I've seen and met Dennis for the first time when he was in his 20s in the very early 80s playing with parliament funkadelic at the apollo theater in Harlem newyork. I've also witnessed parliament in the 70s. I was convinced from the time I saw Dennis play, there was no other like him in every way. I still feel this way now. He was destined to be a drummer in the manner that he potrays. He is phenomenal extraordinary and in a different class of his own. He was a beast even then and is on a complete different level than any of the other drummers I have heard and witnessed to this day.

I think he lifted P Funk up to a higher level. He was technically so much better than the other drummers from Parliament but didn't forget to make it funky as hell. I still try to copy some of his grooves from the Beverly Live cd but I stiil find it hard to make it sound convincing. Respect for this man!!

I was in attendance at this show in Los Angeles when they taped the Live at the Beverly Theater CD in Los Angeles. An incredible show. This their 1st tour after a long hiatus. Eddie Hazel was in the house, Bernie, Maceo, P-Funk Horns, Skeet, Michael Hampton, Blackbyrd, and Dennis Chamber holding down the drums. This was a GREAT show!

Same show, different night. I think they were there for two nights. Allegedly this was also the show that inspired Prince to write Erotic City.

Dwight Hasbrouck I agree, Chambers is better than Jerome, but I think Brailey is better than people give him credit for. What do you think about Frankie "Kash" Waddy of Bootsys Rubberband? I think he is in that same stratosphere. I think listening and watching them play live is the only way to really appreciate how good all 3 of them were.

@@williewhite7037 DC is better than many drummers but he was also more technical than all of pfunks drummers. They were all good but just in a different class when it came to complementing the music. I don't know if most people knew that Dennis was self taught. He played and studied jazz yrs before pfunk. This is where all of the incredible chops came from. He was just put in a box as being a great funk drummer bcuz he played funk extremely well.

Stop. DC is a jazz drummer. Never played funk until P Funk. He was brought to the band at the age of 18 by bassist Skeet Curtis Bigfoot ain't no joke. (5 Stairsteps and Friends of Distinction). Frankie played with James Brown. They're all great!

Excellent tour, I was at the Beverly Theatre 2nd night concert. Literally just getting off tour myself coming from LAX. saw the marquee and I funked out. Stopped, connected with my boys....Thanx for posting. However it appears to be prof filmed. Is this available to the public? I'd sure like the entire concert.

I played with Parliament back in 1947 right after me and Michael Hampton came back from WW2. Eddie Hazel came around '1949. Gary Shider was my roommate in college in l1941. Cool guys! I use to baby sit Dennis Chambers and Bootsy when their parents were working at K-Mart back in the day. When Maceo came back from the Vietnam war he came straight to us because he had heard about us and wanted to know if he could play sax for us. Justin Bieber's mother sang back up on a lot of early funk records that we did and a lot don't know that part. Morris Day and Prince were our roadies up until Jesse Johnson pulled them from us and they all went to play with JB and the Processors....
