer would have been game changing for me also , and I had 2 different V-rods hated them both because how they made me sit , BUT A 150HP Harley-Davidson that feels like sitting on a large DIRTBIKE like the xr650's I've had and it is a Harley-Davidson well let's just say I will always have a Pan America in the stable sitting next to my Tricycle that now is only gonna be used if the little miss's wants to go or I'm going to be on a few day trip 😀

@tmar0075 I believe that the updates since 2023 has taken care of most of the electrical issues that some had early on , I imagine that by now if you buy a certified Used HD Pan America that you should be ok , I installed a YTX12-24L ANTIGRAVITY 720CA lithium battery in my 2021 when I got it this February and it has been flawless so far , starter clutch does a weird wine up 3 out of 10 times but nothing that concerns me it never fails to start 1st or 2nd push of the button, and I got it with 3 years unlimited mileage warranty fender to fender for $16,000 out the door , since I updated latest tft update release this year it seems to come online quicker and holds steady voltage of 14.1v and has been miles of smiles , hope this helps but is only my experience since February 2nd 2024 and about 6,000 miles ...

I ride the oil fields for work and the bike handles all the terrain I throw at it, I run 70/30 tires on mine and it handles, mud, sand, gravel, river beds, and rock just fine. Adjust your ride style and use the ride modes appropriately the bike handles great! Great video I completely agreed and enjoyed it, keep it up!

@@moeduks3673 I think people expect perfection out of everything these days. Me, I'm happy with "good enough". Give me "a little better" and I feel like I've gotten away with something. Give me "better, capable, and fun" all at once and I'm ecstatic. That's likely most ADVs to be honest, but H-D has done a fine job in creating a jack of all trades ADV their 1st time out. Even BMW took notice and scrambled to up their game not just with the auto-ride-height suspension, but also with losing weight on the GS1300s.

As someone else said - ride what you like! That said, I bought my PA for a lot of reasons but one of them was that I wanted to *stay* on a Harley as I got older and the baggers are simply too big/heavy for me anymore. Not that I can't muscle it around - I just don't want to anymore! I traded by EGC for my '23 PA and I love it to death. I've probably said it here before - Harley should market this, along with being an 'ADV' bike - as a sport tourer, because that's what I have and plan to continue using it for! It will most likely never see dirt. Peace!

I picked a brand new left over 2022 for a very good price. the power is insane, the suspension works perfectly for 2up touring, I am loving my new bike! I came from the ADV and sport touring world, I never realy considered a Harley before this one. The buying experience was great, the dealers, the hog memberships, the ride app, etc. I even found myself buying a hat and checking out the big touring bikes. I think this is probably exactly what Harley Davidson is targetting with this bike. I didn't really like Harley, never considered one, and now all of a sudden they have a bike I like. It's been a great introduction to the "brotherhood"

Nice, an outlier! Welcome to the club and I'm glad you're enjoying the Pan Am! The experience at many dealerships is part of the allure. Really, it's a well kept secret that many H-D riders actually like other brands (I've had an Aprilia and Kawi myself) but for some reason everyone thinks it's the opposite. Remember to check that all the updates are current, it makes the Pan Am more reliable. Also, check your local dealers for events. This weekend Adventure H-D in Dover, Ohio has a stunt show I'll be going to and there have been group rides, cookouts, etc at other dealers I frequent too. That's the other thing about H-D, they really do a great job of growing a community. Thank you for watching and again, welcome to the community and enjoy that Pan Am!

I think that's really cool, finding that kind of satisfaction isn't easy. I'm sure you don't miss the "pucker factor" of the gravel road on the Road King either. Harley really hit it out of the park with the Pan-Am, they don't hang around the showroom floor for long at my local dealer. Great topic. I generally like the upright seating position and a taller bike. My last bike was a Honda NC700x and I took it off road a lot . When I looked for a bigger bike, the Pan AM was the best bang for the buck with all the bells and whistles. I'm mostly doing roads these days 90/10 and this bike is fabulous. I'm not a brand loyal type of guy, but this bike did open me up the a Harley world that was not available on other brands. Who knows where I will land on my next bike. I have a lot of new friends are Harleys. People always want to talk about this bike. Most do not even realize its a Harley.

That's the weirdest thing, when a someone comes up and asks you "Is that really a Harley?". I just can't imagine someone spending the money to get a Yamaha painted over with a bar and shield logo. I had a guy ask me while I was sitting in traffic a few weeks ago. I'm not brand loyal either and I've owned other brands, but due to where I live, repair and parts are most easily accessed at a H-D dealer. If I lived in a big city or Europe, being practical, I might have a different bike. I do 90/10 too, mostly just because of the road I live on though. There are a few people outfitting Pan Ams as sport touring bikes. There's one particular guy in H-D forums Pan Am section with a 17" front wheel, touring tires, and a tune who has his Pan Am pumping out the full 150Hp at the wheel. It's still sort of an oddity, I've only seen 2 other people out riding Pan Ams, one last year. This last week I seen another right by my house, so maybe they're filtering out into the world and becoming a little more common. Thank you for watching!

Sold all my Harley's and got a 2022 pan America special Leftover for 10k off sticker and couldn't be happier on a proper Harley that I don't have to worry about checking weather or hoping my rain sock will hold out till I can make it home. $10K off the sticker is a deal! Was it a test ride or just researching performance numbers for you? From what most guys say, it's that first test ride. I love cruisers and baggers and was neutral on the Pan Am. But like with most people, you you hear little bits about "It's so fast", "It handles so well", "Oh, the suspension!", so you start to gain a little interest. You try to ignore it because "It can't be that much better than my Fat Bob, Low Rider S, Road/Street Glide, Road King etc.". Then some salesman tosses you the keys and lets you take a Pan Am for a rip. By the time you return, it's over. You go home and think about it, often. Then you run the scenarios of payments, trades, "Do I need a 2nd job?" in your head. One ride and it doesn't matter if it was your type of bike, because it is now. Thank you for watching!

Speaking of CVO STs, I just got an email and completed a survey from H-D about them, about what features I'd want and the price I'd be willing to pay. Lets just say all of my answers boiled down to "your charging too much". There were even questions about if it'd be more enticing if it came with an automatic transmission (I think H-D realized Honda exists and that they have a touring bike). There were questions on semi-auto transmissions too. The Pan Am really is a one ride bike for cruiser/bagger folks, they don't hate it, it's just "meh". Then one day you accept a test ride and by the time you get back, you're looking at your cruiser/bagger a little differently. That being said, I do miss the off the bottom torque on the M8s sometimes. A ride on my cousins Low Rider S or his Street Glide is enough though, and I'm perfectly happy to swap back to my Pan Am. Thank you for watching!

I have a Pan Am and a 1988 Lowrider, so I have both. The Pan Am is different from a normal Harley Davidson. Although, I'm a bit frustrated with mine because I had an idle problem, where after 30 mins of riding, it fluctuates, then cuts out. It start again straight away and I just have to hold the revs up to keep it running. It has been in the dealers workshop for two weeks now, no answer. I'm assuming it is a split in the inlet manifold, that is opening when it is warm, and messing up the vacuum.

That's a strange issue I haven't heard of yet? If it's been 2 weeks, it's best to call them and check daily. If they can't give you an answer, then corporate is next. At least that what the folks on the forums have done when it's taking a long time to get their bikes back. It seems to light a fire under the dealers rear and get them moving. My cousin had an issue with his Street Glide recently and it took the dealer a week and a half to get a little sensor. Luckily, he has a Low Rider he can run around on in the meantime too, only his is a 2021 of the S variety. I hope they get it fixed quick for you! When you find out what it was, let the community here know so we all know what to watch for. Thank you for watching!

They did the typical H-D "good enough" thing like they do with every other bike they sell. Once you're in, that's when the "Harley Tax" begins and accessories catalog comes out. They try to get you to "upgrade" the bike while you're standing there. "You're already $23K deep, what's a few thousand more😉, plus the Pan Am sounds so much better with the Screamin' Eagle exhaust, it's ONLY another grand" the salesman says to you. But it's not just H-D, BMW and Triumph do the same, they just do it a different way with model tiers. Yamaha too, how many different versions of the Tenere 700 are there at the moment? KTM is the worst, seriously, things like cruise control and custom modes for a predetermined set of miles then the bike shuts them off. Every manufacturer is now trying to game you for every extra dollar they can. Kind of sad really as I actually like all of these manufacturers for various reasons. Thank you for watching!

It's not a traditional Harley. I have a Pan Am, a Road Glide and a Heritage softail ( that the Mrs rides) . It is a excellent Sports tourer with a small amount of off road thrown into the mix. I am lucky that I can pick and choose what I want to ride. The best bit is that if you ride in the rain ( most of the time in NW England ) you don't need to spend hours cleaning it once you are back home. The down side is that it doesn't have the traditional engine rumble of a Harley or the low down torque that is evocative of all Harleys up to the Pan Am launch that us Harley riders expect out of their bikes, so if you want that, don't buy a Pan Am. The best scenario is to have both types of HD and you can choose what type of riding you want to do. My stock answer to anyone who asks is to test ride one, you'll be impressed.

Well said. When a gentleman asked about my Pan Am the other day about the power I told him it isn't down low and needs to be ridden differently than a traditional H-D. He then asked about off-roading with it. I told him if you're Travis Pastrana or Ricky Carmichael it would likely do anything. But if your the average or below off-road rider (like myself) then it'll do gravel and dirt roads just fine. I do sometime miss my Road King, you're certainly lucky to have both types of H-Ds. I think one bike is enough for me though, especially with maintenance and insurance costs here having risen quite a bit as of late. Cheers, and thank you for watching!

One ride on the Pan Am showed me I'd been doing it all wrong. But that happens with a lot of guys who're traditional cruiser/bagger guys who give any ADV a shot. My cousin loves his Street Glide but he said if he lived here he'd do the same as I did after a ride on the Pan Am. He said he'd also like to have one as a 2nd bike too. It does more than a dirtbike, think comfy tourer with a little gravel and dirt capability (unless you're a professional rider, but then you could likely even do stuff off road on a Ninja 400). Fire-roads, light gravel roads and hills (like the road I live on) are really what average peoople can handle. The tires are more 80/20 than regular street tires too. I wouldn't do mud or single track on it though. It's like most ADVs, a Swiss Army Knife. It can do a lot, but it won't be great at much of it. Kind of a one bike solution. Except for pounding miles, big ADVs do that extraordinarily well. That's the best way I can explain it. Thank you for watching!
