In this video guitar lesson series we will take a look at one if the most popular classic rock songs of all time, "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne.
The guitarist for this song is the late great Randy Rhoads, a legendary guitarist who brought so much to the guitar world and influenced countless guitarists after him, only to have is life cut tragically short after just a few years in the public eye.
"Crazy Train" contains some of Randy Rhoad's most beloved guitar parts from the classic main riff to the dazzling fills all the way through the solo which contains melodic tapping, trills and fast 16th note triplet runs to create one of the most legendary guitar solos every written.
So go ahead and take a crack at learning this classic song and maybe you will be able to add a little bit of Randy Rhoads to your playing style. 🙂 Good luck!

I learned that once u learn one really difficult solo, the rest come much easier. About 6 months ago I attempted learning this, but it was far to difficult. Then I learned the solo from One (my favorite solo of all time) with tons of practice, and mostly got it down. About a month after, I rewatched this, and I got it down in only about 2 days. Practice really does help.

Actually the “siren affect” isn’t tapping at all. It’s a trill, and he reaches over his fretboard trill hand with his right pick hand and pulls the string up. Same affect, just looks awesome live. Randy uses the same technique in Over the Mountain just before the pause in the solo.

The first time I heard crazy train, I was in my 6th grade reading class. My friend Matt had a mix CD he let me listen to and it was the first track. I listened to it probably 15 times in a row. My friend said “ahhh, you like Randy Rhoads huh?” And it was over with from there. I had just taken an interest in guitar and he immediately became my guitar hero. Here I am at 33 years old, finally learning one of the most brilliant solos ever. Thank you so much for this video!

It's all in the wrist... Think about vibrating your wirst while you have a note held. That vibrating will transfer through your finger and into the string, and you'll get the vibrato effect. So just remember that the wrist is doing the most all of the work. And of course as you get better at it, you can become much more nuanced with how you use your wrist and fingers, and stuff.... Because it's not like you can only get one vibrato sounds out of your guitar.. With nuance, you can play around with vibrato quite a bit (just using your wrist and fingers).

Hold the guitar less firmly with ur fretting hand. It should be able to move rly freely along the neck. Next just wiggly ur finger more don’t try to shake ur hand to create vibrato, shake ur finger on the fret and press firmly but don’t man handle it😂 you’ll be good. In all honesty you might be trying to learn shit too quickly if you’re bending but can’t vibrato. Focus on little things or you’ll hate yourself for it later

Nice lesson. I have to practice a lot for this but I think I've got the tapping mostly down. When I try the bend/tapping thing it's really hard so I found another way to play it. You take the fretting hand and tap one handed so the 3rd finger is on the 12th and the 1st finger is on the 9th and you tap like that 6 times and then you tap from the 10th to the 7th twice. That's just how I can play it best. Just figured I would share it because I like both ways. Nice lesson bro

Practice to a metronome, greatest advice a someone could give you when practicing to play fast. Start slow and gradually increase the tempo. Most importantly, be patient.
