Today we are heading to Pécs! It's one of the best cities in Hungary with it's atmospheric streets and beautiful historical buildings. If you are looking for a destination to head to after visiting Budapest, Pécs should be at the top of your list. Today we are learning all about the history of the pride of Pécs: The Zsolnay porcelain factory. Zsolnay Vilmos was born in Pécs and he transformed his father's factory into a world leader in decorative and functional manufacturing. Today the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter is a vital piece of Hungaricum and european heritage. Pécs is a lush city filled with students, cathedrals and cobblestone streets. I lived in Hungary for a year and a half as an international student, and watching your video made me appreciate the places I've visited in Pécs more. I dearly miss Pécs, and Tettye will always be my favourite place in the world!

The corner bulilding next to Zsolnay statue (0:22) was also built by the Zsolnays in 1909. It also kown as "Mattyasovszky house" or "Mattyasovszky palace" as it was built for his (Vimos') son-in-law Jakab Mattyasovsky and Tibor Mattyasovszky Zsolnay (cousin and stepson) and their families. Úgy látszik tényleg jó munkát végeznek ott az oktatók, mert majdnem tökéletes magyarsággal fejezted ki magad. Csak egy "e" betű maradt le: döntése . Gratulálok! 🙂👍

Hi Willie! I am a "tüke" pécsi from westcork ireland. And the Dzsámi what is church now, was a church before the ottoman occupation. And the Turkish skin the priest who bag for mercy and don't destroy the church.
This was the far best episode seen on this channel. A whole new level of presenting, editing, everything. I believe Willie probably a very excellent teacher. In normal circumstances this guy should have a history show on HUNGARIAN national television, or sth similar. By the way: is there sth like an obligatory "sport event commentator studies" for the American kids? 😀
